Bio

Appearance

Kirara has deep purple eyes and tanned skin. Her brown hair reaches her chest and is worn in low twin-tails tied by more hair. She also has straight-cut bangs. On her head is a light purple headband with a bow, paired with star earrings. She wears a yellow ruffled off-shoulder top with pale yellow ruffles and knotted shoulder straps, light blue striped shorts, and beige and dull brown peek-toe shoes. In the movie she wears a golden top over a white and gold checkered shirt, denim shorts, and black stockings, paired with short light brown boots with fluffy cuffs. She also wears a pale yellow jacket and a cream cap. Her pigtails are held with maroon bows.

As Cure Twinkle her hair turns bright orange and grows to her knees, held by pale yellow scrunchies toward the middle. She also has puffy pigtails on the sides of her head with a reddish-orange ombre. There are two additional magenta streaks in the front. Her earrings are slightly bigger and she also wears a gold tiara with a star in the middle and light yellow ribbons on each side. She wears a white and yellow dress held by a purple bow with a gold sphere in the center. The skirt is tutu-shaped with white and yellow flaps, purple frills, and a yellow ribbon in the back. Around her waist is an orange belt with a four-pointed star. She also wears light orange thigh-length boots with an orange sole, cream-colored gloves held by orange bands, a pale yellow choker with flaps, and cream-colored armlets. In Mode Elegant, the skirt is now floor-length, with a golden yellow top layer opened in the front to reveal indigo, light purple, and white layers. The skirt flaps are pulled down with a white layer in front. Each side is decorated with light yellow stars and pale pink and purple beads. When another mode is activated, the outfit changes accordingly:

In her Lunar Mode Elegant, her earrings turn into crescent moons and the bow on her chest is blue with a crescent moon brooch. Her armlets turn into a same-colored shawl. The skirt's white piece has more ruffles, and in the front of the skirt is a chain of crescent moons with a gold and purple ornament similar to the brooch. Her inner-skirt layers are longer, with the top two indigo and pastel indigo.

Mode Shooting Star consists of star-shaped earrings with gold dangles, along with a yellow and purple band with a star gem in the middle. Her armlets are shorter with white and golden yellow streamers on it. Her choker and bands around the gloves turn lighter. Her belt turns purple and the star turns orange, and in the middle of her skirt is a pale yellow and yellow flap. On each flap is a magenta star. The top skirt layer is bunched and held by two magenta stars with a light yellow layer under it. The inner layers are lilac, lavender, and purple.

In Ginga Mode Elegant, her dress is now completely white with ruffly sleeves. In the front is a yellow ribbon with a starburst-shaped brooch. The ribbon on the waist is now smaller and white. The skirt is larger than her previous ones, with it being white and lined with gold topped with a slightly shorter light purple layer with two light yellow ribbons circling it. Also on that part are light yellow ribbons on top of white ones with spheres that have starbursts. The bottom layer is light purple with yellow stars covering it. Her hair grows longer and even thicker and lighter with stars decorating it and an additional two scrunchies holding it. Her tiara now resembles the one on the insignia and her choker is pearly. Her earrings are now small dangling stars and her gloves gain another cuff. During Royal, she gains a large, golden lace ribbon on the back.

In Grand Princess form, her hair grows thicker and her hair accessories are larger. Her tiara is more ornate and has an orange gem heart in the middle. Her dress is white and gold, while her skirt has three layers, the top two having a gold gradient and the third one being frilly. Her gloves have another layer and her choker is white with a bow attached, adorned by a star. She wears a pale gold cape with a fluffy collar and white lining, and in the middle is a light purple bow with a gold sphere in the center and a cravat.

In mode Halloween, her dress is sleeveless with a yellow and white top and a gold sphere in the middle with frills on each side. Her armlets now have two layers and her choker is frilly as well. Her belt is now a yellow flower with green leaves and a long yellow bow in the back. On each side is a pale olive green ribbon. Her gloves now have yellow bands and a changed cuff. On her head are three gold flowers with a pastel green vine on each side.

As an adult shown in episode 50 she wears a yellow outfit with small star earrings, a gold bracelet, a navy blue purse, and a white headband. Her hair is now cut short, just passing her shoulders.

Personality

Kirara is a freshman at Noble Academy, who moves primarily at her own pace. She is friendly and likes to make up nicknames for others. Although mostly sweet, she can be headstrong at times.

Influenced by her famous mother Amanogawa Stella, she strives to be a top model, and she has the strength to pursue it head-on. Therefore, she is highly active as a model and appears in many magazines and fashion shows. Being a fashionista, she loves wearing new outfits to display herself as well.

Kirara has a bit of a sweet tooth at times, with her favorite sweet being Marble Doughnuts.

Relationships

Haruno Haruka - The two of them are classmates at Noble Academy. During Kirara's fashion show, Haruka goes backstage with some donuts to give Kirara something to eat before the second show began. She even gave her a nickname "HaruHaru" because Haruka's name contains two "Harus".

Kaido Minami - Kirara is the first person to call her "Minamin" without adding -san or -sama like the other students, and they share a friendly relationship.

Amanogawa Stella - Stella is Kirara's mother and a popular professional model. In episode 17, Stella is invited to do a fashion show with Kirara. During practice, Kirara stumbles on the runway and starts to feel the pressure of working with her mother. This causes a rift in their relationship as she wanted to be as perfect as Stella but she did not want to help. On the night of the show, Twilight and Shut appear before it starts and captures Stella, creating mother and daughter Zetsuborgs. As the battle continued, Cure Twinkle vowed to protect her mother's dream, which was to walk the runway with her daugher. Her determination causes the Miracle Shooting Star Dress Up Key to appear and uses it to help defeat the Zetsuborgs. Their relationship was then mended as they both walked the runway and Kirara officially proclaims that she wanted to be just like her mother.

Akagi Towa - In episode 24, it is revealed that the two of them are roommates. They had a hard time getting along at first due to Towa's lack of knowledge and Kirara's busy modeling schedule. However they soon become friends. Kirara calls her "Towachi."

Etymology

Amanogawa (天ノ川?): Ama (?) means 'sky', No (?) means 'in' and Gawa (?) means 'river'. So, the full meaning of "Amanogawa" is 'River in the sky'. 'Amanogawa' is also the Japanese name of the Milky Way, which is a more suitable meaning because Cure Twinkle is the Princess of Stars.

Kirara (きらら?) mean either 'mica' or 'isinglass'. It sounds very similar to "kirakira" which means 'sparkly' or 'glittery'.

Cure Twinkle means the source of light, shines with a flickering light and glimmer.

History

Becoming Cure Twinkle

Upon learning that Kirara found the third Princess Perfume, Haruka, Minami, Pafu and Aroma find the class she is in to talk to her, but she brushes them off. Later, the group head to Yumegahama Town where Kirara is doing a photo shoot, when Close appears with a Zetsuborg. The two Cures defeated it and confront Kirara about the perfume, but she returns it to them, thinking it was a gift from a fan. Still determined to find out if she is the third Pretty Cure, they attend a fashion show she was participating in. In her dressing room, Kirara finds a Dress Up Key in her make up case and wears it as a necklace. During the second part of the show, Close appears again and creates a Fashion Model Zetsuborg to attack the venue, causing everyone except for Kirara and the two Cures to evacuate. The duo transform but were defeated, so Kirara took matters into her own hands to protect her show. Suddenly, her Dress Up Key shines, so Aroma gives Kirara the Princess Perfume, so she can transform into Cure Twinkle. After quickly purifying the Zetsuborg with Twinkle Humming, she returns the perfume yet again, saying she was too busy to be a Pretty Cure. However, after realizing how supportive Haruka is towards her, she later decides to become part of the team.

Rivalry With Ranko

One day, Kirara is invited to be on "Sunday GOGO" to promote her favorite donuts shop, Marble Donuts. However, things quickly goes downhill because she has to work with the Ranko, where she begins to hate Ranko's immaturity and arrogance. The two girls clash with each other, especially after Kirara wins the first two rounds. During the donuts costume race, Kirara once again wins, but still saves Ranko when she has her dream trapped by Shut. Kirara later vows to never do television broadcasting again due to her unhappy experience with Ranko, but Ranko ignores her and vows to not lose to her next time.

Sharing Her Dream With Her Mother

When Kirara is preparing for her first official runway debut, she encounters her mother Stella. Her mother, filled with excitement, ignores her feelings and forcibly takes her and her friends around the city. Stella is unaware of how nervous Kirara feels and tells Kirara to liven up, resulting in Kirara snapping at her lack of concern. That night, however, Kirara still shows how deeply she cares for her mother by saving Stella, who gets trapped in a cage by Twilight and Shut, granting Twinkle her Miracle Shooting Star Dress Up Key. Afterwards, Stella tells Kirara that her new dream is about both of them becoming top models together, which Kirara promises to fulfil in the near future.

Becoming Friends With Towa

After Towa is freed from Dyspear's brainwashing, Kirara is delighted to have Towa as her new classmate and roommate. But as Kirara's own workload as a model increases, she becomes unable to balance her modelling career and friendship with Towa, feeling frustrated that Towa is struggling to adjust to life in Noble Academy. However, when Kirara is trying to help Towa retrieve a sheet during laundry, Towa tells Kirara about her childhood and then teaches Kirara how to smile earnestly. Kirara begins to appreciate Towa more, and together they defeat Lock's modelling Zetsuborg with Mermaid and Flora. They have become closer friends ever since.

Epilogue

A few years later, Kirara has achieved her dream as a model and is staying in Paris, France for the time being.
