Personality[]
Nana is a very kind and intelligent girl, who is good at playing the piano. She's also very polite to a fault, as she finds it difficult to address a person's name without the use of honorifics, even if the person is younger than her. Nana treasures what's truly important and puts in great effort for the sake of others. At first, Nana had a fear of failing to meet others' expectations, but she eventually learns to regain her passion for music and self-confidence. Nana is very earnest, which is why she thinks and deliberates a lot before finally taking action.
Nana also has a lot of determination and resolve when taking a step towards something, which allows her to try new things for instance when learning that she doesn't have to just play the piano. However, it can cause her to act strangely around others than who she usually is at times. When she finds something that she really likes, she makes up dramatic poems about them on the spot.
Nana is very considerate and selfless, being very caring to other people, regardless of if they oppose her, such as being supportive of Meroron's feelings for Purirun. This considerate nature even extends to her enemies, as she helped Zakkuri after finding him lying under the hot sun. She's also very shy and quite humble, as she's quick to blush whenever someone compliments her or a fan announces that they like Cure Wink.
Relationships[]
- Sakura Uta: Nana met Uta at a piano competition when they were children. Uta gave Nana courage by telling her to wink before going on stage. Years later, Nana meets Uta again and forms a close friendship with her. She admits to Uta that she has been using the "wink" spell since they first met. Nana idolizes Uta and wants to be like her. She is also the first person to know Uta's identity as Cure Idol.
- Sakura Hamori: Nana befriends Hamori after she reconnects with Uta and is one of the people who help Nana regain some confidence in her piano skills after playing one with her. Nana also becomes Cure Wink for the first time to save Hamori from Team Chokkiri. She even plays with her sometimes.

However, she is shocked when she learns that Purirun has forgotten who she, Uta, and Kokoro are. Luckily, Purirun eventually regains her memories. This relieves Nana.
- Meroron: Nana finds Meroron's admiration for Purirun very adorable and is very supportive of her advances and feelings, even after Meroron declares her as a rival for Purirun's affections. She usually reassures her that Purirun likes her too. After being told that light and darkness don't mix, Nana was able to amaze Meroron by proving otherwise. She is also able to relate to her personal dilemma and help her see how she can depend on her and the others, not just Purirun when sharing her story of courage. However, she is shocked to witness Meroron get captured by the Heart Kirari Lock after Meroron musters up the confidence to befriend the girls. Meroron is closest with Nana amongst the Idol Pretty Cure trio, and was clearly upset when she thought that she might stay in France, despite trying to hide it.
- Zakkuri: Nana met Zakkuri for the first time after he trapped Hamori inside a Makkuranda. Despite being his enemy, Nana begins to feel bad for him after seeing how overworked he is. Therefore, she is sad when Zakkuri gets frustrated and rejects her kindness. However, he left on better terms with her after she helped him by saying he's her fan, which she thanks him for.
- Aokaze Mutsumi: Mutsumi is very supportive of her daughter, telling her not to worry too much while playing the piano. Nana is equally supportive of her mother. It's later revealed that she was the one who encouraged Mutsumi about travelling to France to pursue her career of being a pianist. Nana loves her mother very much and idolizes her. Playing the piano just for her and Hajime makes her happy and Nana later tells her that she's her idol.
Etymology[]
Aokaze (蒼風)?: Ao (蒼)? means "blue"[1], while Kaze (風)? means "wind"[2]. From the January 2026 issue of the Animage magazine, Murase Aki revealed she new there'd be a blue Cure on the team, and she really wanted to include a word related to "blue" in that Cure's surname.
Nana (なな)?: Without kanji, it's actually quite hard to tell what the name means. However, it can be written as 七 which means "seven" [3]. The January 2026 Animage issue revealed when Murase Aki created Nana as a character who is good at playing the piano, she named her "Nana" after the "Seven-Colored Scale".
Cure Wink means "to close one eye for a short time as a way of greeting someone or showing friendliness"[4]. The January 2026 Animage issue revealed that Katou Youichi wanted to use "Cure Wink" as one of 2025's character names if he could, because the wink where one eye is closed is a form of fan service used by idols.

However, the intense pressure from the surrounding crowd has made her miss a note while playing and pause in fear. After losing a competition, Nana loses confidence in her own piano performances and skills into the point she repeats the same mistake while playing the piano in front of her class. On the following day on the way to school, Nana starts to walk on the white street line, which puzzles Uta and Kokoro. Then, she unexpectedly starts rapping about mathematics after Uta asks if she could help her study for her upcoming math test. After school, she visits Uta's house with a hairstyle similar to Kokoro's, uses odd speech patterns, and plays with Hamori. After the study session, Nana then visits the town square to professionally hand Hanami-chan a thank you letter and then goes to the beach to draw in the sand, entirely unaware that her friends are secretly following her. Zakkuri would show up later and use Hanami, who is reading the letter Nana gave her, as a victim to create a Makkuranda. The Idol Pretty Cure transform to defeat the monster, and Nana later explains to Uta and Kokoro that she is just trying to find other interests other than playing the piano.KIPC09

She eventually finds Zakkuri, who is sitting under the sun and clearly looks exhausted. Worried, she quickly assists him by giving him her hat, finding shade for him to rest under, and giving him water. She then suggests that he shouldn't be wearing heavy clothing in the summer and tells him to stop stealing Kirakira, but Zakkuri refuses to listen and states that it's his job before taking his leave. Zakkuri later creates a Kurayaminda and Nana meets up with him again, pleading for him to stop, but he still refuses. She then decides to fight, and the team transforms to defeat the Kurayaminda. Wink catches Zakkuri who faints from his workload, and she asks if he's okay. Frustrated by her kindness, Zakkuri yells that he hates Wink and flees, which makes her sad. Her friends try to comfort her, but she insists that it's nothing to worry about.KIPC24
Newfound Courage and Communication[]
Nana plays Winking Score on the piano but remembering the things Zakkuri said to her disturbs her concentration, making her wonder if there's anything she could do. Her friends visit her on the following day, who are amazed by the house she lives in and the refreshments she provides for them. After Nana explains that the treats were sent by her mom from France, the group collectively agree to do their own trip by visiting a sunflower field. On their way there, everyone notices how Nana has been spacing out. She admits that she's worried about Zakkuri and wishes to help him. Everyone is amazed at how sympathetic and selfless Nana is. However, Meroron tells her that it's pointless as she believes light and darkness do not mix. After exploring the fields and having a picnic, Nana decides to go for a walk and coincidently encounters Zakkuri. As he tries to hand her handkerchief back, he is transformed into Zakkurinda by a mysterious hooded man. Once the others arrive, they all transform to confront the monster. Wink refers to what Kiss said earlier and states that she wants to talk to Zakkuri, which everyone supports. With her newfound courage, Wink blocks Zakkuri's attacks and demands to know why he's on Team Chokkiri. He refuses to answer at first but then reluctantly admits it's more suited for a person like him who's always rough with people. With each brave step forward, Wink disagrees and purifies him with Wink Crescendo. Zakkuri apologizes for dirtying the handkerchief, but Nana washes it and lets him keep it. With Nana's courage finally reaching him, Zakkuri states that he'll look for a new job and that he's now a fan of Cure Wink. Nana politely thanks him with a smile and a wink before he leaves.KIPC25
Helping And Encouraging Meroron[]
The Cures are hosting an Idol Pretty Cure VS ZukyoonKiss Talk Show and one of the fans asks Cure Wink if they are all friends, which she and the rest of the Cures all answer that they are, except for Kiss which Wink seems to notice. After the event, a frustrated Kiss demands to not group her and Zukyoon with the trio and declares that she's not their friend. Despite this, the three girls still attempt to befriend Meroron, but she ultimately resists, as Meroron believes that Purirun is the only person she has in her life and flees to the library in anger. While the others decide to wait for her to come back, Nana decides to pursue her instead. She arrives at the library, encountering a regretful Meroron, who is looking for a book called The Bond Ribbon. When Meroron struggles to take in the book, Nana tells her a story about how she gained the courage to talk to her classmates in piano class after meeting Uta and how Meroron can always count on her and the others because similar to her, Nana wasn't able to take a step forward prior. Thus, when the Kurayaminda attacks, she's able to give Meroron inspiration from her courage and the confidence in transforming by herself, and they're able to fight together.KIPC29
A Melody For Her Mother[]
Kokoro shares her complete set of the Idol Pretty Cure mascots, expressing her love for them as her idols, leading to Meroron asking Nana who's her idol, but Nana doesn't appear to have an answer. Later that day, Nana comes home to her father who has received two tickets to a trip to France and invitations to her mother's piano concert. After not being able to see her in person for a while, Nana is extremely excited. Nana and her father had to hastily rush to the concert as soon as they landed in France due to some delays. Despite facing some travelling difficulties, they arrive just in time to watch Mutsumi's performance.
The family later have dinner together and Nana plays GARDEN on the piano for her mother right after. While preparing for bed, Nana and her mother have a one-on-one chat, reminiscing about the time Nana encouraged her mother to take her new job as a pianist in France. Nana's mother then makes an offer to her about staying with her, where they no longer had to be apart and she can learn from the same person who taught her how to play the piano. Indecisive, Nana calls her friends about it, but they tell her that she should think for herself and respect whatever choice she makes. Nana, still thinking about the decision to make, also recalls her mother saying that she produces a certain color whenever she plays the piano. She has no idea what she means until her dad calls her to see a beautiful rainbow. She then quickly chases after her mother to tell her about the decision she has made while also telling her that she is her idol. Later, Nana rushes back to aid her friends in a fight against Jogi. Wink beats down the Darkranda and awakens a new power within herself while using Wink Barrier and slams it against the monster before defeating it with Wink Crescendo. Afterwards, Nana tells her friends that she wants to play the piano with her mother but also wants to do a lot of other things like being an Idol Pretty Cure with them. This makes her friends very happy.KIPC40
