Daigan (ダイガン Daigan?) is a former villain from HUGtto! Pretty Cure. He is an imposing man who works for the Criasu Corporation as head of the Azababu branch office. He is defeated in episode 23 by Doctor Traum and disappears but is revealed to be alive and purified in episode 24.

In episode 49, it is revealed that he has become Saaya's nursing assistant in the reconstructed future.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Daigan is a stout middle-aged man. His clothes are various shades of green, with gold-colored trim, and spikes on the shoulders. He has short, curly black hair, a mustache and a braided goatee held with a small red ribbon. He also wears round glasses.

Personality[]

An unmanned and overconfident man, Daigan always acts self-assured and arrogant toward his subordinates. He often vows that he could do what any of his colleagues were assigned to do in five minutes.

After his purification, though, Daigan becomes a grateful man and a more supportive ally to the Cures, particularly Saaya whom he befriends. He's also forgiving as he forgives Doctor Traum from backstabbing him and instead joins the latter's alliance in episode 47.

Relationships[]

  • Listol: His superior. When Listol offers him the chance to return to Criasu, Daigan almost gives in to Listol's request, until the Cures purify his Oshimaida.
  • Papple, Gelos, Charaleet, Ruru: His colleagues. He later becomes part of Charleet and Papple's talent agency.
  • Doctor Traum: His senior. Doctor Traum originally betrayed him, but by the final battle, Daigan has forgiven Traum.
  • Yakushiji Saaya: At first, Daigan was enemies with Saaya/Cure Ange, but after Traum back-stabbed him and he got fatally wounded, Cure Ange healed him.HuPC23 He is very grateful of Saaya's kindness towards him and the two developed a friendship. In the future, it turns out that he has become Saaya's assistant. HuPC49

Etymology[]

"Daigan" (ダイガン?) is likely a play on "baby boomer" (団塊 dankai?), the generation he represents among Criasu's staff.

History[]

After Papple leaves Criasu, Daigan and Doctor Traum are deployed by George Kurai and Listol to confront the Cures. But before Daigan can even attack, Doctor Traum immediately backstabs Daigan by physically assaulting him. Ange tries to soothe his pain, but he still ends up disappearing. HuPC23 Fortunately, Daigan reappears at the pool party, revealing to have been purified and hired by Papple. He is also very grateful of Ange saving him back then.HuPC24

During Halloween, Daigan gets dissatisfied with his job, and is unable to resist Listol's temptation of allowing him to return to Criasu. He thus summons an Oshimaida to wreck the festival. After his Oshimaida is purified by the Cures, Papple shows Daigan some tough love by slapping him, but she also tells him that people actually like the snacks he made, which motivates him to stay at Papple's talent agency and not return to Criasu.HuPC38

He is one of the ex-Criasu members who helps the Cures fight against the hordes of Mou Oshimaidas, before getting overwhelmed.HuPC47 He and the other civilians later temporarily become Cures to help the main Cures to purify George.HuPC48

After George is redeemed, Daigan and the ex-Criasu members, along with Hariham Harry and Hugtan, later return to the future with Doctor Traum's train. He becomes Saaya's nursing assistant 12 years later.HuPC49

Abilities[]

Like his other colleagues, he calls forth a victim's Prickly Powerer with the words "Hope for tomorrow, begone! Negative Wave!" (明日への希望よ消えろ!ネガティブウェーブ! Asu e no kibō yo kiero! Negatibu Uēbu!?). He can then turn this power into an Oshimaida/Mou-Oshimaida with the words "I'm ordering you! (Mou-)Oshimaida!" (発注!(猛!)オシマイダー! Hacchū! (Mō!) Oshimaidā!?).
