Dark Pretty Cure is a light-skinned teenager who usually keeps her left eye closed. Her eyes are of two different colors: gold on the left, and blue on the right, but after her rebirth, both her eyes are gold. She wears a short black ruffly dress with a red undertone along with a black ribbon band with white scallops above on her right wrist, similar to the other Pretty Cures. She also wears a long black glove on her left arm. Her short sleeves are puffy and frilly with two-layered ruffles on the chest, dark gray lining and straps with a matching choker, dark blue teardrop-shaped drop earrings, and a circular blue tiny brooch with a silver border on her chest. Behind her left shoulder is a black "dragon-like" wing. Her hair is very dark teal and styled in a bob cut with a straight cut that curls up a little, much like Cure Moonlight's bangs. Additionally, she has three big red spike-like hair clips on the top left side of her head.
Personality

Relationships
- Tsukikage Yuri: Dark Pretty Cure and Yuri share a complicated relationship that appears to be antagonistic. Despite this, Dark Pretty Cure seems to have some level of respect for Yuri, as she agrees to her unspoken request and departs.HPC10 Dark Pretty Cure describes their relationship as similar to the dark side of the moon, where Yuri is the moon and she is its shadow.HPC34 It is eventually revealed that Dark Pretty Cure is actually Yuri's non-biological younger sister.HPC49
- Sabaku: Sabaku seems to trust Dark Pretty Cure whenever he wants to get something done thoroughly. Because it is unknown if Dark Pretty Cure is a real Cure or not, it is not known if Sabaku is willing to sacrifice her in order to take control of the Tree of Hearts when the rest of Pretty Cure are defeated. Dark Pretty Cure does seem more important to him then the Desert Apostles as shown, when she was injured and unable to fight, Sabaku arrives and takes her away before Cure Moonlight can end their battle. This is because he created her himself, and she is a daughter to him.HPC34
History
Before The Tree of Hearts
Dark Pretty Cure was created by Sabaku for the sole purpose of destroying Cure Moonlight. She is first seen fighting against Cure Moonlight before the Tree of Hearts, telling her that she will die with the Tree of Hearts. They eventually take use of their Flower Tacts, her Dark Tact, and Cure Moonlight's Moon Tact. After being lightly wounded, Dark Pretty Cure succeeds in making Cure Moonlight deform half-way and have the Tree of Hearts wilt, but not die. Cure Moonlight explains that this is because it will never wilt as long as Pretty Cure exist. When she hears this, Dark Pretty Cure prepares herself to use Dark Forte Wave to take Cure Moonlight down, but Cure Moonlight uses her Pretty Cure Seed to protect herself and the two fairies Chypre and Coffret, holding it back long enough for the fairies to escape with two Heart Perfumes. Just then, the Dark Forte Wave manages to destroy the Pretty Cure Seed, and the attack hits Cure Moonlight.HPC01
New Pretty Cure
Throughout the rest of the time afterward, Dark Pretty Cure is seen beside Sabaku in the base of the Desert Apostles, always observing whenever someone comes for an audience. Although she did not give any reactions herself when the news of a new Pretty Cure is revealed, she is told to go and fight them when Sabaku's henchmen continue to lose.HPC10 Using her own status as a Pretty Cure, Dark Pretty Cure attacks innocents known to Tsubomi and Erika in an attempt to ruin the reputation of Cure Blossom and Cure Marine. When the two girls meet Dark Pretty Cure, she captures Chypre and Coffret and orders Tsubomi and Erika to bring her the Heart Pot. Tsubomi and Erika are left with no choice, but with the help of the mysterious guy, the two girls rescue their fairy partners and fight Dark Pretty Cure. The pair are quickly beaten by Dark Pretty Cure, but as Dark Pretty Cure moves in to make the final move, Yuri appears behind Tsubomi and Erika so that only she can see her. Dark Pretty Cure realizes Cure Moonlight survived their last battle and leaves Tsubomi and Erika.HPC10 Her victory caused Tsubomi to lose her confidence for a while afterward.HPC11
Wanting nothing more than to destroy Cure Moonlight, Dark Pretty Cure attacks the train station where Yuri's mother works, attempting to draw Yuri into the battlefield. She succeeds in her aim with Yuri, proving a match for the Snackeys even without the ability to transform into Cure Moonlight. Before Dark Pretty Cure can destroy her, however, the mysterious guy appears again to defend her, and when she is about to track her down once more, Cure Blossom and Marine appears to fight her. When she defeats them once more and about to finish them off, Sabaku orders her to return to their base and to leave Yuri alone.HPC13
Some time later, Sabaku orders Dark Pretty Cure to locate the Tree of Hearts. She succeeds, only to discover a new fairy has been born and it uses its power to escape with the tree.HPC20 Knowing Pretty Cure would go to the tree to repair the barrier, she follows them there. Dark Pretty Cure battles Pretty Cure and manages to fight them off easily, regardless of them now having Cure Sunshine to increase their numbers. However, Cure Blossom, Marine and Sunshine manage to push her far enough away from the tree long enough for Cure Sunshine and Potpourri to repair the barrier. The battle ends with the Tree of Hearts teleporting away with Pretty Cure.HPC24
Return Of Cure Moonlight
With Dark Pretty Cure possessing three-quarters of Yuri's Heart Seed, she becomes obsessed with destroying Yuri. When the Heart Seed begins to glow, she suspects that something is about to happen to Yuri and starts searching for her, using the Heart Seed as a beacon to draw her closer. However, when the signal stops as Yuri heads to the Great Heart Tree, Dark Pretty Cure engages in battle with Cure Blossom, Cure Marine, and Cure Sunshine. She quickly demonstrates that they are still not powerful enough to match her strength and is ready to finish the fight. Suddenly, light from the Great Heart Tree causes the surrounding trees to glow. At this moment, Yuri appears and transforms into Cure Moonlight once again. The two Cures engage in a fierce battle, evenly matched. During their fight, Cure Moonlight asks Dark Pretty Cure why she is so obsessed with her. Dark Pretty Cure replies that if Cure Moonlight represents the light of the moon, then she embodies darkness. She believes that only when darkness consumes the light will the moon become whole. As they unleash their Fortissimo attacks against one another, they clash across the sky. Eventually, Cure Moonlight lands a blow that causes Dark Pretty Cure to fall to the ground in pain, unable to move. Just as Cure Moonlight is about to end the battle, Sabaku appears and removes Dark Pretty Cure from the battlefield.
Rebirth
Sabaku had Dark Pretty Cure in a massive orb to help her recover from her loss against Cure Moonlight. He says that it will soon be time for her, a remark which causes her to give an evil grin.HPC41 When the Cures are ready to defeat Cobraja, Dark Pretty Cure appears, catching them off guard. She opens her eyes which are now both gold in color revealing she no longer has heterochromia. This unleashes a massive amount of power from her which easily throws Blossom and the others to the ground. She collects Cobraja and leaves the battle.HPC42
Downfall And Defeat
During the rescue of Kaoruko, Cure Blossom and Cure Moonlight come across Dark Pretty Cure. Cure Moonlight tells Cure Blossom to move on and save Kaoruko. They begin to fight, and, soon after, Professor Sabaku appears. As Cure Moonlight fires a beam at Dark Pretty Cure, Professor Sabaku jumps in front of her and the blow breaks his mask in half, revealing his true identity. Dark Pretty Cure is enraged by the fact that Cure Moonlight hurt him, so she goes in for a full-on attack.
Dark Pretty Cure Dying
After Cure Moonlight recovers from shock, she defeats Dark Pretty Cure with the Floral Power Fortissimo. Dark Pretty Cure falls to the ground, the gemstone on her chest breaking. She hobbles over to the direction of Cure Moonlight, but Professor Sabaku catches her in his arms and tells her that she can rest now. Dark Pretty Cure then fades away into light, but not before smiling and giving the other three quarters of Cure Moonlight's Pretty Cure Seed back.HPC47
Abilities
- She can generate red shields that are powerful enough to defend herself against the Cures' attacks with ease. They can also be used offensively but with great force.
- When her closed gold eye is opened, it seems to have the ability to strengthen her attacks significantly and can also create violent gusts of wind to throw back the opponent or cause damage to her environment.
- With her Dark Tact, she can use Dark Forte Wave and Dark Power Fortissimo. Both attacks seem to be stronger than the Pretty Cure's versions, making her nearly unbeatable. However, Cure Moonlight is able to fight on par with her, and once she regains her Heart Flower, Cure Moonlight can even defeat her.
Trivia
- Before her rebirth, Dark Pretty Cure had two differently colored eyes, a condition known as complete heterochromia. After her rebirth, her eyes were shown to have a blue ring in the center, which is a condition called central heterochromia.
- According to the novel, the reason why Dark Cure has only one wing was because Sabaku sped up the process of her growth inside her incubator and hence only one of the wings managed to grow.
- In the same work, it is also confirmed that she doesn't have a Heart Flower.
