Doctor Traum (ドクター·トラウム Dokutā Toraumu)? is a former villain who appears in HUGtto! Pretty Cure. He is an old man who was a senior from the Criasu Corporation to end the Cures. His catchphrase is "This week's surprise dondon mecha" (「こんしゅうのびっくりロンドンめか〜」 "Konshū no bikkuri dondon me~ka~")?.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Doctor Traum is an elderly man with white hair and blue eyes. He is tall and wears a long green jacket with maroon borders and black epaulets that have golden fringes. He also wears gloves on his hands and a vintage tie with a green gem at the center. Underneath the jacket, he sports a purple vest with purple edges. His cream-colored pants have black edges, and he wears brown boots. He completes his outfit with a distinctive black top hat. Additionally, he has various mechanical devices such as screws and gears around him.

As an Oshimaida, he has a black circular head with a pair of arms on its sides and wears a top hat.

When he temporarily becomes a Cure in episode 48, he dons a silver and black mecha-suit with wing-like appendages on the back. The suit has a giant light blue "T" spanning across the chest area.

Personality[]

In his debut, Traum does not care about teamwork and the well-being of his co-workers, only the fact of defeating Cures is his goal. He has a great fascination with mechanical and technological artifacts. Traum also seems to be the type of person who learns from past battles. In his battles against the Cures, which again take place within the hospital grounds, he already adjusted the Oshimaida to make silent attacks due to the past battle. It was shown again when he remodeled his machines after his first failure. Despite his cruel outlook, he has a soft spot for babies, as he decides to comply with the Cures by having a silent battle to not disturb the babies in the hospital. He even orders his summoned Oshimaida to keep the volume as low as possible in battle, hinting at his parental instinct. This was evident as he seemed to lose his beloved daughter in the past, which motivated him to stop time as a means to an end. Despite that, he seems to be quite skeptical of George's methods, even worrying about Hugtan, also known as the de-aged Cure Tomorrow, and its relation to Mother Heart. It was also shown during his creation of Ruru, naming her Amour, meaning "heart". He even has some passion for festivals, as he held a festival within the Criasu Headquarters and loves to hang around hot springs.

After being purified, he openly shows his strong affection towards Ruru, just like Mephisto. He's even willing to reveal to the Cures about Criasu's true objective and protect the cures from a Mou-Oshimaida's full-on attack, showing that his morals are different from the Criasu's objectives.

Relationships[]

  • Ruru Amour: His creation and non-biological daughter. He modeled Ruru in the resemblance of his daughter's disappearance, reprogrammed her to have a variety of complex emotions and actually cares about her despite her initial disobedience. He even apologized to her for pressuring her on not to develop a heart and is glad for her becoming a Pretty Cure.HuPC40
  • Daigan: His colleague and subordinate. Despite knowing each other for years, Traum was actually cruel to Daigan at first, even backstabbing the latter. But he finally apologizes to Daigan in episode 47, which Daigan accepts.

Etymology[]

In episode 45, Traum reveals his name is the German word for "Dream".

History[]

Doctor Traum was originally a happy man with a lovely daughter back in his younger days. Unfortunately, a tragedy, though still neither disclosed nor specifically mentioned, happened and contributed to the loss of his daughter. He then joined George Kurai's alliance and became one of the early members George had recruited.

Many years later, Traum created a female android whom he named Ruru Amour, in a way to ease his agony of losing his beloved child. Nonetheless, Ruru was defiant and unable to comprehend the instructions he gave to her, even once caused a huge loss of his data due to her impulse on simply wanted to clean the storeroom, as well as being inept to control her superhuman strength. He even once regretted to program Ruru to grow freely because of all the troubles she had brought and her inability to understand humans. He ultimately decided to enlist her as a part-timer for Criasu Corporation and distanced from the android girl ever since. HuPC40

He then first confronts the Cures in episode 23 by backstabbing his colleague Daigan so as to turn Daigan's claim of tackling the Cures within 5 minutes into reality, only to steal Daigan's efforts.

In episode 27, Traum locates a hospital surrounded by lots of tomorrow power, but still manages to find a person with enough prickly power for him to summon an Oshimaida. However, during the fight with the Cures, he reluctantly agrees to be quiet for the babies' sake. After being defeated by the Cures, he complains about the Cures making him break the rules, but tells Gelos that only a parent can understand the reason. He then takes a moment to observe a picture of himself with Ruru, showing that he secretly still cares for her.

In episode 30, Traum stays in the same Atami hotel the Cures are spending the night in, with both sides initially unaware. After the Cures realize that he is there, he is angered by them not appreciating his presence and summons a Mou Oshimaida from the person he managed to beat in a ping-pong match. He is about to defeat the Cures when the Tengu who once visited the hotel helps the Cures behind the scenes, giving Macherie and Amour the chance to purify his Mou Oshimaida before he retreats.

In episode 31, Traum gives Gelos a prototype time-stopping invention for her to use.

Later in episode 36, Traum invents and arms himself with a robotic device that can manipulate time in a dangerous way, and he tries using it on the KiraKira Cures to turn them into babies, though Hugtan uses her mysterious powers to save them. He also attacks the Mahou Tsukai Cures as well, turning them back into teenagers. Although the two teams work together with the Hugtto! Cures to destroy the device, he has already reversed time on it too far before he retreats, making time stop in other Cures' worlds.

Subsequently in episode 37, the Hugtto!, KiraKira and Mahou Tsukai teams, who are joined by Cure Peach and Cure Dream, try fighting him again, but they are no match against him, and he even tries to extract Hugtan's power, until Cure Black, Cure White and Shiny Luminous arrive to save Hugtan. Unfortunately, Traum soon uses his overwhelming Prickly Power to morph himself into an Oshimaida, and traps all the Cures in a dark void as he wraps himself around the globe. However, the mascots soon cheer the Cures on, which helps them break free from Traum's void, and Traum is overtaken by their united light. He realizes he has been temporarily returned to the past when Ruru was first created, but Ruru tells him it's impossible for him to stay there even if he wants to. He apologizes for what he did to her, and Ruru forgives him before he disappears.

Sometime later, Traum returns in episode 40, revealing that he has survived the massive Pretty Cure purification. He expresses his wish to make up and bond with Ruru, but Ruru is cold towards him and blames him for throwing her away. Ruru then decides to reluctantly give him a chance after seeing him trying to locate her with his mech. Soon, Traum finally gets to honestly tell her that he is sorry for his frustration he had for her when she was unable to meet his standards, and the mistake of erasing her data only because she couldn't replace his real daughter. He also adds that seeing the Cures made him realize the error of his ways. When Gelos corners Amour with her perfume Mou-Oshimaida, Traum almost sacrifices himself, but Amour saves him by blasting it away. When Traum decides to leave after the battle is over, Ruru suggests that he can come over and have a meal one day as a first step between them, which makes him happy. He requests her to refer to him with fatherly terms, which she heavily refuses.

Later in episode 45 during Christmas, Traum tries to be affectionate to Ruru, who is rather embarrassed by his gestures. But later she warms up to him and finally refers to him as her father, which cheers him up.

In episode 47, during the final battle against George Kurai, Traum and the other ex-Criasu members try their best to help the Cures fight off George, but they are outmatched by him, and they all lay down defeated and injured. However, in episode 48, he and the other affected people all recover and temporarily become Cures themselves, which help the Cures to defeat shadow giant George and return him back to normal. His present self also watches the battle with present George.

Eventually in episode 49, he returns to the future timeline with his self-built train, after the Cures help purify it. 12 years later, he has made a new Ruru, who can both develop physically and emotionally, for Emiru, and is last seen leaving them to bond with each other again.

Abilities[]

Like his subordinates, he can call forth a victim's Prickly Powerer with the words "This week's surprising me~cha~" (今週のビックリドンドンメ〜カ〜 Konshū no bikkuri dondon me~ka~)?. He can then turn this power into an Fierce Oshimaida with the words "I'm ordering you! Fierce Oshimaida!" (発注! 猛オシマイダー! Hatchū! Mō Oshimaidā!)?.

In episode 30, he appears to be skilled at ping-pong.

He is also highly skilled in creating robots, having made one that had the ability to manipulate time by making it go backwards or just freezing it completely. After his purification, he uses another one to defend Ruru and the other Cures from an Oshimaida attack and another during the final battle against Kurai. He also uses a special gauntlet to defend himself from Bicine's attack, which got stronger when his other former Criasu employees lent a hand.

Trivia[]

  • He and Listol are the only villains who don't shout "Negative Wave!" to summon an Oshimaida.
