Elisio (エリシオ)? is a villain, who later becomes the true main antagonist from KiraKira☆Pretty Cure A La Mode who works under Noir. He uses tarot cards to come up with tactics that aim to weaken the Cures during battles.
Bio
Appearance
Elisio is a tall man with fair skin. He has long silver hair tied in a thick braid and secured with a blue bead. His eyes are green with red irises. His attire consists of a long black and white tunic adorned with red buttons and cuffs, black pants, and blue flat shoes, along with a light blue scarf. He is often seen carrying a deck of cards.
When he is separated from Noir, his hair is loose, and he wears a long dark gray coat, gray pants, and black shoes. He also dons a loose light blue scarf.
When he fuses with Noir and Lumière, his coat features a cream color on one side, representing Lumière, and black on the other, representing Noir. The coat is fastened with a large dark red star-shaped brooch. His hair reflects the fusion of the two powers, appearing white and more voluminous on the right side and black on the left side, resembling Noir's style, with some red highlights in the front. His right eye is yellow, while the left one is red, and dark markings adorn the lower part of his face. He wields a long staff with a crescent-shaped blade at each end.
Personality
Elisio is a charming yet nihilistic character who views himself as merely a shell of his boss, Noir. He is a cunning strategist who relies on tarot cards and conducts thorough research on his targets' weaknesses before planning an attack. When Elisio starts to smile mysteriously, it's a sign that he's up to something.
Unlike Noir, Elisio detests emotions and prefers to live in a perfect utopia where feelings and memories do not exist. However, he ultimately has a change of heart after Cure Whip tells him that people's hearts can connect. Now, he looks forward to the world that the Cures have recreated.
Relationships
- Noir: His master and creator. He pretends to be his follower but eventually he decides to absorb Noir's powers as his own.
- Usami Ichika: He and Cure Whip are enemies, but after being convinced by Cure Whip that he has a person with his own heart, he changes his mind about her and looks forward to the world she strives to improve.
Etymology
"Elisio" is probably a form of "Elysium" (or "Elysian Fields"), the place of the afterlife in ancient Greek mythology.
History
Before the beginning of the season, Elisio was created from a cupcake which Noir stole from Lumière. Taking out all of its Kirakiraru, Noir's body was brought to life, and Elisio came into existence.
Elisio first appears along with his fellow companion Grave, where he talks with Grave about the Pretty Cure problem. KKPCALM24
His targets Yukari and Akira after they discover him being the culprit who has stolen Prince Nata's Kirakiraru. He blocks Yukari from recovering her sweets pact by covering it with dark pillars. He also confronts Akira, who transforms into Cure Chocolat and manages to lock her into dark pillars. He proceeds by torturing her, but she manages to break free. Angered, he creates a flower like monster by combining Kirakiraru and a flower. The Cures defeat the monster, with Cure Parfait delivering the final blow to it. Seeing all Pretty Cures together he introduces himself as Elisio and leaves. KKPCALM25
Elisio originally plans to target the festival, but changes his mind when he sees a heartbroken Aoi running away. He confronts her face to face and tells her that what she is feeling is called envy and that he can help her set those feelings free. With that said, he brainwashes her into dark Cure Gelato and orders her to destroy that which gives her pain. Thankfully Aoi remembers what music really means to her and manages to awaken from the brainwashing. He then summons another monster, but this time combining the speakers and Kirakiraru. Once again the monster is defeated, and he leaves the scene. KKPCALM27
He targets Yukari, since he senses loneliness from her heart. He shows up before her while she is carrying green macarons to her grandmother and tells her he has felt her loneliness, and then attacks her. Yukari transforms into Cure Macaron to fight him, but he summons a mirror which shows Yukari's younger self. Interested in her soul, Macaron enters the mirror. While in the mirror, the other Cures arrive to confront him and he summoned a clock tower like monster to battle the Cures. Inside the mirror, Yukari sees her young self, who is influenced by Elisio, telling her that her heart would always contain darkness and constrains her with dark ropes. Yukari manages to get out of the mirror world and together with other Cures helps defeat the monster. With his monster defeated, he remarks that Yukari isn't the young woman he was hoping for and disappears, leaving his cards behind. KKPCALM29
Elisio approaches Himari after unleashing darkness that seeps into the hearts of the staff members and audition participants. To Himari's horror, he takes one of her notebooks and burns it. Transforming himself into a film director, he traps her in her own past and, as he begins to influence her, tempts her to join the dark side. However, upon realizing that she can break free from her sadness and confront him, Elisio decides to face her directly. Ultimately, he retreats begrudgingly after Custard and the other Cures defeat him again. KKPCALM43
He gives Akira's sister Miku a creepy phone call, then proceeds to kidnap Miku from the hospital and traps her inside a snowman. When Chocolat confronts him, he tries to overhwhelm her, including absorbing himself with the snowman, but Chocolat's determination and love for her sister eventually overcomes him. KKPCALM44
He becomes fused with Noir so the latter can take on his original form, revealing Elisio to be only a vessel. However, during the battle against the Cures, Elisio separates himself from Noir, finding his battle against sweets to be pointless. He then plans on wiping the world of its emotions, first by absorbing Noir's powers, and then Lumiere's. Elisio then use their powers to turn the world into one with muted colors and where the Cures have now lost all emotions and memories. KKPCALM46
He confronts the Cures again after they are able to recover their memories and powers. He is then left with no choice but to fight them to retain the world he created. KKPCALM47
Elisio fuses himself with the powers of Noir and Lumière and confronts the Cures. Despite their best efforts, they are continuously defeated by Elisio. Just as he is about to seal them away in cards, Whip intervenes and knocks him back. The Cures then declare their loves before transforming into their A la Mode style forms. They use a powered-up version of Fantastic Animale to shatter Elisio's staff, sending him into the stratosphere. In a desperate last attempt, Elisio absorbs the Cures and the entire Earth into his coat, floating freely in space. Inside this dimension, the Cures attempt to defeat him by using the Kirakiraru of everyone on Earth, but Elisio claims it is powerless against him. He reveals that he has been a puppet for Noir without a true heart and believes that, without Noir, he can rule the world by eliminating love and eventually conflict. After some convincing from the Cures, Elisio allows his Kirakiraru to be mixed with that of the others, enabling the restoration of Earth. They successfully return the planet to its normal state. As the Cures land back on Earth, Elisio descends with them, now willing to embrace a world where different emotions coexist. He releases the cards containing Noir and Lumière before departing. Abilities
Elisio can not only uses his cards to acquire Kirakiraru, but he can also transform them into different objects, such as a cane or steel bars, to trap Cure Chocolat and prevent Yukari from reaching her Sweets Pact. Initially, he only used his Noir Miroir to create monsters that would fight the Cures. However, at the end of episode 40, he reveals that his true power is the ability to absorb the powers of others. From episode 41 onwards, he begins to utilize his Noir Metamorphose to transform himself into various characters to battle the Cures. He also uses these transformations to seal others within them, allowing him to obtain their powers.
Noir Miroir
Elisio shuffles his pack of cards from one hand to the other, then shouts, "Noir Miroir!" as he throws the cards into the air. One card briefly obscures the view, revealing a large black star on its surface. The cards then swirl around the object, transforming into a black cloud that expands into a large, intricately decorated cake. When the cake explodes, the object has been turned into a monster.
Noir Metamorphose
Elisio holds a card up in front of his face and then turns it around to reveal the character on it. He shouts, "Noir Metamorphose!" and leaps into a swirling black cloud that gets absorbed into the card. The card then disappears in a dark burst of stars, and Elisio reappears transformed into the character depicted on the card. In episode 48, it is revealed that Elisio's various Metamorphose forms are derived from previous villains who were presumably defeated by past Pretty Cures.
Trivia
- The director of Kirakira took inspiration from the beginning of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders to create Elisio.
- In fact, Elisio was made to be the evil version of Kakyoin, who his voice actor voiced in Stardust Crusaders.
