Charaleet (チャラリート?) is a former villain from HUGtto! Pretty Cure. He is a charming and youthful-looking man who used to work at the Criasu Corporation as a chief clerk in the Azababu Branch Office.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Charaleet has messy bleach blonde hair, light blue eyes, and light brown skin. His attire consists of white shoes, grey sweatpants, and a sleeveless black shirt with a yellow vest over it. He also wears a gold necklace and a gold bracelet.

As an Oshimaida, his hair becomes more darker and shaggier, he gains claws, and white talons, with the exception of his clothes becoming more ragged.

Personality[]

At first glance, Charaleet comes off as frivolous and cynical, dismissing and disliking the possibility of having a bright future. However, after he is purified, he proves himself to be quite charismatic and helpful towards others, as he is able to cheer both the customers and Hugtan up, even assuring Uchifuji-sensei that his wife was about to give birth. But he can still be a showboat sometimes.

Relationships[]

  • Daigan and Papple: His former colleagues who he used to be unfriendly and uncomfortable with, but they start getting along better after leaving the Criasu Corporation.
  • Hariham Harry and Hugtan: Despite initially being enemies and attacking both of them in the first episode, he is now on friendly terms with them. During the events of episode 27, he has a strong rivalry with Harry on who was the most handsome person, which even cheers Hugtan up.

Etymology[]

Charaleet’s name comes from ちゃらちゃら (charachara jingling, messing around, flashy?). The slang abbreviation ちゃら男 (charao?) describes a guy like him.

History[]

It is not explained how, when, or why Charaleet joined the Criasu Corporation.

In episode 1, he is eager to take on the job of looking for the White Mirai Crystal. After running into Cure Yell and then later Cure Ange, he withholds the information, and his failures to defeat them, from his superiors.

In episode 3, Ruru helps him track down the Pretty Cures with her data analysis. Unfortunately that doesn't give him better results, and in episode 5, it was revealed that Ruru told the management about his failures. When Listol is about to punish Charaleet, he pleads him for one last chance, saying he has a backup plan. President Kurai appears and says that he trusts Charaleet's words. Listol then decides to give him one last chance to prove himself. Although he is able to make a formidable Oshimaida from Homare's despair, Charaleet is still defeated when Homare's wish makes her stronger and allows her to transform into Cure Étoile.

After returning to the Criasu office in episode 6, he finds that his desk had been removed and put into storage.

In episode 11, Charaleet is forcefully turned into a gigantic Oshimaida-like monster to defeat the Pretty Cures as a final chance to prove himself to the Criasu Corporation, but was purified by the Trinity Concert. He is seen briefly in episode 12 on a YouTube-like video a woman is watching on her phone.

It is later revealed that, along with Papple and Daigan, he opens a talent agency. In order to earn money for supporting the agency, he takes on some jobs and even works in the HugMan Home Center. He also becomes an ally and temporary Pretty Cure during the final battle against George. He later returns to the future and is last seen appearing as an elementary school student in the reconstructed future.

Abilities[]

Like his other former colleagues, Charaleet can call forth a victim's Prickly Powerer by saying "Hope for tomorrow, begone! Negative Wave!" (明日への希望よ消えろ!ネガティブウェーブ! Asu e no kibō yo kiero! Negatibu Uēbu!?). He then turns this power into an Oshimaida by saying "I'm ordering you! Oshimaida!" (発注!オシマイダー! Hacchū! Oshimaidā!?).

Trivia[]

  • Charaleet’s character design might have been inspired by the popular man-gal fashion in Japan due to his tanned skin, blonde hair, and his aversion towards authority[1]
