Natsuumi Aoi (夏海碧?) is a minor character from Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure. She is Manatsu's mother and Taiyo's wife.
Bio
Appearance
Aoi has auburn hair worn in a ponytail and green eyes. She is often seen in her work uniform, which is composed of a cerulean polo shirt with a white and pink collar and the aquarium's logo on the left along with gray shorts, blue loafers, and white socks.
Outside of her work, she wears a blue top with a light yellow accent and lighter top including a branch in it, pale grey shorts, and brown and white sandals. She also wears a necklace with a gold circle.
Personality
Aoi appears to be rather energetic and enthusiastic, much like her daughter, Manatsu. She has a love for the ocean since she works at the local aquarium.
Relationships
- Natsuumi Taiyo: Her husband. She met him after she wished to have a magical encounter and placed a wishing stone in the ocean. Despite them being in a long-distance relationship, they share a loving relationship.
- Natsuumi Manatsu: Her daughter. Aoi is very encouraging towards Manatsu's energetic and motivated attitude. The two share the same energy, motivation, and enthusiasm.
History
Aoi makes a brief appearance in episode 1, where she greets Manatsu when she arrives at Aozora City, and then takes her to the aquarium.
She later meets Laura in episode 16, and in episode 17 she lets Laura move into the aquarium dorm.
In episode 23, when she and Taiyo join the girls in making wishes, she tells them that she once made a wish about having a magical encounter. After she placed her wishing stone in the water, she then met Taiyo for the first time. Though her recounting later confuses the girls when she also happily mentions that she got to meet a rare octopus during that day.
She and Taiyo have a gathering with Manatsu and her friends in episode 34, where she tells the girls that she used to want to be a ballerina, a veterinarian, and a manicurist, before settling down with her current occupation as an aquarist.
In episode 45, Aoi reads the memo that Laura left behind, learning that she and Manatsu had left earlier. She then receives a call from Taiyo who is concerned about Manatsu's safety, but despite her own worries, she tells him to trust their daughter. She along with Hirabayashi Mafune later express joy when they see the world turning back to normal, which is when they both meet Kururun. Although they are initially curious about the sea fairy, they quickly grow to like them.
In episode 46, during the graduation festival she is shocked to realize Laura is a mermaid, though she loses her memories about Laura later on due to the memory erasing machine's effects.

- Aoi's voice actress Gi Ryouko is the widow of the late Dan Tomoyuki, who voiced Hojo Dan in Suite Pretty Cure♪.
