The Gaogaon (ガオガオーン, Gaogaon)^? are the second type of monsters from Wonderful Pretty Cure! that first appear in episode 29. They are summoned by Gaou's generals by powering up an animal with their resented soul in the form of an Onibi (鬼火, Onibi^? "Demon Fire"). The generals also say a key phrase which varies according to the general carrying out the summon, as Torame powers up Garugaru eggs while Zakuro possesses the animal directly. In episode 39, it is revealed that Gaou can summon Gaogaon as well.

The Gaogaon are voiced by Takahashi Shinya.

Appearance

The Gaogaon closely resemble the Garugaru, except they have spikes on their masks and a flame-like tail. Additionally, they possess unique features that correspond to their summoners: Torame's Gaogaons are represented with yellow claws-like armor, Zakuro's have red flame-like adornments, and Gaou's features a cyan flame-like body with knots.

Etymology

Gaogaon (ガオガオーン, Gaogaon)^? is based on the sound "Gao" (ガオー, "Gao")^?, which is Japanese for "roar".
