Synopsis[]

In the Phantom Empire, Queen Mirage makes a speech before her minions to remind them of their purpose; she is conquering everything to make the world miserable. She believes that love, courage, kindness, and happiness are illusions, and promises to defeat the Pretty Cure. Her minions cheer.

Meanwhile, in Pikarigaoka, Japan, Cure Princess struggles to fight a Saiark, a giant monster fielded by Namakelder. Princess is a cowardly Pretty Cure and has never successfully defeated a Saiark. She flees, but her fairy partner Ribbon scolds her. Princess attacks with Princess Bullet Machine Gun, but it is not powerful enough. The Saiark blasts Princess with eye laser beams, causing her to de-transform. Namakelder orders the Saiark to finish her, and Ribbon throws herself in front of Princess in a last-ditch attempt to protect her.

Just then, Cure Fortune flies in and saves Princess, single-handedly defeating it with Fortune Star Burst. She purifies the Saiark with Fortune Stardust Shoot, freeing a human woman who Namakelder had trapped to create the Saiark. Fortune's fairy Glasan sneezes, producing two PreCards for her collection. Princess thanks Fortune for rescuing her, but Fortune angrily blames her for the world being overrun by Saiarks, and will never forgive her.

The next day, the cheerful Aino Megumi and her friend Omori Yuko are walking to school. Megumi excitedly sings a made-up song praising the Pretty Cure. Megumi is optimistic that the Pretty Cure will always be there to save them from the Saiarks.

At home, Shirayuki Hime, the real identity of Cure Princess, is lamenting her failure. Suddenly, Blue, a deity of Earth, enters through a nearby mirror and gives Hime a glowing pink Crystal of Love. He promises that the crystal will lead her to a treasured friend who will become her new Pretty Cure partner. However, Hime is too shy to talk to someone unfamiliar, but she is excited at the prospect of finally making a friend.

Hime, who has transformed into Cure Princess, flies to the top of a tower and decides to select her new partner by throwing the Crystal of Love randomly and picking whoever it lands on. It hits Megumi, who is on an errand to buy ingredients for cream stew for dinner. Megumi picks up the crystal and continues on her errands.

Hime follows Megumi and observes her as she collects ingredients for the cream stew, helps a girl named Mao recover a hat that fell into a pool, and interacts with her friends. They deduce that Megumi is a good and kind-hearted person. Once Megumi is alone, Ribbon pushes Hime into her path so that they meet. Hime is too shy to talk at first, but Megumi is impressed by Hime's cute fashion. This inspires Hime to infodump to Megumi, who is moved by Hime's love of fashion. Megumi introduces herself, and Hime gives her full name, Himelda Window, Cure Queen of the Blue Sky. Ribbon introduces herself as a fairy, revealing that Hime is a princess of the Blue Sky Kingdom, which impresses Megumi. Hime invites Megumi to become a Pretty Cure.

Meanwhile, Namakelder happens to find Mao walking down a pathway. He notices how happy she is to wear her hat, which annoys him. He traps her into a mirror, turning her joy into misery to create a Saiark. Everyone in the area runs away in fright.

Ribbon senses the Saiark's presence and leads the two to it. Hime transforms into Cure Princess to fight the Saiark, but is too weak to defeat it. Megumi stands in front of Hime to protect her. She is frightened, but refuses to abandon her friend. Namakelder argues that it is foolish for Megumi to put herself in danger for others, but Megumi rejects such a selfish belief and wishes for everyone's happiness. Her desire to protect others lights the Crystal of Love, creating PreChanMirror. She uses it transform into a Pretty Cure, which she knows how to do because she just saw Cure Princess do it.

Megumi takes the name Cure Lovely, because it's one of her favorite words. Entering the fight against the Saiark, she pledges to restore the everyone's happiness.
