The Great Baton Pass! Mashiro's Intense Relay (わたせ最高のバトン！ましろ本気のリレー Watase Saikō no Baton! Mashiro Honki no Rirē)? is the 17th episode of Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure and is the 935th episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall.
Summary[]
Sora is chosen to be the class relay race captain for the Sports Festival. Sora asks Mashiro to be the one to pass the baton to her. Mashiro accepts, and trains hard with Sora.

One day at school, Sora is chosen to be a captain of the relay race team for the upcoming Sports Festival. Sora accepts, but isn't sure what a relay is, so Mashiro explains to her what it is. Sora realizes that the rules are the same as a "raluy" in Sky Land and almost blows her cover again. Finally, Sora chooses Mashiro to pass the baton to her and she's completely shocked by the request.
At a café, the group discusses the upcoming relay. Ageha mentions how Mashiro always hated Sports Day and wonders if she's a good runner. While Mashiro wishes Sora should have chosen someone faster, Sora says that the most important part of a relay is the baton pass and she finds Mashiro to be the most dependable for passing it properly, leading Mashiro to accept it. She then asks Sora to help her with intensive training, and she happily agrees. Tsubasa also offers to help, and they accept him as well.
The group then heads to the park to begin Mashiro's training. Sora says the trick to running fast is to only look ahead while running, which could get difficult due to distractions. For her first try, Mashiro falls over after attempting to position her body similar to Sora's to help her body move forward. Once Mashiro finally meets up with Sora, she and Tsubasa keep offering Mashiro advice to help improve her performance. When it came time to practice the baton pass, Mashiro is successfully able to pass it to Sora, and Sora praises her before they continue working on it.
Later, Mashiro takes a break and asks if she ever loved to move her body around like Ellee-chan is doing, and Ageha recalls when Mashiro loved to have her chase her while playing tag when they were little. With that, Mashiro feels she has rediscovered something and continues training up until the day of the festival. In a video chat with her parents, she talks about how nervous she is, but her parents are proud of her and encourage her to do her best.
On the day of the Sports Festival, Mashiro is still nervous but Sora helps her relax. When it comes time for the race to begin, even Ageha becomes anxious for Mashiro, but Yoyo assures her that she had practiced really hard and should be fine. Mashiro's turn finally comes up and she does well at first, but just as she's about to reach Sora, she falls over. Mashiro is upset, but she gets back up due to her determination and gets back in the race. She is able to pass the baton to Sora and their team wins the relay race.
Even though they won, something bothers Mashiro, which Sora notices. Mashiro compliments Sora's running before she becomes upset and leaves. A short time later, Sora finds Mashiro washing her face and asks her what's wrong, but Mashiro lies at first saying she's just thirsty. She then admits to Sora that even though they won the race, she is disappointed in herself because she tripped when it mattered the most. However, Sora also apologizes and says she wanted to run with her best friend just as much as she wanted Mashiro to pass the baton. She also reminds Mashiro that she didn't look upset during the race and just kept looking forward and ran, which gave Sora the fire she needed to complete it. Mashiro is moved by Sora's words and cheers up.
Back at the track, Battamonda arrives and summons a line marker Ranborg. It kicks up a lot of dust, causing everyone to run away. After Tsubasa gives everyone their Mirage Pens, the Cures transform. They try to target the Ranborg, but it is too fast. Wing briefly subdues it with Wing Attack, but it quickly recovers and Sky can't land a hit on it. Then, Prism gives Sky one of her light balls, confident she'll be able to hit it. Sky remembers all the intensive training they did and she finally catches up with the Ranborg, slamming the light ball into it before she and Prism use Updraft Shining to purify it. After Sky collects the Kira Kira Energy in the Mirror Pad, Battamonda retreats.
At the end of the day, Mashiro feels that she's discovered a competitive side of herself and that she likes running more than she thought. Yoyo even compares her to Ellee-chan because of the possibilities she's finding. Mashiro then decides she'll start running with Sora every day now.
