The First Step Towards Mashiro's Dream (ましろの夢 最初の一歩 Mashiro no Yume Saisho no Ippo)? is the 20th episode of Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure and is the 938th episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall.
Summary[]
Ageha's co-worker and art school student Natsumi suggests that Mashiro enters the "Everyone's Picture Book" contest. Sora and the gang encourage her, and she decides to try making a picture book.

Synopsis[]
During a quiet morning at the house, Mashiro pours herself some tea when Ellee-chan asks to read her Cinderella, and she does so. After a long day of reading, the two join Sora and Tsubasa on their way to Pretty Holic, where Ageha recently started working part-time. When they arrive, Sora and Mashiro admire the new Pretty Up Lip colors while Tsubasa still thinks Ageha is working too hard.
Then, they are approached by Natsumi, one of Ageha's co-workers. Natsumi knows that Mashiro comes here often and asks her for some advice. Natsumi shows her a background painting she worked on for a display and asks her what she could add to it, and Mashiro thinks it looks like a mermaid's home. Natsumi then quickly adds a mermaid to the portrait and everyone admires it. Natsumi adds that she plans on entering a picture book contest, but she can't seem to get it right. Suddenly, she suggests that Mashiro should enter it too because of her good artistic sense. Mashiro is skeptical at first, but Ageha encourages her to enter.
The group goes to a home center where Sora finds a big sketchpad. She can't wait to find out what kind of picture book Mashiro will write, and she decides that she'll try. They then go to the park where Mashiro sits on a bench to work on her story while everyone else plays in the sandbox. Mashiro tries to think of something, but her ideas so far are too similar to other stories. She further embarrasses herself when a little girl tells her father that she's talking to herself.
Mashiro starts to doubt herself when Sora sits next to her and apologizes to her for causing any trouble. Mashiro realizes that she just doesn't have a dream like everyone else does. Just then, they notice that Ellee-chan doesn't want to share her toys with a little boy. Sora scolds Ellee-chan while Mashiro kindly asks her to share. After the mother comes pick up her son, Sora commends Mashiro for her approach, even though she couldn't get through to Ellee-chan. Mashiro then overhears a mom and her daughter reading Urashima Taro and she suddenly gets an idea. She picks up her sketchpad and heads home.
That afternoon, Mashiro works hard on her picture book, and the others are surprised at how focused she's become. Sora sends Mashiro some tea and cookies and is about to leave when Mashiro thanks her and tells her how much she's having. Days pass and thanks to everyone's help, Mashiro is able to complete her book. However, the deadline is in a couple of hours, and Mashiro has to hurry to drop it off.
The Cures quickly walk their way to the city hall when they have to stop at a traffic light. Battamonda notices them rushing and stops them. The Cures are clearly unhappy when him showing up, yet he still summons a Ranborg using one of the traffic lights. The Cures transform and begin to fight against it. However, when Butterfly attempts to use Butterfly Press, the Ranborg's red light flashes, causing her to stop in mid-air. Then Sky tries to use Sky Punch, but the red light flashes again, stopping her to stop as well. After the Ranborg's light changes to green, it dodges Sky's attack and the Cures become worried that thanks to the Ranborg's unpredictability, Prism will miss the deadline at the rate thing are going.
Sky then tells Prism to just continue to the city hall once the Ranborg's light becomes green again. Prism is unsure, but everyone supports her. Once the light turns green, Butterfly uses the Colorful Action Mix Palette to mix red and yellow, giving Sky the power of protection. This allows Sky to resist stopping when the Ranborg flashes the red light and break it. Prism grabs her envelope and starts running towards the city hall. After Sky punches the Ranborg one more time, Wing and Butterfly purify it with Titanic Rainbow Attack, and Sky collects the Kira Kira Energy with the Mirror Pad. Battamonda is angry that he keeps losing, but Sky declares that heroes will never lose to someone like him, and he leaves.
The other Cures hurry to meet up with Mashiro, who managed to submit her book in time. Later, they visit the exhibit and learn that Natsumi has won first place. Natsumi thanks them for the compliments and says she also liked Mashiro's book, wishing she could paint as gently as her someday. Sora soon finds Mashiro's book, which is titled The Swing. It is about a little girl who finds a swing in the woods when a boy asks if he could swing with her, and she allows him. As they swung, all the forest animals come and help push the swing until they see a rainbow in the sky. The Cures all loved Mashiro's story and, despite not winning the contest, she decides that she will continue to write books that will touch Ellee-chan and the others.
