Ha-chan (はーちゃん)? is one of the three main Cures in Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure!. As a young girl, Ha-chan goes by the name Hanami Kotoha (花海ことは)?. She's a second-year student at Magic School in the Magic World and also attends Tsunagi First Middle School in the No Magic World again as a second-year student. She is later revealed to be the reincarnation and successor of Mother RaPaPa.
Her alter ego is Cure Felice (キュアフェリーチェ)?, the Pretty Cure of Life, which is the final form that she can transform into. She's prone to ending her sentences with "Ha" (はー)?. As a goddess, she is known as "Inheritor of Mother RaPaPa" or "Mother RaPaPa II".

Appearance
Ha-chan has pink hair and big, round turquoise eyes with pink flower flecks in them. She also had blush. When born, her hair was very thin and framed her head with a daisy and a single leaf on top at the middle of her forehead. Her outfit was a mint onesie with a pink sphere on the chest that had emerald wings.
As a toddler, her hair became fluffier with a curled pigtail on top of her head, with two flowers and a leaf. She gained two tiny strands on her forehead. She now wore a light turquoise long-sleeved dress and darker shoes. She started to grow light mint round wings.
As a little girl, her hair was worn in buns with four thin spiked strands on her forehead. She now had three flowers on her head, and two more in front of her ears. She began wearing an emerald green puffy top with white scallopped trim beneath a pastel turquoise blouse and three pink flowers on the chest, paired with a white flower-shaped skirt and her shoes gained daisies with leaves at the sides on them. She begins wearing an emerald green headband with a daisy on each side. She now wears a pale mint off-shouldered blouse with pastel turquoise shoulder straps, trim, and a white ruffle trim around the chest bound by a magenta ribbon band. Her scalloppws light turquoise skirt has a pastel yellow butterfly on each side, and is laced with pale yellow frills as a petticoat. Her waistband is emerald. Her flats are turquoise with cerise spheres and light mint leaves on top, worn with pale cream frilly-cuffed socks.
In ~MIRAI DAYS~, Kotoha's headband, skirt, waistband, and shoes remain the same. However, she has added a pale mint collar with a dark pink bow and pale yellow frilly laces to her blouse, and each of the blouse's pale mint cuffs has an additional ribbon.
In winter, she wears a cream turtleneck with a pink flower button, a green skirt, moss green tights, sand boots, and a green jacket.
In the movie, she wears a white ruffled top with a dark brown belt and a pale brown long-sleeved scalloped bolero jacket. Her skirt is light emerald with turquoise lining with brown loafers and white socks. For the festival, some of her hair is braided and is decorated with flowers. She also wears yellow tights with red shoes and white socks. She also wears a choker with a with gold butterfly in the middle.
As Cure Felice, she becomes the same height as Miracle and Magical and the flower marks in her eyes reappear. Her eyes are more slit and gentle. Her hair turns slightly lighter and grows to her knees, worn in a pair of braided twin-tails held by daisies. Her bangs grow to her waist with a yellow butterfly clip at each end. She wears a gold forehead accessory with a tiny emerald hanging from the center. She also wears a green scalloped band with translucent leafy pale turquoise ruffles hanging from the sides decorated with a flower on the right, and a yellow butterfly on the left. In the middle of her bangs above the clips are daisies. Her outfit consists of a pastel green top with a white fluffy skirt and a pale pink lace layer over it covered in orange and pink flowers. The chest has a dark pink rose with a leafy design, an emerald orb as the brooch, and the sleeves are cream, ruffly, and elbow-length, secured by emerald bands. The scalloped waistband is emerald with dots at the ends. The Linkle Smartbook hangs from a vine around the waist in a pale pink rectangular purse with light lime lining and a hot pink ribbon in the middle of the flap, and she has a green choker with a gold pearl at the middle. She wears green scalloped wristbands with a pastel green chain attached to a pink flower ring on the middle finger and green leaf-shaped earrings. Her emerald heels have scalloped, split tops, a white and gold-centered butterfly on the top of the foot, and pastel green crisscrossed ribbons around her legs accented with daisies resting on dark green leafy bows on top.

On the top of her head is a thick buns with a braid running across the middle, a pale mint butterfly bow in the back, two daisies in the middle, and four dark green leaves on each side, a thin white strip coming from behind and flowing freely. Four pieces of it connect to a daisy with a pink bead and droplet hanging below. Her dress changes entirely into a pale turquoise one that reaches her ankles and is wrapped in green vines and emerald ribbons. The bottom ribbon has a big hot pink rose with the tails flowing past the feet followed by holly berries and more roses. The middle ribbon has a daisy. The top ribbon curves to the chest with a lily and her brooch is the Linkle Stone Alexandrite. At the bottom of the dress is a light green ruffly lining followed by glowing pink orbs at each tip. The light mint sleeves are see-through with an opening around the lower part of the arm. She also has a short cream winged cape. Her wrist protectors are dark green with multiple straps and leafy pieces in the middle to accent her flats that have crisscrossed straps and ankle straps. Her middle fingers have pink spherical rings. Her flats have a daisy on the foot and ankles, followed by two little holly berries below. On her right wrist is the Precious Bracelet.
Her Heartful Style is the evolved form of Alexandrite Style. The flowers in her hair turn yellow, and her bow becomes pale pink and winged with pale green ribbon tails. The headdress is also white and the jewelry below the daisy turns red, same for the beads holding her pigtails. Her dress turns white and the ribbon wrapping turns pale yellow. The tails are now wing-like. The sleeves turn pale green, while the rose on the bottom ribbon ecomes a fuchsia five-petal flower with a mint heart in the center and pale pink angel wings beneath, the rose at the side paling in color and the flower on the middle ribbon turning yellow. Her wrist pieces and shoes are now white, and the flowers on her shoes turn pink and yellow. The dress trimming turns paler. She gains light pink angelic wings.
As the second Mother RaPaPa, she has lengthened pink hair tied into a hair bun and two long braids resembling her Alexandrite style, along with her side bangs being extended. She wears a ring-like pale green headdress with a dark pink petaled and yellow centered flower, a long frilled white shawl, a set of translucent pale green sleeves and frilly collar with a green tulip chest emblem akin to the Linkle Stone Alexandrite donned on a long white dress, and light green high-heels. Her eyes regain their flower eye markings in this form.
Personality
When Ha-chan was just a young fairy, she acted a lot like a normal toddler, always wanting to play, and getting rather moody when things don't go her way. She could get rather sleepy after eating or drinking something and usually returned to the Linkle Smartbook for rest.
As Ha-chan grows older and goes under the name Kotoha, she sometimes acts quite mature, yet still mostly cheerful, fun-loving, and sweet. Due to Mirai being full of curiosity and Liko being a hard worker, Kotoha has been strongly influenced by both of them and tends to exhibit extremely similar behavior that bears resemblance of their personalities. She is optimistic and always believes in the good of people, despite her naivety getting her into trouble. Although she has an innate gift of using Magic, Kotoha had no idea why or how she is talented at it, until she inherited the ultimate power of Mother RaPaPa.
At times, Kotoha is unsure about her own identity, mainly her role as the second Mother RaPaPa. However, she is able to accept herself as her own person when she remembers the positive experiences in her life.
As Cure Felice, she is more composed and mature. However, she still retains her kindness and optimism, and occasionally lets her more childish side slip.
Relationships
- Asahina Mirai: Ha-chan is really fond of Mirai. When she was younger, she usually depended on her to feed her and could get easily upset if she wasn't given the attention she wanted. After growing older, she strives to repay her love become stronger so Mirai can be proud of her. As said by herself in both the season and the manga, she sees Mirai as her own mother.
- Izayoi Liko: Much like Mirai, Ha-chan loves Liko a lot. As a child, she usually depended on her to feed her but could also get rather upset if she didn't pay enough attention to her. After growing older, Ha-chan remains close with her while also strives to repay her love become stronger so Liko can be proud of her. It is further implied in both the season and the manga that much like how she views Mirai, Ha-chan also views Liko as her own mother. Since both are from the Magic World, they have a special connection.
- Mofurun: Ha-chan has always been somewhat close with Mofurun since she has helped with taking care of her. Mofurun has been seen at Ha-chan's side even during her rough times like when she was discouraged about the cookies. She also considers Mofurun to be her older sister.
- Jade: A merman prince she met when being in the Magic World. She is the only person in Jade's life to love him unconditionally, despite his initial rough and rude attitude towards her. She ever goes for great lengths to risk herself just to undo his curse, and promises to reunite with him before they part ways. He is by far the only person she is romantically attracted to, regardless of her young age and naivety.
- Ono Souta: Ha-chan befriends Souta by bonding with him over soccer, after she becomes a middle school student. Seven years later, Ha-chan plays a part in saving Souta after Chronosto traps him inside a statue, by begging him to reconsider his mindset on his life.MTPCMD07
- Hisui: Her creation, after Felice separated her magic from herself when she was attacked by Chronosto and Ire.MTPCMD01MTPCMD06 Although initially upset over causing Hisui's disappearance, Kotoha later meets Hisui, and she accepts Hisui as a part of herself after their hands touch.MTPCMD08
Etymology
Hanami (花海)?: Hana (花)? means 'flower' which is probably a reference to the flower like theme she has going on. Mi (海)? means 'sea'. Liko comes up with the last name after Kotoha recalls seeing a flower field, which turns out to be the Fairy Village, when Mirai's mother asks Kotoha to introduce herself.
Kotoha (ことは)? means 'word' or 'spell', which is a reference to how witches use spells to cast magic. It is also a variant of the name Kotoba (ことば)?. Kotoha chooses her first name because she says that her heart is full of warm words from others.
"Ha" means "leaf" or an onmatopoeia for laughter, while "-chan" is a suffix used commonly for children or among girls.
Cure Felice: Felice, taken from the Italian language, means happy or fortunate.[1]
History
Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure!
After the first Mother RaPaPa passed away after sealing away Deusmast, she would be reborn as a baby fairy that was sealed and asleep in the Linkle Smartbook for eons,MTPCMD06 before her reawakening into her successor, who would be later named by Mirai and Liko as Ha-chan.MTPC05
Ha-chan was born out of a flower into Mirai's hands from the Linkle Smartbook, after the Pretty Cure's battle with Gamettsu.MTPC04 Over time, she had grown thanks to the care Mirai and Izayoi Liko had provided for her.
Ha-chan undergoes her first growth phase into a toddlerMTPC05 and then the second becoming a child.MTPC11 She is upset with Mirai and Liko ignoring her, and feeds herself with the available Linkle Stones, which results in her changing forms and Sparda capturing her, until both Miracle and Magical rescue and apologize to her. She also assists Mirai and Liko on defeating Sparda, Gamettsu and Batty, but unfortunately along with the Linkle Smartbook and Linkle Stone Emerald, she falls into the hands of Dokurokushe.MTPC15
She grows into her final stage as an adolescent and uses her powers to quell Dokurokushe's dark power. But she subsequently loses some of her powers and becomes a regular human, resulting in her being stuck in the No Magic World.MTPC21
Using the power of the Linkle Stone Emerald, Ha-chan transforms into Cure Felice for the first time, saving Mirai and Liko from Yamoh's super-powered Yokubaru.MTPC22 After the battle, she reveals herself to be Ha-chan to both girls, although she initially struggles to figure out why she is chosen in the first place, until she remembers how she wants to be both Miracle and Magical's strength, as they are family to her. She adopts the name "Hanami Kotoha" after she decides to live with the Asahina family.MTPC23
Throughout the next few episodes, Kotoha is shown to have great magic power at her disposal, but she tries to come to terms with it, thus becoming a prime target for Yamoh. Because of this, she thinks that she is endangering Mirai and Liko's lives. She even gets captured by him after she strives to stop implicating Mirai and Liko by running away from them because she thinks that she has created a mess for both of them and that they must have lied to her about her failed cookies, but thanks to the other two Cures' declaration of love and desire to stay with her and the power of the Pink Tourmaline Linkle Stone, she is freed and purifies Yamoh, and reconciles with both of them. However, nobody other than Mirai and Liko recognizes her as the baby fairy they know, including Jun, Kay, and Emily whom she reveals her identity. She then attends schools in the No Magic World and Magic World respectively.MTPC26
Kotoha returns to her fairy form upon entering the Fairy Village, and the Legend Queen probes that she has a strong association with Mother RaPaPa.MTPC43 This is soon confirmed by Orba, who divulges her position as the successor of Mother RaPaPa's powers.MTPC45
Upon inheriting Mother RaPaPa's powerful magic, Kotoha ultimately separates both worlds as a goddess, as well as leaving Mirai and Liko behind. Nevertheless, she is able to reunite with Mirai, Liko and Mofurun after Mirai reignites the magic of miracles a few years later.MTPC49
Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure!! ~MIRAI DAYS~
A year after reuniting with Mirai, Liko and Mofurun, Kotoha continues her duty of being a life deity who oversees and protects the universe. However, she soon encounters Ire, a mysterious villain who has tamed one of Deusmast's surviving followers. Being forcibly revealed to be Cure Felice in front of him, she is unable to fight back against Ire in time. Felice is then swallowed up by Ire's Dark Magic and disappears in an explosion of light.MTPCMD01 It is eventually revealed by Ire that Kotoha empowered Hisui with her own power, before losing her physical body during the explosion, and later being sealed into the Linkle Smartbook by Ire.MTPCMD06
Kotoha is briefly seen again by Hisui when Hisui casts magic for the first time, before she once again disappears.MTPCMD04 She later reappears in front of Miracle and Magical, and warns them about the Time Beast Chronosto, who turns out to be Ire's dog. However, she is unable to explain to both Cures about Hisui's disappearance.MTPCMD06
Kotoha later reveals that she sacrificed most of her magic to create Hisui, and grant Mirai and Liko the power to transform again. She also explains that Chronosto is a dangerous beast that existed before chaos and life, and it can freeze all space if fully revived. When Kotoha realizes that Chronosto has trapped Souta inside a statue, she calls out to remind the trapped Souta that he can still find happiness in the present. This also helps Miracle find the resolve to resist Chronosto's temptation. Kotoha is relieved when Souta is safe again, and tells him that she and the other girls will always be there for him.MTPCMD07
After being told by Chikurun that Hisui is now currently inside her, Kotoha starts feeling conflicted about herself. She is then trapped inside a statue by Chronosto, who believes he can make good use of her despite describing her as scraps and leftovers. However, as Kotoha reminisces her past, she finally gets to meet Hisui. By accepting Hisui as part of herself, Kotoha breaks out of the statue she is trapped in, and regains both her magic and the Linkle Smartbook. Transforming into Cure Felice again, she purifies the monster and saves Noguchi Sara from the watch statue. She then gets to have fun with Mirai, Liko and Mofurun by having nabe for dinner.MTPCMD08
Felice, along with Miracle and Magical, fights hard against Chronosto. Despite performing Extreme Rainbow, their efforts are in vain, and Felice is trapped in the past with her friends. Kotoha brings up how she escaped being trapped in the past before, but mentions they'll lose their memories, and reveals that's how she became Hisui. Kotoha's power envelops the girls in a warm light, and her statue fades away as she vows to meet her friends again.MTPCMD11Fortunately, Kotoha is able to reunite with Mirai and Liko, and finally succeeds in defeating Chronosto. She later decides to join Mirai and Liko as Maho Girls, so she can oversee the two worlds and be with her friends. She and the other girls then fly off to help people from the No Magic World.MTPCMD12
Cure Felice
Cure Felice
"Spreading blessings to lives far and wide! Cure Felice!"
あまねく生命に祝福を!キュアフェリーチェ!
Amaneku inochi ni shukufuku wo! Kyua Ferīche!
Cure Felice (キュアフェリーチェ)? is the Pretty Cure alter ego of Ha-chan. She controls the power of life, and is represented by the flower and transforms with the phrase "Felice・Fun Fun・Flowerle!". Her main attack is Emerald Reincarnation, which she can only perform if she has her weapon, Flower Echo Wand.
Alexandrite Style
Alexandrite Style
Alexandrite Style (アレキサンドライトスタイル)? is the form that Kotoha obtains in episode 31, alongside Mirai and Liko. To transform, she must already be in her Emerald Style, and she must be with Mirai and Liko. She should have Mofurun, her Linkle Stone Alexandrite and the Rainbow Carriage to perform Extreme Rainbow in this form.
Transformation
- Felice・Fun Fun・Flowerle!: The Linkle Stone Emerald appears and floats alongside the Linkle Smartbook. Kotoha, with her hair and yellow dress glowing and holding the stylus, shouts "Cure Up・RaPaPa!" and holds it up in the air. The stone then inserts itself into the book and she says "Emerald!" before drawing the letter F on the screen, and once it does appear on the screen, the word "Felice" is spelled out. Then, Kotoha says "Felice・Fun Fun・Flowerle!" as she draws a circle and points the stylus forward, and it becomes filled with flower designs. The circle moves a bit and green vines with leaves on them sprout out the middle and surround Kotoha. Then images of Ha-chan in her first three forms and Kotoha herself are shown as her height changes. The skirt appears first and then a vine grows upward on her body and vines start to surround her arms and body, forming her top. Then more vines wrap around her legs and form her shoes. Then the flowers on her shoes, skirt and top bloom. Her hair then lengthens and turns bright pink and styled in braided pigtails. Then her hair accessories, tiara, and earrings appear. She then strikes a pose as the Linkle Smartbook appears on the left side of her hip. A yellow butterfly lands on the left side of her hairpiece and flowers appear in the irises of her eyes. Felice then spins around as the flower opens and a wing-like ribbon appears on her back, resembling flower petals. She is seen sitting on top of a flower, saying part of her introduction before blowing pink flower petals into the air. She then introduces herself as she strikes her final pose.
Attacks
- Emerald Reincarnation (エメラルドリンカネーション)?: Cure Felice's main attack that she can only perform with her Flower Echo Wand. She first performs it in episode 22.
- Linkle Pink Tourmaline (リンクルピンクトルマリン)?: The sub attack that Cure Felice performs for the first time in episode 26. To use it, she must have her Flower Echo Wand and the Linkle Stone Pink Tourmaline.
- Extreme Rainbow (エクストリームレインボー)? is the first group attack that Cure Felice performs with Cure Miracle and Cure Magical. To perform it, she must be in her Over The Rainbow Style and have the Linkle Stone Alexandrite to insert onto the Mofurun's bow.
- Heartful Rainbow (ハートフルレインボー)? is the group attack Cure Felice performs with the others for the first and only time in the movie.
Abilities
Ha-chan is shown to have abilities to use with the Linkle Smartbook and is able to power the Cures' attacks. For example, she uses the book to allow Sapphire Smartish to power up and defeat Sparda in episode 16. In episode 11, she shields Mofurun from a Yokubaru attack with an energy barrier.
In episode 22, Ha-chan transforms into Cure Felice and gets the power of the Emerald Linkle Stone and the Flower Echo Wand which has an attack called Emerald Reincarnation.
She is able to understand animal speech, first seen in episode 28 when she talks with the pegasus.
Limitations
Despite being the successor of the previous Mother RaPaPa, Ha-chan has limitations against supernatural beings she has no experience against, due to her young age. Examples include Chronosto, who is used by Ire to steal her magical powers at the start of ~MIRAI DAYS~, and Supreme, who is able to overpower her in one shot during Supreme's first battle against the 78 Cures in All Stars F. Separating herself with her powers to create a new being, namely Hisui, can also cause her to lose her own magic for a short while.
Also, sometimes some of Ha-chan's magic can have side effects, due to being so powerful. For example, her age regression or progression spell results in herself, along with Mirai and Liko, having arm and leg aches after wearing off.MTPCMD10
Songs
Kotoha's voice actress, Hayami Saori, has participated in several image songs for the character she voices. Many of them include group songs with Takahashi Rie, who voices Asahina Mirai, Horie Yui, who voices Izayoi Liko, and Saitou Ayaka, who voices Mofurun.

- Grow up in the span of a season's run.
- Be a green colored Cure who joins the team as the third member, and has pink hair.
- Not have an official birthday since the Smile! cures.
- Be a deity.
- Kujou Hikari was initially counted as one, until her separation from the Queen in Max Heart's last episode.
- Be a successor and reincarnation to a deceased character, without having direct or indirect blood relations to them.
- As indicated by Chronosto, Ha-chan is technically an immortal being with eternal lifeMTPCMD11, meaning that she won't age significantly or die under normal circumstances unless she exhausts her magic like the first Mother RaPaPa did.
- Ha-chan can't cast magic or transform into Felice if she lacks strong feelings or happiness.MTPC26
- Ha-chan is the only Mahou Tsukai Cure who hasn't aged in appearance. This is probably due to her not being fully human.MTPC49
- It is also due to her being the youngest in the Mahou Tsukai! team, having only grown into her teenage form in a matter of months.
- Although mostly being called Kotoha in her human form, Ha-chan's birth name is still used as a nickname by people who are closer to her. Such as Mirai's family, her friends and Kouchou, as well as Mirai, Liko and Mofurun.MTPCMD06MTPCMD07
- Magic Crystal once predicted that once catastrophe came upon the worlds, Ha-chan's magic would be awakened with potent radiance of life.
- She is shown to have a large appetite, where she digs in lots of strawberry melon bread at once.MTPC23
- Her favorite color is emerald green, as revealed in the eighth chapter of the Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure! Manga.
- Ha-chan's hair and eye color scheme is the inverse of her predecessor, Mother RaPaPa; she has pink hair and green eyes, whereas Mother RaPaPa has green hair and pink eyes.
- Kotoha is the only victim of Chronosto to break free from his statue on her own in ~MIRAI DAYS~.
- In the Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure! Manga, there are several additional stories about Ha-chan/Kotoha:
- In Chapter 6, a child Ha-chan tries to play in different ways, but ends up causing lots of chaos. After watching a video about toddler Mirai doodling on walls, Mirai, Liko and Mofurun take Ha-chan to a flower field, where Ha-chan befriends a little girl who she saves by growing and becoming Cure Felice.
- This contradicts the events of episode 22, where she has already grown into her teenage form and becomes Felice to help Miracle and Magical from Yamoh.
- In the Extra Chapter 01, Kotoha visits the Mermaid Village with her team, when suddenly a monstrous shark attacks them. After learning that the shark is the mermaid prince Jade, who is cursed by a petty magician girl due to his arrogant personality and has poison that can hurt anyone that touches him, while under the condition to lift the curse is for him to find true love in three days. Despite his personality, Kotoha remains kind and caring to Jade, which slowly warms his heart as they form a close bond, until the magician girl reappears and inflicts the curse even further. Not wanting to see him suffer, Felice risks herself to hug him as her way to show that how much she cherishes him, finally undoing Jade's curse and saving all of the mermen. In the end, Kotoha and Jade part ways with each other and promise to meet each other again someday.
- In Chapter 7, Kotoha tries to help cheering the Asahina family up with a gag, but it doesn't work. She then tries to stop Daikichi's robot from smoking but accidentally breaks it instead, which causes her to get depressed. But after being taught by Mirai and Liko that she should learn how to think of what makes a person happy by giving what they need, Kotoha makes shaved ice for the family to cheer Daikichi up, and the next day performs another gag with Liko for the Asahina family.
- In Chapter 8, Kotoha enrolls into Mirai and Liko's school and her sweet and kind personality immediately gets attention from the softball captain, the music club captain and the drama club captain respectively. Wanting to please all three of them, Kotoha tries out all of their activities, only to wear herself out and collapses. After both Mirai and Liko advise her to prioritize her own feelings, Kotoha decides to set up her own "love club" so she can understand everyone's feelings better, which makes her school peers adore her even more.
- She shares her voice actor with the cat from the same season, and Hisui from its sequel.
- Revealed in the Mahou Tsukai! after-party event, Kotoha and Hisui now share the same body. They swap control whenever one of them sneezes, and in rare occasions can even swap into Mother RaPaPa.[2]
