Bio[]
Appearance[]
In her dog form, Komugi is a Papillon. She has fur that is mainly pale brown with a darker shade on her ears, tail, and the sides of her face. She also has an even darker patch of fur in the shape of a heart on the back of her head. Her fluffy ears have darker tips and she has vivid brown cheeks. On her face, there is a large, upward curled lock of beige fur. The tail is unkempt. Her heart-shaped paws are pink. Her round eyes are burgundy, and she wears a magenta bow with a gold butterfly pendant. After gaining the power of a Pretty Cure, Komugi's pendant gets swapped with a round, golden one with a magenta design composed of two ribbon tails forming a heart.
As a human, Komugi retains her eyes and her mouth is in the shape of her dog form. She now has bright chestnut brown hair resembling the color of her fur, with a piece in the center of her head with her lock retained, though it is darker in color. She has a shoulder-length messy ponytail resembling the dog ears in her original form that splits, held by a magenta bow. She has small thick eyebrows. Casually, she wears a big pale pink scalloped smock with a two-layered pink and dark magenta hood and drawstrings forming a ribbon. Her puffy sleeves are held by a thin magenta band, and heart-shaped pockets. Her carry bag where her Wonderful Pact resides is stored at the left, which is white with a large bow and a yellow heart in its center - the bow having pink in the upper left, purple in the upper right, blue in the lower left, and teal in the lower right to indicate her and her teammate’s main colors along with a white strap to keep the carry bag secured. There's also a magenta heart-shaped strap at the left that keeps her carry bag attached. She has dark red shorts and white socks, covered by her pale pink rubber sneakers that have magenta laces, toes, collars, and scalloped soles.
In the winter, Komugi wears a pink hoodie with a pale fuchsia undershirt, pink scallops around the shoulders, a cerise hood, a thin light purple ribbon on her chest, and magenta bands at the ends of the sleeves puffed. A pocket's at the bottom. Her frilly skirt has two layers of magenta and hot pink, and she wears pink socks covered by her knee-length boots that are pink with hot pink cuffs on top with a slit and cerise soles, She sometimes wears a light pink puffy coat with a magenta front lining and matching sleeves with pink bands at the end over it, with the hoodie and ribbon retained.
In the movie, Komugi wears a short-sleeved fuchsia jacket with puffy sleeves, a round collar, and two dark magenta bows on the right and one on the left along with brilliant cerise sleeve bands. Worn under it is a pale pink blouse with a wide ruffly peplum at the bottom. Her short-shorts are also magenta and she also has pale pink sneakers with fuchsia soles and cerise bows on top along with white baggy socks. Her carry bag is retained.
As a puppy, Komugi remained the same as her current dog form's appearance. However, she used to wear a dark pink collar with a bow on its back. Her ears were shorter.
As a Gaogaon, Komugi has dark mulberry fur, and her size enlarges. Her eyes become red and her face has a dull cobalt mask that stretches upwards above. It has two spiked points at the bottom, lined with a red streak that circles her narrow red eye markings that are outlined in black plus a red crease on top. She gains a red flaming tail, her nose becomes red, and has dark red tips on her sharper ears. Her four legs have four silver shackles like the other Gaogaons. She gains fangs, red claws, and her red lock turns messy. Her beige markings turn dull purple.
As Cure Wonderful, Komugi's hair grows to the leg, and is wavy and unkempt, turns pink with light yellow ends. It is mainly worn down with small amounts pulled into twin-tails that resemble her dog ears. Her lock is light yellow. She gains heart-shaped highlights. On the right side of her head is a puffy hot pink and gold crown with a little magenta heart on top with a gold trim on the right attached to a gold headband. The bottom of the crown has gold dots. Her butterfly-shaped earrings are gold, and her eyes turn purple, pink, and light blue with light yellow pupils. Her outfit consists of a swan-neck cerise collar with a white stripe that has a purple bow with very light pink stripes attached to it, resembling Cure Friendy's colors. On her bow is a magenta heart with a gold trim. Her puffy frilly sleeves are pearl blue, and her split cuffs are pink with cream frills. Her dress is mainly light cerise with a pale yellow insert. Her skirt has two layers, with the top ruffly layer having a pale pink lining and a dark magenta stripe going through the middle, and the bottom layer is baby blue and scalloped. Below is a pearl pink bubble skirt. On top of her skirt are hot pink ribbons with pale yellow stripes on each side. She wears her carry bag on her left waist. Her striped tights are light fuchsia and light yellow, and her split short boots are pink with cerise soles, magenta little back ribbons, toes, and crisscrosses on the front.
In her Diamond Ribbon Style, her hair becomes longer and thicker and her crown turns into a pale pink round egg-like hat with a light purple jagged base, a magenta heart on top with light purple lining, two wings with a magenta bow on the left side, and one wing on the right. Her headband turns magenta with a multicolored horn-like accessory on the left. Her earrings remain the same. Her dress turns white with a light pink bodice that closes at the neck and is held with a magenta choker that has white scalloped ruffles at the top and bottom. On her chest is a looped magenta, purple, blue, and teal ribbon to represent her teammates' colors, and a pastel blue diamond-shaped brooch lined in gold with a crown at the top. White heart-shaped fabric covers the front part of the bodice. Her sleeves are loose and consist of magenta-and pale yellow-striped ribbons with white scalloped ruffles on the top and bottom that go around the shoulders. Around her waist is a magenta-and pale yellow-striped sash with a matching bow at the back and her Wonderful Pact on her left waist. The top layer of her skirt is white and scalloped with a magenta-and-pale yellow-striped ribbon lining the bottom and very long bows with purple hearts in the middle on each side, resembling Cure Friendy's colors and accenting the ones on the foot, with both having a tail longer than the other up front. The skirt has three more scalloped layers each fading into a darker shade of pink. There is a long feathery train that opens in the front made of three more scalloped layers of different shades of pink in the back and connects to the bows. Her wristbands are white with light pink scalloped ends and a magenta ribbons around the wrists. Her boots are long and white with pink round cuts, two small pink buttons behind the foot heart, magenta bows in the back, and pink soles.

When she is knocked unconscious by Subaru's attack, Komugi is able to interact with the spirit of Gaou. She learns that Gaou wanted to talk with Subaru as well, allowing her the chance to get through Subaru's hardened heart and purify him at last.
Etymology[]
Inukai (犬飼)?: Inu (犬)? means "dog",[1] which refers to Komugi's original form being a dog. Kai (飼)? is a character commonly used when you talk about keeping a pet, with the word "飼" itself means to feed animals and to nurture life.[2][3]
Komugi (こむぎ)? means "wheat".[4]
Kurihara (栗原)?: Kuri (栗)? means "chestnut",[5] referring to the brown fur on her head and tail. Hara (原)? means "field".[6]
Marron (マロン)? means "brown" in Spanish. It is also French for "Chestnut" referring to her brown fur.[7]
Cure Wonderful means "extremely good."[8] "Wonderful" is also a pun on a dog's bark, "Wan" (ワン lit. "Woof")?.[9] According to the Wonderful Pretty Cure! Official Complete Book, this was thought of from the series head writer, Narita Yoshimi, who intended on having the pun in her name. It also comes through Iroha's catchphrase "Wonderful!", which Komugi likes to imitate, which helped Narita naturally assume Komugi's Cure name.
History[]
Pre-series[]
When Komugi was younger, she was named Marron and looked after by her previous owner Kurihara two years ago. However, one day she escaped from the volunteer shelter sometime after Kurihara was sent to a healthcare facility.WPC38
One rainy day, a younger Komugi was lying underneath a shrub until a young Iroha came across her. Initially, Komugi was distrustful of humans, as she growled at the young elementary school student, who was inquiring about the young pup's condition. Iroha soon brought the injured Komugi to her family's animal clinic, where her wounds were tended to. Sometime later, Komugi was officially adopted by Iroha's family, where she started to share her life with her new owner.WPC02
When Komugi was recovering from her injuries, Komugi licked Iroha's hand. Komugi was then looked after by Iroha but was still too scared to use the leash to go on walks. Komugi, however, started to bond with Iroha and even slept by Iroha's head when she noticed Iroha sleeping near her. When Iroha found a cute leash, Komugi accepted it as she felt closer to Iroha because she chose the leash for Komugi.WPC05
Becoming A Human And Transforming Into Cure Wonderful[]
Komugi wakes Iroha up so they can go for their morning walk. Upon returning from said walk, Komugi is given breakfast but becomes upset when Iroha has to leave to play in the school volleyball match. Unable to join Iroha, Komugi sulks by the window in Iroha's bedroom. Komugi dreams of being a human, but is a dog again when Iroha leaves her behind to play with her human friends. After Iroha gets back, Komugi is taken on a walk around the town, where Komugi briefly interacts with Toyama Daifuku. At Kaihin Park, Komugi plays fetch with Iroha, but when Komugi runs to retrieve the ball, Komugi stumbles upon a sparkling stone. Komugi doesn't think too much about it, but then senses bad energy, and growls in the direction it's coming from to protect Iroha. Komugi is however left on her own when Iroha acts as a distraction to save a boy and his dog from the Garugaru. Worried about Iroha, Komugi runs over to try to save her owner, when a bright light surrounds her and turns her into a human, as well as granting her the Wonderful Pact. Komugi transforms into Cure Wonderful and engages in battle with the Garugaru. Wonderful chases after the Garugaru, and quickly notices that it's in pain. Wonderful proceeds to hug the Garugaru, which turns it back into its original form. Wonderful de-transforms back to Komugi and excitedly tells Iroha about what just happened. Komugi then does their handshake to prove that she is Iroha's pet dog, and gives Iroha a big hug.WPC01
Argument And Reconciliation With Iroha[]
Due to not being able to use the Friendly Tact like Friendy did, Komugi begins doubting herself.WPC05 She becomes more upset when she realizes her old leash is gone, which leads to her arguing with Iroha. Even worse, due to her being afraid of the lion Garugaru, Wonderful loses her Friendly Tact, and gets herself and Friendy hurt. Feeling worthless, Komugi decides to run away from home.WPC06
After realizing she has nowhere to go, Komugi bursts into tears, so Satoru temporarily takes her in. After Komugi finishes crying, Satoru tells her she should learn to properly communicate how she feels with Iroha. Remembering why she became a Cure in the first place, which was to extend Iroha's love to her for others, Wonderful is able to make up with Friendy and regain her own Friendly Tact, as well as purifying the Kirarin Lion. She then accepts her new leash and harness from Iroha, and their bond strengthens. WPC07
Going To School[]
Komugi eventually becomes eager to go to school with Iroha. WPC08 By the miracle of Niko Garden's Niko Diamond, she is enrolled into Iroha's school without needing to undergo any procedures.
At school, Komugi is excited to have fun and be with Iroha, although she almost reveals her secret due to her strange behavior, and temporarily turning back into a dog when she gets tired. She also unknowingly makes Ikari Shou consider her to be his rival, because of her athleticism. At the end of the day, Komugi enjoys her school life, but also promises Iroha that she will study harder to not fail her tests. WPC09
Revealing Her Secret To Iroha's Parents[]
When going to school, Komugi almost reveals herself to Iroha's mother, although Iroha stops Komugi in time. Later, Komugi expresses wanting to reveal her identity to Iroha's parents. Eventually, Komugi accidentally exposes herself by talking in front of Iroha's parents, and also reveals that she can transform into a human. In the end, Komugi is supported by Iroha's mother and father, and she no longer needs to hide her secret of being able to talk and transform from them.WPC16
Making A Wish During Tanabata[]
One afternoon, Komugi dreams of a glowing Mirror Stone, and hears a sad howl in the distance. She calls out to the source of the howl to come and play with her but gets no response. Komugi is then woken up by Iroha, who tells her about the yearly Star Festival. Upon arriving at the festival, Komugi offers to give her sandals to Iroha but is dragged away by Mayu to give Iroha time with Satoru. After that exchange, Komugi walks up to the Mirror Stone, where she notices it covered in wish slips. Komugi struggles to write her own wish as all of her wishes have come true. After exploring many stalls at the festival, Komugi visits the Animal Shrine with her friends. Komugi comes across Karasuma who talks about a wolf statue at Toboe Shrine, and that several wolves once inhabited the mountain ranges but sadly went extinct due to either disease or being hunted. Komugi expresses how she heard howling coming from the mountains, though her friends write it off as a dream. After looking at the glowing Mirror Stone, Komugi finally realizes what her new wish is, but before she can tell Iroha, they're interrupted by a Garugaru. Wonderful chases after the Garugaru, in hopes of comforting it, but she is pushed away. Friendy comforts her, and after Nyammy and Lillian work together to stop the Garugaru, Wonderful purifies it with Friendy. With the Kirarin Swan rescued, Komugi celebrates with Iroha. While looking at the lake, Komugi admits that her new wish is for everyone to be friends.WPC23
Finding Where She Belongs[]
When an animal volunteer named Yuuki Ayako visits Komugi's home and tells Iroha about Komugi's previous family, Komugi is confused as she can't remember her previous owner. However, at the healthcare facility, Komugi starts to remember how Kurihara used to look after her, despite not wanting to leave Iroha. After the Cures purify the stoat Gaogaon, human Komugi thanks Kurihara for taking care of her.WPC38
Meeting And Comforting Gaou[]
During Halloween, Komugi notices Gaou wandering the streets, so she tries to befriend him. Komugi is initially able to get Gaou to open up to her after he teaches her about wolves' howling, but she faints shortly after. After being taken to the town's river to drink water, Komugi loses Gaou's trust after he realizes she is friends with humans. Komugi is then turned into a Gaogaon by Gaou, but Komugi is able to break free from his influence when she hears Iroha's voice. After purifying Zakuro's Gaogaon, Wonderful tries talking to Gaou, but he teleports away before she can do so.WPC39
Eventually during New Years Eve, Wonderful finds out that Gaou is actually the wolf pack's human friend Subaru, and the real Gaou had died centuries ago. WPC48 However, Wonderful refuses to give up on Subaru, while going as far as to sacrificing herself to protect Friendy. Komugi then meets the real Gaou when she's unconscious, before waking up to meet Friendy again. In the end, Wonderful and the other Cures finally get through to Subaru, who is purified by Eternal Kizuna Shower.WPC49 Gaou then appears in front of Subaru, and Wonderful encourages them to speak their true feelings to each other. Wonderful watches as Subaru and his wolf friends find peace and move on to the afterlife.WPC50
Losing and Regaining Her Speech[]
Niko returns to Niko Garden, taking Komugi's Wonderful Pact, and her ability to transform and speak, with her. However, Komugi's bond with Iroha activates the Mirror Stone, returning her speech.WPC50

Cure Wonderful (キュアワンダフル)? is Komugi's Pretty Cure alias. She transforms using the Wonderful Pact. She has the ability to summon paw-shaped shields.
Transformation[]
- Pretty Cure! My Evolution!: The transformation starts with Komugi catching her Wonderful Pact and showing it off. The pact opens and Komugi winks at her reflection before pressing the pink ribbon-shaped button on the inside, causing the dial to turn pink. Komugi then says the transformation phrase and spins the dial around three times with it glowing in a different color with each spin. She then counts down from three to one, with green sparkles and ribbons appearing in the mirror after three, some of them turning blue after two, and red hearts appearing after one. Komugi is then surrounded by drawings of a gold tiara and five ribbons with hearts in the middle. The tiara drawing flies to the top of her head as her hair lengthens and turns pink and yellow. One of the bows lands on her chest while two of them attach to her feet, forming her boots and stockings. The last two bows attach to her hips, turning into the ones on her skirt while the other on her chest turns purple and white with a heart brooch, followed by the rest of her dress. The tiara then turns into her crown. The Wonderful Pact lands inside the carry bag. Wonderful then introduces herself before striking a final pose and telling the audience that she wants to play together.
