Jun (ジュン)? is a minor character in Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure!. She is one of the students who attends the Magic School.

Bio

Appearance

Jun has sharp turquoise eyes and short, spiked blue hair that sticks up on the sides, and her bangs are slicked back. She wears her school uniform with black thigh-length socks with magenta loafers and rolls up the sleeves.

As an adult, Jun wears a a light cyan shawl donned with a ribbon, a blue vest, a white long-sleeved blouse, a pair of grey shorts, black tights, and dark blue boots.

Personality

Jun is sporty and confident and used to have a poor attendance. She has an interest in fashion and arts, and wants to become a fashion designer in the No Magic World, a dream she achieves in the end.

Relationships

Etymology

Since her name is written in katakana, its meaning is unknown. However, there are several meanings for her name in kanji such as, (純) which translates to "genuine", (淳) "pure" or (順) "obey".

History

Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure!

Jun meets Asahina Mirai for the first time. Isaac-sensei turns a stamped paper into a butterfly and orders the students to catch it as their first lesson. Jun catches on by chasing it on her broom, making her pass the test.MTPC04

The group has to pass another test, boiling a kettle with magic, in a world full of ice and snow. The group passes due to Mirai introducing the Oshikura Manjū game to keep warm.MTPC05

The students have to learn how to conjure a shape out of water, and Jun manages to pass her test along with the other students.MTPC06

The student group goes to the mermaid village together, but are surprised by Gamettsu's attack. Along with Mirai and Liko, Jun is shown the secret place in the village.MTPC07

It is revealed that the reason why she skipped classes was due to her eagerness to travel to the No Magic World, although all her plans ended up failing and exposed.MTPC09

The magic school students visit Mirai and Liko in No Magic World. They are shown around town and visit a shopping mall for the first time, and take Purikura photos together.MTPC16

She accompanies Liko and Kay to the library to find out more about the firework flowers. In the end, all six girls start the fireworks and watch them together.MTPC28

She plays a role in the "Cinderella" story, appearing for the party, along with Kay and Emily.MTPC29

Jun, Kay and Emily ask Mirai, Liko, Kotoha and Mofurun to help them with their school projects. Jun creates a painting of Mirai and Liko and asks them to pose or dress-up, showing her passion for art. She also reveals her dream of being a fashion designer in the No Magic World once she graduates from Magic School.MTPC30

The former supplementary students have a slumber party in their dorm, and Jun pranks Liko with a jack-in-the-box.MTPC41

Jun is among the people supporting the Cures during their final battle against Deusmast.

In the future, Jun starts to live in or visits New York.MTPC50

Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure!! ~MIRAI DAYS~

An older Jun is seen working with François at the Magic Shopping Street, while telling Mirai and Liko that she's been studying in the No Magic World. She then meets Hisui, who she grows fond of. Jun and Gustav then find Mofurun and Hisui at the plaza once the monster attack is over, though both she and Gustav are distracted by Mofurun when Hisui almost reveals Mirai and Liko's Pretty Cure identities.MTPCMD02

Sometime later, Jun gets trapped in a stone statue as Chronosto attacks the Magic World.MTPCMD09 She is later freed, and resumes hanging out with Emily and Kay. She also gets to meet her friends from the No Magic World again.MTPCMD12

Jun's voice actor, Kanada Aki, has participated in an image song for the character she voices.

Trivia

  • Jun uses the personal pronoun atai (あたい)?, a slang version of the feminine atashi (あたし)?. The pronoun is considered very informal, as in the Shōwa period, rebellious girls who hung out with biker gangs used it, and the pronoun has a delinquent vibe now.
    • She also speaks in masculine speech patterns, sometimes ending her sentences in "-daze".
  • Jun is really good with the Magic Broom, and her flying skill is almost perfect.
  • She shares her name with Saotome Jun from Doki Doki! Pretty Cure.
  • Jun shares her voice actor with Nyatoran, one of the mascots from Healin' Good♥Pretty Cure.
