King Liebe

King Liebe (リーベ王)^? is a manga-exlusive minor character who appeared in the Star☆Twinkle Pretty Cure Manga. He is the king of Planet Amour.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Liebe is an alien that resembles an Egyptian pharoh. He has long curly hair, a goatee, mascara eyes and extremely long pointed ears. He wears a pharoh headdress, has neck rings around his neck, and has dotted heart symbols painted on his forehead and hands. He wears a long gown with shoulder pads.

Personality[]

Liebe is big-hearted and believes deeply in love, but he has a rather simple-minded worldview of how love works due to his lack of interpersonal relationships and exposures. He want to spread his planet's love across the universe, although he is usually uncertain about what to do unless he is given the push by someone else to do something. He does care for his subjects, though he will go as far as sacrificing himself just to save them.

Relationships[]

Hagoromo Lala: After visiting Saman as a child, Liebe falls in love with Lala, and decides to marry her upon hearing that she might soon become an adult according to Saman's standards. Lala initially complies to his wish, but still rejects him after realizing marriage isn't what she wants with him. At first, Liebe is heartbroken and decides that it is better for him to sacrifice himself for her and his subjects, but in the end accepts her choice of simply being his friend after she and her friends save his planet from exploding.

Etymology[]

Liebe is the German word for "love" that means "a tender feeling of affection or love for someone".^[1] This matches the name of the planet he is ruling, Amour, which means "love" in French.

History[]

As a child, Liebe visited Saman and fell in love at first sight for Lala, even going as far as asking her to marry him. After Lala politely told him that he would have to wait for a decade for her to grow into an adult by Saman's standards, Liebe didn't know she was only avoiding to hurt his feelings and gave a kiss on her hand as his promise to marry her when they would become older.

A few years later, Liebe sends an invitation to Lala to invite her and her friends to Planet Amour. He introduces his planet's cultures and customs, and even holds a lavish party for them to feast and enjoy themselves. However, he soon kisses Lala's hand and dresses her up in a bridal gown, and soon the girls realize that he invites Lala to marry her, especially after Hikaru encourages him to press forward with his feelings. He also reveals that his beliefs in helping his planet's love transcend the universe with their intercultural marriage.

Although Lala understands Liebe's romantic feelings for her, she doesn't reciprocate them at all despite making herself go along with his wish during the ceremony. But she decides to call off the wedding ceremony in front of Liebe after her friends push her to change her mind. With his heart broken, Liebe's planet begins to get disrupted due to Lala's rejection. Liebe then decides it is best for him to sacrifice himself so he can save the planet and his subjects, until Lala and the other girls tell him there is no need to hurt himself and all his subjects idolize him. Afterwards, Liebe and his people are saved by the Cures' love which restores Planet Amour.

Sometime later, Liebe contacts Lala, telling her that he has begun love reforms among his subjects, and there are now more unique couples on his planet. He intends to do away the preconceived notions and explore the endless possibilities of love, and welcomes Lala and the other girls to visit him anytime.
