Pretty Cure Wiki

Kiryuu Michiru (霧生満?) is a former villain in Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star. She is a denizen of Dark Fall and is always together with her sister Kaoru with whom she guards the infiltrated Fountain of Sky.

In an attempt to infiltrate Pretty Cure, they attend Yuunagi Middle School as exchange students. She and her sister eventually end up befriending both Saki and Mai, and later assist Pretty Cure in taking down the Dark Fall.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Michiru is a teenager with dark crimson eyes and dark velvet hair that is styled as neck length.

She usually wears the Yuunagi Middle School uniform. As a member of Dark Fall, she wears a grey robe with a red jewel necklace and boots.

In Moon form (which resembles Cure Bright), she wears a flowing long-sleeved chartreuse yellow garment with wine-red tights, red ear studs and white boots.

During her time with Dark Fall, her eyes had no light reflection, but after gaining the power of the moon, she has light reflections in her eyes, symbolizing an awake mind and her emotional growth.

As an adult, Michiru wears a black jacket, a fuchsia turtleneck blouse, a brown belt with a yellow buckle, a pair of brown shorts, long light yellow socks, and grey boots. She retains the same hairstyle, although her hair has also grown slightly longer.

As her Light persona as part of Dark Night Light, she is a super deformed green catgirl with the same facial features and clothes she has as an adult.

Personality[]

At first, she seems cold-hearted, but after becoming friends with Saki and Mai, she mellows out and becomes a kinder person.

Like her sister Kaoru, Michiru is curious about the Land of Greenery due to being sheltered from the outside world. She serves as a Dark Fall spy but is conflicted about their purpose after becoming friends with the Cures. Compared to Kaoru, Michiru is more intrigued about the Land of Greenery and asks questions about the way people act.

Relationships[]

  • Kiryuu Kaoru: Michuru and Kaoru have a close knit sisterly bond. Along with her sister, she begged Akudaikan to stop so that she can change her own fate but ended up being seemly destroyed/imprisoned, though fortunately they were later freed. Michuru would normally speak for the two due to Kaoru being either too frank or less interested in talking. Kaoru once admitted to Minori that the way Michuru is able to communicate amazes her.
  • Hyuuga Saki and Mishou Mai: Although Michiru and her sister are initially sent to destroy Saki and Mai by getting close to them, she ends up making friends with them instead. When Goyan used the Fairy Carafe to resurrect the old villains again she comes back with the help of Moop, Foop, and Princess Filia and helps Saki and Mai defeat them again.
  • Hyuuga Minori: Confused by her behavior at first, Michiru began taking a liking to Minori and became close to her. Before going into Dark Fall, Michiru insisted that Saki should stay behind as Minori would be sad if something bad happens to her, only for Saki to remark that she will also be sad if the same should happen to her.
  • Moop and Foop: She once helped save Moop and Foop and seems to like them.

Etymology[]

Kiryuu (霧生?): Kiri (?) means "fog" or "mist". yuu (?) means "pure"

Michiru (?) - means "to complete" or "to mature", this verb is usually for describing the waxing moon, befitting her as the later wielder of the power of the moon.

History[]

Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star[]

Michiru and Kaoru were created by Akudaikan to stop the Fountain of Sky from being resurrected. While there, they sometimes expressed feelings of loneliness, taking comfort in each other. One day, they see Moop and Foop in trouble and save them, though they don't give it much thought afterwards.

Later on, Michiru and Kaoru are forced to fight their friends, Hyuuga Saki and Mishou Mai. Instead of fighting, because of their newly gained friendship with the two, Michiru and Kaoru sacrifice themselves to rescue Saki and Mai from their leader, Akudaikan. As a result of this, all memories of them in the Land of Greenery disappear.

After the Dark Fall manages to steal the Fairy Carafe and resurrect all of the defeated denizens, Michiru and Kaoru are revived and join forces with Saki and Mai against the Dark Fall.

The two sisters decide to confront Akudaikan, while they are followed by the Cures. During the last battle, the Sky Tree grants Moop, Foop, Flappy and Choppy new power, enabling Saki and Mai to become Cure Bloom and Cure Egret while Michiru and Kaoru get the powers of the Moon and Wind respectively, to become Cure Bright and Cure Windy. They defeat Goyan together with Spiral Heart Splash Star. In the end, Michiru and Kaoru get to stay on the Land of Greenery after being revived by the land's spirits.

Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~[]

Years later, Michiru and her sister have started their own video channel, Dark Night Light, with Michiru as her persona, Light. They have become famous internet celebrities, who are well loved by both adults and children. In the first episode, Nozomi's students at Plaisir Academy introduce them to their teacher. They describe their content as "finding beautiful and fun things" that they share with others, such as following a stray cat, or sharing interesting restaurants.

During the epidemic of Shadows, Michiru and Kaoru were actually the ones to come up with the name "Shadow" for the creatures, on their channel, Dark Light Night, which provided real-time tracking and information of the Shadows within the town and its surrounding areas.KnCOPC05

In the sixth episode, Dark Night Light advertises PANPAKA Pan Bakery, which Saki notes has caused business to boom, though she is unaware of who the true identites of those behind the channel are.

Later, when Urara and Syrup come up with a new song in the park, Michiru and Kaoru, though their faces are obscured, overhear them, and offer to play their song on their channel to hundreds of people.KnCOPC07

In the ninth episode, Michiru and Kaoru are finally fully revealed, appearing to save Saki and Mai from the Shadow at the Sky Tree. Bell notes that the two are not human, and the two confirm her claim by telling their backstory with Dark Fall, adding that the reason why they run the Dark Light Night channel is "to help people realize how precious this world is." Bell refuses to understand and turns her attention on the sisters, having the Shadow bind them with its vines. Once the battle is over, Michiru and Kaoru reveal themselves to the Pretty Cure group, shocking everyone including Saki and Mai. They tell everyone that they've been visiting the places where the Shadows have appeared, and determined that at the center of all these appearances is the clock tower, where Bell should be.

In the following episode, when Saki and Mai discuss that defeating Bell will stop all the Shadows from appearing, Michiru and Kaoru express their doubt, noting that the creatures are born from the silhouettes of people, likely those with impure intentions. When Mai asks the two if they believe humans are the cause of the Shadows, they are unsure.

Michiru and her sister later livestream a broadcast to encourage the townspeople to help the Cures. After the final battle, she agrees with Kaoru that there is still hope for humanity, despite some people having negative attitudes in life.KnCOPC12

Power Of The Moon[]

M

Cure Bright (Kiryuu Michiru)

In the last battle, Michiru gained the power of the moon and transformed into Cure Bright as Hyuuga Saki reverted to Cure Bloom. In this form, Michiru performed Spiral Heart Splash Star with Cure Bloom, Cure Egret, and her sister, Kiryuu Kaoru, who had gained the power of wind and became Cure Windy.

Trivia[]

  • Michiru is Cure Bright when she has the powers of the moon, making her and Kaoru the only major characters to have Pretty Cure's power while not beings treated as Cures by the Pretty Cure All Stars franchise.
  • Michiru and Kaoru are the first villains who become heroic characters and live on Earth.
    • While Kiriya was the first villain who was willing to be reformed, he didn't survive through to the end of his series, but was reborn in a new human body with no memories of his past life.
  • Michiru shares her voice actress with Moop, who also has the power of the moon.
