Wings Of Doubt (マヨイノツバサ Mayoi no Tsubasa)? is the 4th episode of Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~.
Summary[]
Hyuuga Saki, who works at her family's bakery, runs into Mishou Mai, who became a graphic designer. They spend a merry evening with Nozomi and the others, who are overjoyed that they have all gotten back together again. However, Saki never gets the chance to find out from Mai what has been bothering her. So, a few days later, Saki gets Mai to help her out with the bakery's bread truck.

Synopsis[]
Bunbee, who now works at a property management company, inspects a rundown apartment complex the company plans on renovating when a woman approaches him. Just then, Bell sends several more dark orbs from the tower to the complex and one of them strikes the woman, turning her silhouette into a Shadow and chasing a frightened Bunbee away.
Later, Mai is on her way to work at the JPK Agency when she receives a text from Saki about how much fun they had last night hanging out with Nozomi and the others, causing her to remember her time as a Pretty Cure with Saki. Last night, the two discussed how they were classmates with Kenta and Yuuko as well as how Mai currently works as a graphic designer while Saki is a baker at the PANPAKA Pan Bakery. Saki also reveals that she is engaged to a young man she attended culinary school with.
Back at work, Mai is in the break room waiting for a meeting to start when her boyfriend texts her about wanting to break up. At the meeting, it is announced that her co-worker Sekine would be taking maternity leave, so everyone would have to take over for her tasks. Sasaki, another one of her co-workers, complains about how all she and Mai ever do is make logos bigger or smaller instead of doing any actual art. She then mentions about how Mai at least has a boyfriend, which reminds her of the text he sent her.
Later, Mai goes to pick up her lunch at Saki's food truck. When asked if her decreased work flow caused her to take a while to purchase the bread, Mai said it was true but something else was up. Meanwhile, Kurumi talks to Nozomi about the increased Shadow sightings and how they need Saki and Mai's help. Kurumi then asks Nozomi about how things with Coco have been going and she says they mainly communicate through letters now.
Mai takes a day off to help out Saki with her food truck. They set it up at the Midorihara Complex, but no customers were arriving, much to Saki's surprise. The two have a look around and stop at a swing set, with Saki breaking it when she tries to get on it. Mai then reveals the problems she had been having with her boyfriend and asks for Saki's advice. Saki suggests that she talk to him, but Mai then says that she even thought about marrying him but couldn't wrap her head around the idea, making her feel abnormal compared to other women her age. Saki then tells Mai to just focus on herself.
Just then, Saki notices an old man acting strange. All of a sudden, a dark aura surrounds him and a Shadow appears, with several others popping out of different places. Not knowing what the Shadows are, Saki and Mai try to escape and end up hiding behind a bush. However, their hiding spot is given away when Kurumi calls Saki, causing her phone to go off. Saki then tells Kurumi about them being attacked when Mai trips and falls. Before the Shadows could close in, Bunbee calls out to them from behind one of the buildings. The three of them hide but the Shadows still quickly find them. They surround Saki and Mai while piling on top of Bunbee. The two try to climb up a building, but the Shadows still follow them and trap them on top. Just as Saki and Mai were about to be attacked, Syrup flies in and rescues them. Bunbee soon joins them, having transformed into his bee form to fight off the Shadows, shocking Nozomi and Kurumi.
Back at Café & Bar Time, Saki and Mai learn more about how the other Cures knew Bunbee as well as his current occupation. Just then, a news report shows how there have been many unconscious people at the Midorihara Complex, but they assume that it was because of a gas leak caused by a deteriorated pipe. After Komachi receives a phone call from Karen about the patients' conditions, Nozomi explains to a confused Saki and Mai about how only the Pretty Cures can defeat the Shadows. It is then that Saki and Mai become determined to help the other girls, much to everyone's delight, and they all make a toast.
Back at her apartment, Mai is rereading the text her boyfriend sent and decides to call him, breaking up with him. At the Cure Rose Garden, Syrup delivers Kurumi's letter to Coco, who immediately starts reading it.
