My Town (ワタシノマチ Watashi no Machi)? is the 8th episode of Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~.

Summary[]

Realizing that the Shadows have only appeared in her town and the surrounding area, Komachi hypothesizes that this isn't the first time that these Shadow incidents have occurred. She goes with Nozomi and Coco to speak with someone well-versed in the town's history.

Major Events[]

  • Komachi transforms into Cure Mint again.

Synopsis[]

Komachi tends the town's garden when a girl named Yumi approaches and asks if she could feed the killifish in the pond and Komachi allows her to. Then, a woman named Yamaguchi arrives complimenting Komachi's work and giving her a copy of the town's newspaper that Komachi wrote an essay for. Yamaguchi also tells Yumi that Komachi wrote a novel that won an award, with Yumi hoping she can read it someday. After Yamaguchi leaves to talk to her friend Shimizu, Komachi thinks about being called a "pro", believing that she isn't because of her current bout of writer's block.

Later, Komachi is making a delivery to Mochida when she spots an ambulance near the dry cleaner's. Yamaguchi then appears to tell her that Mochida was swallowed up by a dark silhouette, meaning he was attacked by the Shadows. While Yamaguchi assumes it was just stress, Komachi returns to her apartment to research the Shadow attacks more, wondering why they are only targeting their town. Then, Nozomi calls Komachi to talk to her about what happened to Mochida and Komachi gets an idea.

Nozomi and Komachi, along with Kouji, meet at Café Tobari where Komachi explains that the Shadow incidents might not be an entirely new thing, according to her research. However, despite all of that, she couldn't find anything that connected the town's history to the Shadows. Nozomi wishes that Soseke Natsume, who wrote an article in one of the books Komachi brought, would have shown up in their Japanese class, which gives Komachi an idea to find and talk to someone who has lived through the previous incidents. Then, Yamaguchi appears again to suggest they should visit Sanae and says she will contact her later, and Komachi thanks her.

The next day, the three of them arrive at Sanae's house. After eating sweets that Komachi brought and drinking tea, they began to discuss the Shadow incidents. Sanae is aware of how people have suddenly become unconscious, and Komachi asks Sanae if there is anything more that she knows about them. Sanae explains that during WWII, the town was destroyed by bombs, but the clock tower managed to withstand the damage. The ringing of its bell strengthened the survivors' resolve as they rescued people trapped under the rubble and eventually planted the flowers, which Sanae also helped with, that grew in the garden Komachi tends to, striving to create a future where everyone can live happy. Sanae also adds that there is a picture of an angel on the clock's bell named Bell, making it like a guardian deity of sorts, which surprises them.

After thanking Sanae and leaving, they head to the clock tower, wondering why Bell is attacking the city she is supposed to protect. When Nozomi and Komachi investigate the bell, they notice the angel looked similar to Bell, but she has a different aura compared to that one. Eventually, neither of them could find anything out of the ordinary, but Komachi still won't allow Bell to get away with manipulating people. Just then, the bell glows red and more Shadows appear. Nozomi transforms into Cure Dream to fight them. Komachi witnesses one of the Shadows ripping out some of the flowers, which angers her. Her desire to protect the town everyone worked so hard to build causes a green butterfly to appear and another Time Flower to bloom. Komachi touches the butterfly and her CureMo appears again, allowing her to transform into Cure Mint.

Mint arrives and blasts through many of the Shadows with Dream helping to destroy more of them. Just as they are about to finish the Shadows off, more of them appear, this time shooting projectiles. One of them hits Dream while the others damage cars and buildings. Angered by the Shadows' destruction on this town, Mint uses Emerald Saucer to defeat the rest of them.

After the battle, Komachi says that she realized that she is also part of this town when she thought about wanting to protect it and she is like a character in the town's story. She also says she wants to write about all the people who live there one day. Nozomi then declares that she will be the first person to read that story. Suddenly, Nozomi's Time Flower starts to flicker, causing her to briefly lose consciousness. After Kouji catches her, Nozomi just assumes that she got carried away, but Kouji believes it is something more serious.
