Etymology

• The name is a pun of the Japanese adjective "kowai na" (怖いな, "kowai na")^?, which means "frightening".

Trivia

• Unlike previous monsters, Kowaina is capable of growing its own limbs when possessing objects, instead of only taking advantage of the possessed item.
• Kowaina is never called by name in the anime, unlike other monsters.
• Kowaina is the first monster in the Pretty Cure franchise to be voiced by a woman.
