Biography[]
Appearance[]
Meroron is a fairy with light pinkish-lavender fur and peach blush. She has a round, fuzzy light magenta tail to accent her neck fur. On her torso is a light fuchsia double eighth note. Meroron has large, wide dark purple eyes with pink star-shaped flecks at the bottom and light purple markings at the upper sides resembling the upper halves of a heart. Her hair is styled in two pigtails that are a swirl of dark gray and light pink that curl outward, and her swirly bangs are split in the middle. Each pigtail is adorned with a fuchsia scalloped Kirarun Ribbon with black trimming and a gold star-shaped gem on top. Her bows turned gray temporarily when she confessed her wish because of the Heart Kirari Lock, but were restored after she was freed from the lock.
As Meron, Meroron is a human teenage girl. She has long, straight, curly black hair with two thick, short braided sidelocks in the front held together by her usual ribbons, the rest flowing freely. Her bangs are neat and split in the middle. Her eyes are more slit and retain their original colors and flecks. She wears a pink translucent long-sleeve blouse that has a hot pink ribbon around her swan-neck collar, a split front, and ruffly sleeves. Underneath, she wears a black strapless sweetheart dress that reaches halfway down her shins. Her footwear is a pair of very dark navy ankle strapped pumps with pink triangle ornaments on top.
As Cure Kiss, her hair lengthens and turns pink with two sections of pink and black twintail-like twists resembling her fairy form hairstyle. She retains her bows in the middle of them and her flared out bangs have a purple ombre. She gains curly forelocks somewhat resembling a triangle. On the right side of her hair is a black plaid pink-striped bow with a smaller darker wing-shaped one in front of it accented with a magenta double eighth note. She wears black triangular earrings with two white pearls behind them. Her halter dress has a upward light violet insert with black trim and a thick pale lilac band across the top of the bodice decorated with a black upside-down triangle lined in gold, a black stiff collar with bottom gold trim, a pale lilac collarbone area, and black plaid pink-striped inserts on the sides. The top also has pale violet ruffled sleeves with black lining. Her black plaid pink-striped skirt is pleated with a white petticoat underneath and a jagged pale violet layer on top. A long, pale lilac, open skirt is worn over the waist and is lined in pale violet with an outward scalloped black section at the bottom, magenta double eighth notes on the front of each side, and two black triangles dangling from it with white upper beads, while the scalloped inside of it is violet with indigo at the bottom. The trim is pale violet with additional black scallops. Above the skirt is a big pale violet peplum with black lining around the middle and at the bottom. Underneath that is a black sheer ruffle with a slight scallop. On the back is a big pale violet ribbon, the tails lined in pale violet, and on the left side of her waist is a large black bow with a smaller scalloped violet one worn over it. It's accented with the Heart Kirari Lock which is light purple with a magenta insert, has gold trim, ribbons, and handle, and is heart-shaped. The waistband is downward and violet. She also wears short black gloves decorated with small light violet ribbons and magenta chevron-shaped wristbands. Her boots are long and black with pink toe-tips and a matching triangle on top and dark garter-like decorations on top with triangular patterns.
Personality[]
Meroron is strong-willed and cheeky, but she is actually lonely. She deeply cares about Purirun, and has a habit of reciting poetic phrases about her. Her love for Purirun is so strong that she can get jealous and one-sidedly sees the Idol Pretty Cure as rivals. However, she has a soft side, as shown when she spoke to a little girl who was lost as well.
Meroron has an interest in cooking and will go above and beyond when she makes meals for Purirun. She is very persistent and possessive, and she will stop at nothing to make Purirun notice her. She dislikes those who try to spend time with Purirun so she'll have more time with her. She views others trying to spend time with Purirun as "stealing", especially in regards to Uta. She also dislikes being considered as "friends" with those she isn't close to. This gives her emotional distress and she believes she can only rely on Purirun, thus contributing to her possessive attitude and how she isolates herself from the girls. This is especially when Purirun lost her memories, where Meroron often took her away. She is also precocious. However, over time, she regrets her past actions and grows into wanting to befriend the girls, especially when Nana gave her support and that she can depend on others.
Due to being born as "the one who knows darkness", Meroron was initially unable to make any friends due to knowing the feeling of loss and darkness. However, in the end, she's able to befriend the Idol Pretty Cure after learning to be honest with her own wish.
As Cure Kiss, she is more mature and formal, but she still cares about Purirun. She is also more task-oriented, but she is still eloquent and poetic regarding Purirun. She gains more courage to fight with others and not just Zukyoon after being moved by Wink's advice. Meroron is more familiar with things from Earth, so she often helps Purirun recognize things around the environment.
Relationships[]
- Purirun: Meroron's friend. Meroron has strong affection for Purirun, which motivates her to set out to Earth to find her. Meroron refers to Purirun as "sissy" (ねえたま)?. Meroron will do anything for Purirun, even going as far as using the Heart Kirari Lock to forget her wish of making friends so Purirun's wish to protect Uta can come true. As Cure Kiss, she refers to Zukyoon as "sister" (お姉様)? instead and still remains close with Zukyoon.
- Sakura Uta: At first, Meroron was very jealous of Uta for being friends with Purirun. She used to refer to her as a "sissy-thief". However, she comes to understand how important Uta is to Purirun, despite still feeling envious towards Uta. She eventually becomes Uta's friend and comes to respect her, calling her "the sun of Idol Pretty Cure".
- Aokaze Nana: Originally, Meroron was wary with Nana. She even disapproves of her trying to understand Zakkuri, believing that light and darkness do not mix. However, she was shocked when Wink has proven the contrary. Eventually, Meroron was able to accept the fact that she wanted to be friends with the Idol Pretty Cure trio and transform on her own after Nana's encouragement and influence.
- Shigure Kokoro: Just like with Nana, Meroron was wary of Kokoro. She even once got into a heated debate with her on whether Cure Idol and Wink or Cure Zukyoon is the better idol. However, after spending time with Kokoro, she begins to trust her and befriends her, Uta, and Nana.
Etymology[]
Meroron is based on the word from the drink known as "Melon Soda" (メロンソーダ)? as revealed from Murase Aki in the January 2026 Animage issue. It is also based on the Japanese expression "mero mero", which means "being madly in love with someone"[1].
Tanaka (田中)?: Ta (田)? means "rice field"[2], while Naka (中)? means "middle."[3]
Cure Kiss is an act of touching your lips as a way of greeting and expressing affection.[4]

Transforming Into Cure Kiss[]
With the Idol Pretty Cure struggling to defeat Cuttinda, Meroron goes to KirakiLand with Purirun. After Pikarine tells them about the Kirarun Ribbons being fragments of the Big Kirakira Ribbon, Meroron stays behind to tell Pikarine about the Heart Kirari Lock. There, Meroron learns about how dangerous the Heart Kirari Lock is, and that it locks away what the user most values in exchange for their wish. Meroron arrives at the Big Kirakira Ribbon and explains to Purirun that they need more Kirarun Ribbons to restore it. After witnessing how upset Purirun is, Meroron admits she can make Purirun's wish come true via the Heart Kirari Lock. Meroron tells Purirun the truth about the Heart Kirari Lock and puts on a brave face as she realizes she'll be forgetting her own wish of making friends in order to make Purirun's wish come true.
After the key is turned inside the lock, Meroron transforms into Cure Kiss, and arrives just in time to stop Cuttinda from hurting the Idol Pretty Cure. Kiss blows a kiss to summon a black-winged heart that flies into the PreToy Camera to re-start the livestream. She and Cure Zukyoon then purify Cuttinda with Awakening Harmony and Zukyoon Kiss Destiny and leave shortly after the battle ends.KIPC17

Upon watching Uta restoring Purirun's memories, Meroron gets jealous, and declares her rivalry with the Idol Pretty Cure, much to the girls' shock.KIPC21 Meroron later declares a cooking battle with the Idol Pretty Cure and is disappointed when Purirun favors both her and the Idol Pretty Cure equally. After the Pretty Holic campaign, Meroron opens up a little to Uta and the others, but she still prefers Purirun.KIPC22
Wanting To Befriend The Idol Pretty Cure[]
During a talk show appearance at Pretty Holic, Kiss becomes upset about being lumped in as friends with the other Cures. Back at Uta's house, the girls try to get Meroron to become friends with them, but she says she only has Purirun before tearfully leaving. She arrives at the library and regrets her previous actions, but still insists she shouldn't befriend the others. Meroron then begins looking for a book called The Bond Ribbon when Nana arrives to help her out. When Meroron struggles to take in the book, Nana tells her a story about how she gained the courage to talk to her classmates in piano class after meeting Uta and how Meroron can always count on her and the others.
When a Kurayaminda attacks, Meroron is inspired by Nana's courage and transforms into Kiss on her own. Soon after, the other Cures join them and Zukyoon reassures Kiss that she'll always love her. After ZukyoonKiss purifies the Kurayaminda, Meroron musters up the courage to befriend the Idol Pretty Cure when the Heart Kirari Lock suddenly appears. It releases dark tendrils to pull Meroron in and turn her ribbons gray. Purirun tries in vain to rescue her as she becomes sealed inside a capsule of pitch-black darkness.KIPC29
Accepting Friendship[]
After being trapped in the capsule of darkness, Meroron cries alone about wanting to befriend the Idol Pretty Cure. She briefly hears Uta's song, only for the song to be interrupted when Jogi appears. Darkine then appears before Meroron, telling her how much they are alike, and Meroron's past self appears in front of her to drown her in more darkness. However, with her KirakiLight in hand and hearing the Cures' encouragement, Meroron declares about being honest with her wish to make friends, freeing herself from the capsule. After the group purify the Darkranda with the Kirakkiran Ribbon Baton, Kiss officially joins the Idol Pretty Cure with Zukyoon, and decides that she and Purirun will move back to Uta's house.KIPC30
Learning The Meaning Of Her Birth[]
After the Cures restore KirakiLand, Kiss initially avoids playing with Purirun and the other fairies, but soon turns back into Meroron after learning how amazed the fairies are that she's a Cure. When speaking to Pikarine later on, Meroron apologizes for using the Heart Kirari Lock despite her warning, but the queen thanks the fairies for using it to help the Idol Pretty Cure in their mission. Meroron then gets dizzy when Darkine returns from KurakuLand to snip the Big Kirarin Ribbon again, but Pikarine manages to erect TSUBOMI to protect it. Meroron remembers Darkine telling her how she's born from darkness, but Pikarine reveals to Meroron that she's actually a savior who was born to stop the darkness's spread. This helps Meroron understand why she's here in the first place.
When Darkine turns Ruka into a Darkranda, the Cures quickly return to Hanamichi Town to stop it. Kiss is angry that Darkine would take advantage of someone who's afraid by swallowing her in darkness and subdues the Darkranda with Kiss Shock. She vows to rescue Ruka and bring the Kirakira back to her and joins the rest of the Cures to purify it. After Ruka wakes up, she remembers being attacked by Darkine and becomes anxious again, but Kiss comforts her and reminds her the Idol Pretty Cure will be there for her. The other Cures meet up with Kiss and she says she's glad she became a Cure and wants to protect her future with everyone in KirakiLand. After learning how KirariLand receives Kirakira from the town's Heart Tree, Meroron promises to use their powers to make the people feel Kirakira and send it to the ribbon from there, and the other Cures are also eager to help.KIPC44
