Milk (ミルク?) is a white-and-pink rabbit-like fairy in Yes! Pretty Cure 5 and GoGo!. She ends her sentences with "~miru". Unlike Coco and Nuts she was unable to transform into a human. She takes her role as their caretaker seriously, along with most other things. However, Milk learns to have faith in Pretty Cure, and has a strong urge to help them whenever they are struggling.

In Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!, she obtains the ability to turn into a human and the power of the Blue Rose after picking up a glowing blue seed and growing it. Her human alias is Mimino Kurumi (美々野くるみ?) and later attends as a second-year transfer student and is in the same class as Nozomi and Rin.

Her alter ego is Milky Rose (ミルキィローズ?). Despite showing herself as Kurumi at first, it is evident that her personality has not changed, as stated by Nuts.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Milk is a pale pink lop-ear rabbit with slightly darker pink hair and ear tips. Her eyes are mauve and she wears red ribbons on her head and neck, the neck one being held by a gold medallion.

As Kurumi, Milk's eyes are slightly lighter and she gains shoulder length, wavy purple hair with the bangs entirely pulled back and held with a rose ribbon. Normally, she wears a pale pink and white dress with a large blue rose and green leaves painted in the lower left corner. She also wears violet leggings and shiny red slip-on shoes. For summer, she switches to a lavender blouse with white detail, skirt with rose design, and a pair of pink flats.

In Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!: Okashi no Kuni no Happy Birthday!, she wears a violet long-sleeved blouse with a pale pink buttoned vest and skirt, the ruffled petticoat is also violet. On the neck is a blue rose with green ribbon, and she wears mauve boots.

As an adult, she wears a violet dress suit, a light gray blouse, gray tights, and white high heels. Her head accessory is now a thin red hairclip instead of a ribbon. She also has applied light red lip gloss for her lips. She sometimes lapels a long, golden handle staff onto her suit.

Her casual outfit as an adult consists of a midnight blue long-sleeved dress with whit collars, a brown belt, and brown boots.

As Milky Rose, her eyes and hair brighten in color, and it now reaches her waist with a portion held up in a pair of tails. She wears a vine-like headdress decorated with a blue rose and petal-like ribbon, and gold pearls to accent her droplet earrings. She wears a white outfit composed of a corset that has purple detail and layered, scalloped sleeves, and ruffled skirt with a ruffled purple trim around the waist. Her gloves are colored to match and have a blue rose on the hand to match that on the chest, resting over a pale blue leaf-like bow. She also gains dark purple shorts and a pair of lilac and purple boots with ruffled top and ribbon on the back.

As Rainbow Milky Rose, her hair brightens while her skirt grow longer and her sleeves are frillier. She also has small gold wings.

Personality[]

Milk is a strict, no-nonsense type of person when it comes to Coco and Nuts. She tries her best to watch over them so they don't make any foolish decisions, and if she's unable to be with them then she starts to feel useless and worries a lot. She is unable to tolerate anyone who shows rudeness to either of the two, and initially would only show coldness towards anyone who was not them. She was also selfish and greedy, but as she begins to trust the Cures and befriend them, she acts less disrespectfully, and learns to be kinder to others.

However, Milk is also a lot like Nozomi. She can be childish most of the time and only causes problems for others, even if it isn't her intention. As a human, she displays a much more mature side though and appears to be very selfless. But at times she could be swept up in what the girls are doing at the time.

Relationships[]

  • Coco: Milk has deep respect toward her fellow fairy and prince, always using the respectful suffix "-sama" (?) when saying his name. She was also shown to initially have feelings for Coco. However, she would later give up her crush on Coco to support his relationship with Nozomi.
  • Yumehara Nozomi: Milk criticizes Nozomi often because she does not think Nozomi is capable to be a leader or a good caretaker. She often got jealous when Nozomi got Coco's attention, and she often caused her anger by bickering over food, mainly chocolate. Despite their attitudes against each other they share a lot in common and over time struck up a true friendship.
  • Minazuki Karen: Karen has a loving and protective relationship with Milk. Milk admires Karen for her mature and graceful nature and looks up to her. Their relationship resembles that of Nozomi and Coco, Komachi and Nuts, and Urara and Syrup. They became close after Karen sacrificed herself for Milk in a battle.YPC534
  • Nuts: Similar to how she treats Coco, Milk has strong respect for Nuts. Unlike towards Coco, however, she does not harbor any romantic feelings for him, and their relationship is instead built on mutual friendship and respect.
  • Papaya: Her boss. Milk often gets scolded by Papaya, who is strict towards her whenever she is being troublesome.
  • Bunbee: Due to him having previously captured her, Milk has the most animosity towards him out of the Yes ! 5 girls, despite Bunbee having redeemed himself.

Etymology[]

Milk (ミルク?): A type of teatime beverage, much like Coco(a), Nuts and Syrup. Also, when combined with coconut(s), makes "coconut milk".

Mimino Kurumi (美々野 くるみ?) : This entire name is a pun. When written backwards, it spells out miruku no mimi (ミルク の 耳?), which translates to "Milk's ears". Her surname is written out using common kanji to make it more convincing. Mi (?) translates to "beauty", mi (?) has no specific pronunciation and is only used to indicate that the syllable that came before it is repeated, and no (?) means "plain" or "field". Kurumi (くるみ?) is a common Japanese girl's name and can mean "walnut".

Milky Rose: A name that is also inspired from Milk's name, as well as the second season's second theme, the rose, particularly the blue rose, which is the reason Milk can transform at all.

History[]

Yes! Pretty Cure 5[]

Milk is first seen walking trough the alley dragging a small wheeled suitcase while Nozomi runs past on her way to catch the bus to school. Milk comments to herself that she has found another sucker, wanders out into Nozomi's path, and pretends to be a stuffed animal which Nozomi picks up. Nozomi comments that she thinks Milk is a cute toy, and briefly looks around to see who might of dropped it, but then puts Milk in her bag while trying to catch the bus. Milk, who is stored inside Nozomi's bag, proceeds eating Nozomi's lunch afterwards, which makes Nozomi mad when Milk is finally discovered at Nuts' store later on. Milk then arrogantly introduces herself, and reveals that Coco and Nuts are princes, which surprises the girls somewhat. Even though Milk is told that the girls are Pretty Cure, she doesn't think that they are taking good care of the princes, and continues belittling them.YPC521

At first, Milk's obnoxious and snobby attitude turns the girls off from interacting with her, and often only causes more troubles for them than she intends to, such as failing to help the girls with helping at Natts House and then being caught by ArachneaYPC522, and arguing with the girls that leads to breaking a large bead butterfly the team spent hours making. YPC523 She even insults Nozomi as being unworthy to be a Cure, which is enough to crush Nozomi's spirit and thus giving the other Cures trouble to fight against Arachnea for a while. YPC530 However, Milk does gradually warm up to the girls, mainly Karen who looks after her when she gets a fever. YPC534 While originally annoyed by the girls trying to read her rewrite version of Cinderella, Milk also starts trusting the Cures more after they rescue her from Bunbee.YPC538

Sometime later, Milk starts having doubts about her role as a caretaker, but regains her confidence in her position after being encouraged by Nozomi. YPC544

During the New Year holiday, Kawarino, who disguises himself as Coco, suddenly appears in front of Milk and the others. Milk, unaware of Kawarino's disguise, believes he is Coco, and gives him the Dream Collet, which leads to Kawarino stealing the Dream Collet away.YPC546 Milk then blames herself for her carelessness on not being able to be cautious like the others, despite them trying to comfort her. Kawarino then forces a mask of Nightmare's onto Milk, telling her to give up resisting, which brainwashes her under Nightmare's influence.YPC547 However, the five Cures' efforts of reaching out to Milk by reminding of how she has changed them finally touches her heart, and helps her break free from the mask's control. YPC548

She returns to Palmier Kingdom by the end of Yes! 5 after the Cures save everyone from Palmier Kingdom and defeat Nightmare.YPC549

Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo![]

After the battle against the Nightmare, Milk resumes her duties as a caretaker to the new kings of the Palmier Kingdom. But when the kingdom got attacked by Eternal, both Coco and Nuts were again needed to the human world to support the Cures, leaving her behind. In the events of episode 7, she picked up a glowing blue seed which believed to be the Blue Rose of Miracles and grew it, giving her powers of the Blue Rose and the ability to turn into a human, as well as a Pretty Cure.

After earning her human form, Milk adopts the human name Mimino Kurumi, and acts mysterious around the girls, who are unsure whether she is their ally or enemy.YPC5GG10YPC5GG11 The girls are also suspicious with how Milk hasn't been sending letters to them from Palmier Kingdom. However, after Milk finally reveals that she is both Kurumi and Milky Rose, Nuts, Mint, Aqua, and Rogue already knew Kurumi is Milk all along, having recognized Kurumi and Milk sharing the same attitude.YPC5GG14 Milky Rose later gains her new attack Milky Rose Metal Blizzard, after Nuts obtains the Palmier Crown's powers to assist her.YPC5GG31

When the five other Cures are turned into stone and imprisoned by Anacondy, Milky Rose, along with Syrup, manages to find them in Eternal's display room. She and Syrup then reunite with the five Cures after they are freed from their petrified state. YPC5GG47

By the end of GoGo!, Milk is not only a full-fledged caretaker in Palmier Kingdom, she has also become a tour guide at Cure Rose Garden.YPC5GG48

Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~[]

When Kurumi and her friends congratulate Nozomi for becoming Cure Dream again, she notices that Karen is worried. Kurumi later invites Karen to have dinner with her, and gets drunk from drinking too many apple wines, so she stays at Karen's home for the night. There, after reverting back into her fairy form, she tells Karen that she likes apple wines because they remind her of when Karen fed her apples when she was sick. The following night, Kurumi realizes something is wrong, and rushes to the hospital to help Cure Aqua. She transforms into Milky Rose, and helps Aqua purify the Shadows. KnCOPC03

Kurumi later reminds Nozomi that she shouldn't forget to tell Saki and Mai about the increased sightings of the Shadows, and she and Nozomi both agree that they should include Saki and Mai as assistance while devising a plan. She also lightheartedly teases Nozomi's relationship with Coco. When Kurumi learns that Saki and Mai are endangered by some of the Shadows, she becomes very worried for them, but is relieved after she and Nozomi arrive with Syrup to save them. She and her friends also get to hang out with Bunbee again for the first time in many years, and is happy to have Saki and Mai agreeing to help them.KnCOPC04

Kurumi is talking about Dark Night Light with Komachi when Nuts appears before them. After Nozomi arrives, Kurumi eats red bean mochi with the others when Nuts senses an evil presence. Kurumi chases after a Shadow with Nuts and Komachi, when they realize Nozomi isn't with them anymore. Due to the Shadows surrounding them, Kurumi transforms into Milky Rose to protect them, and is confused when they suddenly disappear moments later. Kurumi later finds Nozomi crying into Coco's chest.KnCOPC05

Kurumi later goes to check out an apartment with Bunbee to help Coco find a place to live on Earth. At first, she outs Bunbee for trying to increase his sales, only to change her mind on signing the rental contract the moment she finds out Nozomi lives at the apartment. She also calls Coco out on being indecisive with his feelings for Nozomi. She is happy that Urara has released a new song, although she is also frustrated with how some people write hateful comments about Urara's song.KnCOPC07

At first, Kurumi obliges to Nuts' warnings about the Time Flowers' consequences. However, she later tells Nuts she has to transform in order to protect the town, since she has found her sense of belonging on Earth, despite the hardships she has faced during her career. This earns Nuts' respect for her, and she is allowed to transform into Milky Rose one last time to fight against Bell.KnCOPC10

In the end, Kurumi decides to quit her secretary job to return as Palmier Kingdom's prime minster. She also walks in on Coco and Nozomi's affectionate moment at the hospital. She is last seen helping Donuts Kingdom with the rest of the Palmier Kingdom citizens.KnCOPC12

Milky Rose[]

"The blue rose is my secret emblem! Milky Rose!"

MilkyR

Milky Rose (ミルキィローズ?) is an ally of the Yes 5 team who appeared in the episode 10 of Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!. She has long, violet, curly hair, fuchsia eyes and wears violet with blue rose decorations. She is significantly stronger than the other Cures, being able to defeat her foe with ease. However, she has to be careful using these powers, or else she could de-transform back to her mascot form.

In order to transform into Milky Rose, Milk must be in her human form Kurumi and have her Milky Palette at hand. To transform she calls out "Skyrose Translate!". The first time she aided the Yes 5 Cures, Milky Rose did not reveal who she really was and ran off, making all the girls wondering if she was really on their side. Her powers are related to winds and blizzards.

Milky Rose's signature attack is Milky Rose Blizzard. When Nuts was granted his Palmier crown, Milky Rose could use the Milky Note and the Milky Mirror to perform Metal Blizzard. In the final episode, she can use Floral Explosion together with the other 5 Cures.

In episode 38, she and Cure Dream makes a extremely strong attack to destroy two powerful enemies at once. Though unnamed, this attack was very similar to the "Marble Screw" - Cure Black and Cure White spell performed throughout the Futari wa Pretty Cure series.

Rainbow Milky Rose[]

Rainbow Milky Rose (レインボーミルキィローズ Reinbō Miruki Rōzu?) is an upgrade Milky Rose gains in Pretty Cure All Stars DX 2: Kibou no Hikari - Rainbow Jewel o Mamore!. Together with the others' upgrades, the group of seventeen girls form the group Cure Rainbow.

Transformation[]

Skyrose Translate! - Is the transformation phrase used by Kurumi to transform into Milky Rose.

A large rose first blooms and turns into the Milky Palette, which Kurumi grabs with her left hand. Using the Palette Pen, she taps on the leftmost white screen, then the three buttons on the Palette's bottom row in sequence. This causes the rightmost white screen to shine. Kurumi then crosses her arms and shouts, "Skyrose Translate!", causing her body to shine with light and blue roses to bloom at her feet. All the blue roses explode in a storm of petals, and Kurumi is seen in their mist, her body shining in purple light. She crosses her arms in front of her chest, and petals surround them to form her arm protectors. She spins around as the petals come to form her skirt, then her shoes. Last, the petals form her top, and the two ribbons in her hair explode in petals, which then forms her rose tiara as her hair lengthens. Finally, Milky Rose opens her eyes and recites her introductory speech.

Attacks[]

Milky Rose Blizzard

Milky Rose Blizzard: Milky Rose puts together the pen on the Milky Palette and presses on all the buttons to activate the powers. After saying the incantation, she points at the enemy with the device and a giant blue rose appears before her, pointing the same way. After swinging the Milky Palette, the gesture makes the rose separate into numerous petals attacking the enemy. The latter is then surrounded by the petals, which together forms an even greater blue rose afterward. The blue rose then explodes.

Metal Blizzard: Nuts calls the power for Milky Rose, the Milky Note appears, pressing together the buttons resembling a red and blue rose each. The Milky Note then sends out a blue rose to Milky Rose's Milky Palette. When the rose touches the Milky Palette, they fuse together and become the Milky Mirror. Milky Rose then repeats the same way she uses Blizzard, except the Blue Rose now has a more metallic appearance, being gray and reflecting.

In episode 38, she and Cure Dream make an extremely strong attack to destroy two powerful enemies at once. Though unnamed, this attack was very similar to "Marble Screw", an attack Cure Black and Cure White performed throughout the Futari wa Pretty Cure series.
