Minoton (ミノトン)? is a former general from the Undergu Empire, and a former villain from Hirogaru Sky! Pretty Cure.
Bio[]
Appearance[]
Minoton is a muscular anthropomorphic bull with dark orange skin that has red markings on his face and a black gemstone embedded on his forehead. He has orange eyes and giant brown horns on his head. He wears a dark blue montsuki with one sleeve left hanging, which has red linings, a lightning bolt on his left sleeve, and wave-like patterns. Around his waist, he has a dark brown sash and beneath his montsuki, he wears a black bandage. In addition, he sports dark gray shoulder spikes, dark gray spiked gauntlets, black fingerless gloves, and black boots.
As a Ranborg, Minoton increases in size and his skin darkens, while his horns become more enlarged and curved. His montsuki no longer covers his upper body, and his eyes turn yellow instead of orange. With the more Undergu Energy he consumes, his teeth also protrude outwards.
Personality[]
Minoton is a hot-blooded individual who values fair competition. He places great importance on physical and mental training and is known for his honorable and civil character. While he is obsessed with winning and achieving results, he also has a rational and level-headed side, which leads him to dismiss efforts that fail to produce the desired outcomes.
Being a fair-minded individual, Minoton is deeply dedicated to being a warrior. This is evident through his actions when he saves Ellee-chan from the Ranborg and his gratitude towards the Cures for rescuing him. Due to his warrior mindset, he believes that anything that doesn't contribute to his training or lead to victory is simply a waste of time. He isn't afraid to defend this belief.
Relationships[]
- Kabaton: Minoton knows Kabaton, but he finds Kabaton disgraceful and vulgar, and hates to be associated with him. However, he is currently able to put his differences with Kabaton aside, and cooperate as Kabaton's ally.
- Battamonda: Minoton dislikes Battamonda's cowardice, and won't hesitate to call Battamonda out.
- Empress Undergu: His boss. Despite formerly mistreated by the Empress, Minoton remains loyal to her, and forgives her.
- Sora Harewataru, Nijigaoka Mashiro, Yuunagi Tsubasa and Hijiri Ageha: Despite being the four Cures' enemy, Minoton respects them as worthy opponents, and always looks forward to challenging them. Although he tries to destroy them when he is brainwashed by Skearhead, Minoton is grateful after the four Cures save him.
- Ellee-chan: Although Minoton is ordered to capture Ellee-chan, he believes hurting a baby like Ellee-chan is dishonorable, and would even command his Ranborg to not attack her.
- Skearhead: Despite Skearhead being his senior, Minoton dislikes him, as Skearhead temporarily forces him to become his servant until the Cures free him from Skearhead's control.
Etymology[]
The name Minoton is derived from Minotaur, also known as Asterion, a creature from Greek mythology that had the body of a man and the head and tail of a bull.[1]
History[]
Minoton confronts the Cures for the first time at Sorashido Nature Park. He is offended when the Cures compare him with Kabaton. He turns the zoo's mascot, the Sorashidosaurus into a Ranborg and challenges the Cures to a fight. However, during the fight, he stops his Ranborg from hurting Ellee-chan and a frightened rabbit, as he thinks attacking harmless babies is dishonorable. After his Ranborg is purified, Minoton is impressed by the Cures, and looks forward to challenging them again.HSPC25
Minoton later disguises himself and uses the airport's lost children center to lure the Cures out. When confronting the Cures, he tells them he did so because he thought they were fleeing Sorashido City via planes like cowards. He creates a Ranborg from a fan he brought and uses it to cause turbulence, which prevents the planes from flying, but his Ranborg is soon defeated by Wing who manages to read the wind.HSPC26
Upon seeing the Saotome Sisters' fashion show, Minoton thinks they are wasting their time by having fun, so he summons a Ranborg to attack them and Kako. The Cures arrive and throw Minoton far from the venue, where Butterfly tells Minoton that having fun is exciting and great in its own way, before purifying his Ranborg. HSPC28
When training in a gym, Minoton is confronted by Empress Undergu, who questions him for not capturing Ellee-chan. Minoton prefers challenging the Cures rather than dishonorably catching Ellee-chan. He then gets electrocuted by the angered Empress for his failures, followed by Skearhead sending him to another dimension.HSPC31 He then gets forcibly brainwashed and turned into a Ranborg by Skearhead. At first, the brainwashed Minoton gives the four Cures a difficult time, until Ellee-chan intervenes by transforming into Cure Majesty, who overwhelms Minoton. Although Sky and Prism initially save him by purifying him with Updraft Shining, Minoton is captured by Skearhead again afterwards.HSPC32
Minoton then barges into the ruin the Cures are investigating, and keeps overdosing himself with Undergu Energy while fighting against the Cures. Fortunately, the Cures manage to save him by purifying him with Majestic Halation. Minoton then thanks them for being noble enough to save him, which has helped him regain his warrior spirit, and wishes for them to become stronger before teleporting himself away.HSPC33
Minoton heads to Sky Land with Kabaton to protect its citizens from the attacking Ranborgs by purifying them with his Kira Kira Energy fists.HSPC48 After the final battle, he decides to stay with Empress Undergu, as warriors don't serve two masters. He is last seen with Kabaton bickering with Battamonda, which unknowingly amuses the Empress.HSPC50
Abilities[]
- Summoning Ranborgs: Like the other Undergu members, Minoton is able to summon Ranborgs by saying the phrase "C'mon! Undergu Energy!" (来たれ！アンダーグ・エナジー！)?.
- Teleportation: Also similar to the other Undergu members, Minoton can teleport himself away from one location to another by using his forehead's gemstone and saying "Minoton-ton!"
- Strength: Minoton is a strong and physically fit warrior. Currently, he can use the Kira Kira Energy from his fists to purify Ranborgs.
Trivia[]
- Despite their similar names and appearances, Minoton has no relation to Kabaton.
- Minoton, along with Kabaton, are the only Undergu Empire members who didn't summon a Ranborg in Sky Land.
- They're also the only anthropomorphic animals of the empire.
- Minoton, along with Skearhead, are the only Undergu Empire members who don't have any hair on their heads.
