Changes: Momozono Love

Momozono Love (桃園ラブ^?) is one of the four main Cures in Fresh Pretty Cure!, and is also the group leader. She is a second-year student at Public Yotsuba Junior High School, and is later in the same class as Setsuna.

Love's alter ego is Cure Peach (キュアピーチ, Cure Peach^?), and her catchphrase is "Get your happiness!" (しあわせゲットだよ！, "Get your happiness!"^?).

Bio

Appearance

Love has dark pink eyes and short, wavy dirty blonde hair worn in pigtails held by pink scrunchies with a decorative chain.

Outside of her school uniform, she wears a pale pink long-sleeved shirt with a pink vest, denim shorts, a brown belt, and pink and white sneakers with mauve socks. For summer, she swaps this with a pink top that has sky blue spaghetti straps and a heart design on the corner, dark grey short jeans, light blue knee socks and her sneakers. For dance she wears a white T-shirt with her normal sneakers, and a bright pink and white sweatsuit with upturned collar and knee-length pants.

In the movie, she wears a fuchsia turtleneck shirt with a sleeveless cream hoodie, denim shorts, and maroon socks with magenta boots.

As Cure Peach, her eyes brighten and her hair turns light blonde, growing out to thigh-length but worn in the same style, her scrunchies replaced by hot pink hearts with two chains. She also gains hot pink upside-down heart earrings and a dark pink choker. She wears a white ruffled mini-dress with dark pink stitching and a colorful clover on the side. Pink fabric resides over this, with dark pink ribbon laced through each side and a layer of hot pink sticking out from the bottom. Her Linkrun hangs around the waist. She also gains maroon knee-socks and a pair of dark pink and pink boots with white cuff, and matching colored ribbon wristbands.

As Cure Angel, her hair grows out longer, along with the chains of her hair ornaments and ribbon of her dress. Her outfit turns white with the exception of the secondary skirt layer, boots, shoulder straps, and wrist ribbons. Hanging from the back of the skirt are several ruffles, and her sleeves alter in shape. Her socks surpass the knees and have straps. She also gains large angel wings, and the clover ornament has an additional white heart on it.

As Cure Rainbow Peach, she resembles Angel Peach but with small gold wings.

Personality

Love is an energetic, cheery young girl who's passionate about helping others get their happiness. She is shown to be highly empathetic, often putting the needs of others over herself, frequently to her own detriment. Even under the most dire of circumstances, Love still manages to maintain a sense of optimism and positivity.

She can also be temperamental and somewhat childish at times, though this is usually over trivial matters, such as her dislike of carrots. She can be somewhat clumsy and impulsive at times, and has also been shown to dislike sports and studying. She loves to dance, and is a huge fan of the dance group Trinity.

Relationships

Higashi Setsuna: Love frequently comes into conflict with Setsuna during the latter's time as Eas. Though initially, Setsuna only befriended Love in an attempt to sabotage the Pretty Cures, Love's genuine cheeriness eventually manages to get through to her, and makes her doubt her allegiance to Labyrinth. Even after Setsuna reveals herself to be Eas, Love, despite being devastated by the revelation, refuses to give up on her. After Setsuna is reborn as Cure Passion and moves into the Momozono household^FPC24 , she and Love become very close friends, eventually developing a sisterly bond with one another.
Momozono Ayumi: Love is very close with her mother, and the two appear to relate with each other quite a bit. Despite being frustrated with Ayumi's strictness at times, Love cares for her mother very much, and takes it hard when she gets upset with her. The two often get into minor arguments over Love's dislike of carrots.
Momozono Genkichi: Love's deceased grandfather, who she was very close with when she was younger. Due to how young Love was when he passed away, she initially has a difficult time remembering what he was like, which causes her much distress.
Tarte: Love initially meets Tarte shortly after she first transforms into Cure Peach. He comes to live with her at her house, with her parents believing him to be an ordinary ferret. Tarte is looked upon as a family member by Love- although she is shown having short patience with him, especially when it comes to food, and brings up family honor and conduct.
Chinen Miyuki: The leader of the dance group Trinity, who later becomes Love and her friends' dance coach. Love is a huge fan of Miyuki and greatly admires her, and Miyuki, in turn, cares about Love as her dance protégé. Love values Miyuki's opinion of her quite highly, becoming forlorn when she gets angry with her.
Chinen Daisuke: Miyuki's younger brother and Love's childhood friend; he has a crush on her, though Love is oblivious to this for the majority of the series. Despite the fact that she and Daisuke frequently end up bickering with one another, she's repeatedly shown to care about him quite a bit and considers him a good friend.
Aono Miki: Along with Inori, she is one of Love's closest friends, who she's known since they were all young children. She admires her maturity and grace, and always does her best to support her.
Yamabuki Inori: Like Miki, Inori is Love's childhood best friend. She understands Inori's reserved and gentle personality, and considers her intelligent and reliable.

Etymology

Momozono (桃園, Momozono^?): Momo (桃, Momo^?) translates to peach, an obvious reference to her alter ego Cure Peach. Zono (園, Zono^?) means garden. Momozono is also a word meaning peach orchard.^[1]

Love (ラブ, Love^?): An obvious reference to her role as the Cure or Symbol of Love and to her loving personality. In-universe, her name was given to her by her grandfather. Her name is written in the katakana writing system, which is primarily used for writing non-Japanese words.

Peach is a fruit that can grow in warm temperatures and can be eaten fresh or baked in pies and cobblers.^[2]

History

Becoming Cure Peach

When Love heads to Kaoru-chan's Doughnuts Café, she gets lost along the way and comes across a Fortune Telling House. In the villa, she meets the fortune teller Setsuna who tells her to follow her. In the fortune teller room, Setsuna tells Love that she will encounter great happiness soon, which makes her happy. When she arrives back home, a big surprise awaits her. Love's mother Ayumi got a ticket for Trinity's concert and gives it to her daughter so that she can go. The next evening when Love watches Trinity's concert, her great joy is gone when Eas summoned a Nakewameke that destroys the whole concert. Then Love sees Miyuki attacked by the Nakewameke and decides to help and lead her to safety. When the Nakewameke attacks Love and Miyuki again, Pirun flies to Love's cellphone, turning it into a Linkrun and giving her the ability to transform into Cure Peach. After Peach defeated the Nakewameke with Love Sunshine, she encounters Eas and tells her that she's the legendary warrior Pretty Cure and will put an end to their evil deeds. Then Eas introduces herself to Peach and leaves. Later Miyuki wakes up and thanks Love for saving her and asks for her name. When Love notices her Linkrun, she realizes that everything that happened was real.^FPC01

Quarrel with her mother

Because Love's mother Ayumi works hard and comes home late, Love decides to make hamburgers for dinner. Her mother also demands that she includes the carrots even though she doesn't like them. Later at home, Love prepares the hamburgers. Then she leaves the kitchen when the doorbell rings. A few minutes later, when Love returns, she notices the hamburgers are gone and she accuses Tarte of eating them, but Tarte denies and tries to explain to her that they just disappeared. Love's mother arrives home suddenly and sees the plates empty. The mother and daughter then get into an argument that ends with Love saying to her she hates her and runs to her room.

The next day after the dance lesson, Love tells Miki and Inori about the fight between her and her mother. Her friends then cheer her up and decide to go shopping for the dinner Love will make. At the supermarket, the girls see that other objects also disappear and realize Labyrinth is responsible for it. In search of Labyrinth, Love and the others stop at her house because she's concerned about her mother. When Love enters the kitchen, her mother is gone all of a sudden. Then the others burst in and tell the location of Labyrinth. At that location, they find Soular with his Nakewameke and transform. After the Cures defeat the Nakewameke, all objects that got erased by the Nakewameke return. When Love gets home, Ayumi is already waiting for her. After they make up, the Momozono-Family have dinner.^FPC06

Reunion with Setsuna

Love is playing Lucky Draw in town when she meets Setsuna again. Upon her request, she gives a tour of the town, unaware that Setsuna was trying to steal Love's Linkrun. She gives Setsuna a clover necklace, and says goodbye, eager to meet her again. This markets the start of Love's friendship with Setsuna, and Eas' change in her intentions.^FPC07

Receiving her new power

One day, Love loses the link to Cure Vitan, who makes Chiffon's food. Unable to get food from the Linkrun, she makes something for Chiffon. Chiffon is a bit picky at first, but she eventually tries it. While in the middle of a fight with Westar's flower Nakewameke, the Pirun is called upon. She receives the Peach Rod upon use and defeats the Nakewameke.^FPC08

Cure Passion's birth

After a hard fight with the second Nakisakebe, Love and the other girls collapse near the entrance to the park.^FPC20 They make a full recovery and later tell Miyuki about their double life after Tart approaches her, as they believe Miyuki is the fourth Cure.^FPC21 The biggest shock comes to Love when she sees a suffering Eas in a stadium, who reveals her identity as Setsuna.^FPC22 Though still hurt and shocked, Love is determined to save her friend and turn her to good. Thanks to Cure Peach's words after fighting Eas and Eas' death, Chiffon calls upon the Akarun, and turns Setsuna into Cure Passion. Although she welcomes Cure Passion to the group, Cure Passion declines and goes off, ignoring Cure Peach who tries to follow.^FPC23

As Love is going to a restaurant with her parents, she sees Setsuna, and introduces her to her family. As she, Setsuna, and her family eat, she finally notices Setsuna smile. When Westar's tower Nakewameke attacks, Peach first confronts the monster on her own. Eventually, Setsuna becomes Cure Passion, and takes on Westar one-on-one. When a bell missile heads straight for her, she deflects it with aid from Cures Berry and Pine. Cure Peach officially welcomes Cure Passion to the team once the mess is cleaned up, and Love's mom offers to let her stay in their house, which she accepts.^FPC24

Memories of her grandfather

While Love is showing Setsuna the places and people around town, memories of Love's grandfather come up after Love shows Setsuna her tatami. Both the tatami and an old-fashioned camera are important to her. Love hesitates when Setsuna asks what kind of person her grandfather was. Soular turns the camera into a Nakewameke, but when Pretty Cure confront the menace, Cure Peach gets blinded by the camera's flash, and Love is spirited away to when she was younger. After Chiffon and Tart arrive, Chiffon activates her powers. She and the rest of the Cures call out to Love. Her grandfather tells her nothing lasts forever, and to return to the real world. She at first does not want to leave him, but goes out there with his advice in her heart. With her belief that the people she loves are always with her, she defeats the Nakewameke.^FPC28

Setsuna's school enrollment

At the beginning of the new school year, Setsuna transfers. Love is happy that Setsuna has become popular, but because she forgot about a baseball game Chinen Daisuke was playing, he gets mad at her. Love later comes to the game, and watches the team. After the game, Westar turns a pitching machine into a Nakewameke. Cure Peach saves Daisuke from an attack, and Peach is the first to make a hit in the baseball match. The four later purify the Monster of the day, and Love and Daisuke reconcile that evening.

Appearance in HUGtto! Pretty Cure

While Riko, Mirai, Kotoha, Homare, Emiru, and Ruru were flying over the park of Yotsuba, Mirai and Riko suddenly gets called out by a familiar voice. This voice belonged to Love, who was just practicing her dancing skills by herself, with Tarte and Chiffon watching her. After joining with her new friends, Love continued her dancing routine with having Ruru join her, who started to dance the robot dance. While the two were dancing, Harry and Tarte exchanged their experiences in caring for a child. Everyone was agreeing with their experiences, until Emiru remembered that they didn't have the time to relax or dance right now. She then approached Love, who claimed that she had to practice for a competition, she'd take part in the following day. Emiru then wonders if nothing would change, if time stopped, but Love assured her that time won't stop. She was confident that she, the Pretty Cures, would never let it come that far. Later, as Doctor Traum summons an Oshimaida, Love transforms into Cure Peach in order to help her friends defeating the enemy. However, the Cures have soon to find out that the whole world has already been frozen in time - along with their friends all over the world.^HuPC36

Cure Peach

Cure Peach (キュアピーチ, Cure Peach^?) is Love's Pretty Cure alias. She's the leader of Fresh Pretty Cure! She is symbolized by the pink heart which is the symbol of love. Her symbol is also the heart. Her Pickrun is Pirun.

When Love had transformed for the first time, Cure Peach is in her own state, defeating the Nakewameke and Eas with ease and no fear. After Eas has disappeared, the trance goes away, and Peach regains Love's consciousness. Later, when she deforms into Love again, Love wonders just who she was, as she acted like another person. This, however, does not happen again, as Love afterward is in her own mind while being Cure Peach.

Transformation

To transform into Cure Peach, she opens her Linkrun and slides her finger across the button. Her face is shown, and she shouts "Change..!". Next, her full body is shown, and she shouts "Pretty Cure!"., and her hair ornaments disappear. Then she puts her feet on the ground, raises her hands in the air, and shouts "Beat Up!". She spins around, runs, and jumps in the air. Her brooch appears, then her dress. Her hair changes and her other clothes and ornaments appear step by step. Cure Peach glides down, and then introduces herself.

To transform into Cure Angel, she shouts "Change, Pretty Cure! Beat up!" and her usual Cure clothes disappear. The Cure Angel version of her brooch appears. She starts to spin around, and a white light creates dress, shoes, arm warmers and Angel Wings for her. Next, her full costume is shown, and she introduces herself with the other Angel Cures. In the movie, she flies in the sky, as a white light appears, and shouts "Change, Pretty Cure!". Next her Cure Angel Brooch is showing, and it destroyed at the same time. She shouts "Beat Up!".Then her face is showing, and she introduces herself while white hearts appear behind her.

Attacks

Love Sunshine (ラブサンシャイン, Love Sunshine^?) is Cure Peach's first finisher. She first uses it in episode 1.
- Love Sunshine Fresh (ラブサンシャインフレッシュ, Love Sunshine Fresh^?) is the upgraded version of Love Sunshine that she performs with her Peach Rod. She first uses it in episode 8.
Triple Fresh (トリプルフレッシュ, Triple Fresh^?) is a movie-only group attack that Cure Peach performs with Berry and Pine. It is a combination of Love Sunshine with Espoir Shower and Healing Prayer.
Lucky Clover Grand Finale (ラッキークローバー・グランドフィナーレ, Lucky Clover Grand Finale^?) is a group attack she performs with Berry, Pine and Passion with the Clover Box. They first use it in episode 37.
Loving True Heart (ラビング・トゥルー・ハート, Loving True Heart^?) is an attack she uses as Cure Angel in the Fresh Pretty Cure! movie. In the series, she uses it as a group attack with her teammates, Berry, Pine and Passion.
- Loving True Heart Fresh (ラビング・トゥルー・ハートフレッシュ, Loving True Heart Fresh^?) is the upgraded version of Loving True Heart. She uses it with Berry, Pine, Passion, Tarte, Azukina, Westar and Soular in the final episode.
Cure Peach also uses a few very basic attacks, such as the Pretty Cure Punch and Pretty Cure Kick, together with her friends.

Cure Angel

Cure Angel (キュアエンジエル, Cure Angel^?) is an upgrade form Cure Peach gains in the movie. To unlock this form, she needed the fifth Pickrun to enter her Linkrun.

In this form, Cure Angel is capable of flying in fast speed, and has a powered-up strength. In this form, she can perform the attack, Loving True Heart.

This form is seen again during the final episodes of the series after the people of Labyrinth cheered them on. This time, instead of a fifth Pickrun, Pirun and the rest of the Pickruns transform into their angel forms, enabling Cure Angel's powers to go through the rest of the Pretty Cure, as well.

Cure Rainbow Peach

Cure Rainbow Peach (キュアレインボーピーチ, Cure Rainbow Peach^?) is an upgrade Cure Peach gains in Pretty Cure All Stars DX 2. Together with the others' upgrades, the group of seventeen girls form the group Cure Rainbow. This upgraded outfit resembles that of Cure Angel in both the movie and the season's finale.

As a main character, Love's voice actor, Oki Kanae has participated in several image songs for the character she voices. Many of them include duets with Kitamura Eri, who voices Aono Miki, Nakagawa Akiko, who voices Yamabuki Inori, and Komatsu Yuka, who voices Higashi Setsuna.

In the Pretty Cure All Stars Suite Flower Card Collection, Love is represented by the African daisy, which symbolizes a bright and forward-looking personality in the Language of Flowers.

Cure Peach has a habit of making a hand sign with her thumb, index finger, and pinky finger out. In American sign language, this position of her hand means "I love you", which corresponds with her name and her power of love.

Cure Peach is the only Fresh! Cure whose name is not a shortened version of a type of fruit (in this case, the full word is "peach"). The other Cures' names come from shortened names of fruits (Cure Berry - blueberry, Cure Pine - pineapple, and Cure Passion - passion fruit).
Love appeared as Cure Peach to give the 10th anniversary congratulatory message at the beginning of episode 18 of Happiness Charge Pretty Cure!.
