  • Nagisa: Yumiko has the most trust and patience in Nagisa, during moments where she screws up in games or goes missing just before them. She always believes Nagisa will be back.

History[]

She appeared as a cameo in the first episode, watching Nagisa and the others practice. Although, in that appearance, her hair and bandana color are different from the usual. As this footage is reused in the sixteenth episode, she technically also appears there.

Her first appearance with a speaking role is in the seventh episode. She leads a group huddle before the game against Otagaku Junior High. Once the match begins, Rina passes the ball to Yumiko, who tries to pass it to Nagisa, but the girl, distracted, misses and a player from Otagaku is able to take it and score. Verone eventually loses the match. Later, when Verone plays against Kakutokandai Junior High School, Nagisa disappears just before the match. Yumiko says that they'll just have to play without her at first. When Nagisa returns in the nick of time, Yumiko recives the ball from Rina, and then passes it to Nagisa, who makes the winning shot.

In the twenty-third episode, Yumiko participates in the team's summer retreat led by Verone alumni Fujita Akane. When Akane chews Nagisa out for failing to make a shot in the goal, Yumiko comforts her. Later that night, when Shiho "disappears," she expresses worry and helps search for her, although the missing girl was just in the bath. She is among the students and teachers trapped at the campsite due to the doings of Ilkubo. Eventually they are able to return home.

In the thirty-third episode, just as the match against Otagaku is about to begin, Yumiko and Nagisa notice a strange girl on the other team, that neither of them know. When the girl asks to take a photo with Nagisa, Yumiko teases the girl for being popular even with the rival team. However, by the time the match begins, Nagisa hasn't returned yet, so Yumiko substitutes Megumi in her place, and tells Shiho to hold her place for now. Once Nagisa returns, she is able to turn things around for Verone.

In the thirty-fourth episode, for the upcoming school sports festival, she, Nagisa, and Rina are on the pink team for the relay event, which many believe is a shoe-in to win the race. However, once the event is about to begin, Nagisa does not show up, so Yumiko decides to move her position up by one leg, stating that she may also have to run the anchor position too. Luckily, Nagisa arrives just in time as Yumiko is still on her initial position, allowing Nagisa to run as anchor and win the race for the team.

She plays her final match as a junior high student in the fourty-first episode. She tells the team that, rather than winning, focusing on playing as best as they can so they can have no regrets. When the match begins, Nagisa and Honoka are taken out of the stadium by Juna, who makes it so that those still at the stadium believe Nagisa is still there. When Otagaku scores a point, Yumiko believes that "Nagisa" missed the pass from Shiho earlier, so she comforts her, saying that there's still time. When Nagisa returns, the game is in overtime, as Yumiko was able to make a final return to extend the game. When Otagaku misses their shot at the goal, Verone is able to steal back the ball, as Yumiko passes it to Nagisa, who scores the winning point. The two high five in celebration.

Yumiko appears with the other third-years during the graduation ceremony in the final episode.

Though she doesn't appear in Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart, Yumiko is mentioned by Nagisa in the ninth episode when she wonders what she'd do regarding infighting among her teammates.
