Bio[]

Appearance[]

Papaya is a brown, chihuahua-like creature with a full head of hair and a moustache covering his mouth, indicating his age. The only thing he wears is a red bowtie.

Personality[]

He is a strict disciplinarian. One time, when Coco and Nuts were young, they climbed a very important tree that overlooked the entire kingdom, and ended up breaking off an entire frond. They snuck out behind Papaya's back to try and find a Pinky that could fix it, but he eventually caught them, scolding and punishing them.YPC539 He also scolds Milk, mostly in the sequel season, such as when she slacks off, as well as when she lies about a crisis in the kingdom to get Coco and Nuts to immediately return.YPC5GG07

Relationships[]

  • Coco and Nuts: He cares very much for the co-kings of the Palmier Kingdom, but can be stern with them, such as when they misbehaved as children.
  • Milk: He is the boss of Milk, the junior caretaker of the co-kings. As such, he acts like a strict teacher towards her.

Etymology[]

Papaya comes from the tropical fruit of the same name, fitting with the tropical themes of the Palmier Kingdom.

History[]

Yes! Pretty Cure 5[]

He first appears in the thirty-ninth episode of Yes! Pretty Cure 5, albeit in a flashback of him scolding and punishing Coco and Nuts for sneaking out of the castle. During the final battle against Nightmare, it's revealed that, following the destruction of the kingdom, all of its remaining denizens were brainwashed and turned into subordinates of the organization, who primarily appear in the background wearing Kowaina masks, Papaya included. When Milk's words break through to the denizens, their masks break, reverting all of them to their mascot forms. They all lend their power to Pretty Cure to defeat Nightmare once and for all.YPC548 Once the fight is over, Papaya asks who, between Coco and Nuts, will become the king, but Milk persuades everyone that they should both be king together. They all, along with Coco, Nuts, and Milk, return to the Palmier Kingdom to rebuild it.YPC549

Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo![]

He plays a somewhat more active role in the sequel season. When Coco, Nuts, and later Milk, are away from the kingdom, he is in charge of the rebuilding efforts. He greatly values the monarchy and its importance to the people, as he discusses with King Doughnuts.YPC5GG07 In episode 31, after Nuts finishes setting up the Milky Note, the group sets up a video call with Papaya and the others in the kingdom. In episode 39, Milk contacts him on how to heal the ill Montblanc, but he is unable to come up with anything. Later, as Eternal's Boss leaves for the Cure Rose Garden, black clouds enshroud the Palmier Kingdom, as Papaya and the other denizens look above in confusion. Once he reveals his true form, he unleashes a power that destroys multiple worlds, including the Palmier Kingdom.YPC5GG47 After the battle is over and Eternal is defeated, Papaya can be seen alongside Nuts replanting crops in the kingdom.YPC5GG48

Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~[]

He appears in the Palmier Kingdom in the final episode, wondering when Coco will return as he needs to ask him something. When Milk brings up that she wants to become Prime Minister, and solicits the kingdom's subjects for suggestions on how to improve their home, Papaya is initially reluctant, but suggests the building of new roads to establish better relations with neighboring countries.KnCOPC12
