Etymology[]
Pas De Deux: Pas De Deux is a ballet dance duet. It is pronounced as [pɑ d(ə) dø] (French, literally "step of two"). It is where two dancers, a male and female, perform ballet steps. The pas de deux is found in well-known ballets, such as Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and Giselle.[1]
History[]
Past[]
In the past, Pas De Deux used to dance with someone important to him, his best friend and partner Duet. As time went by they deepened their friendship by dancing together, but one day he lost Duet, as he passed away.
Pas De Deux then joined Death Parade and became The Fairy of Darkness, Death Parade's highest follower and right hand of their King, Clown. He gave Kazuho and Nobara their powers, turning them into Choreographer and Rosaliard. Pas de Deux did all this while also looking to obtain the Score of Hope for his own purposes: to bring "that person" back to life behind Despearade's back. He hid his true motives by pretending to have come from the kingdom of light, Hope Beat.
Dancing☆Star Pretty Cure The Stage[]
After going on his mission to find the Pretty Cure, Pas De Deux flies right into Gaku. Pas de Deux apologizes and Gaku is dismayed by him. Just then, a worker complaining about being yelled at by his company is filled with hatred. He turns into an "evil dancer" and puts a mask on. Pas de Deux fends off the dancer. Gaku, however, jumps in and restrains, shoves away, and demands the dancer leave Pas De Deux alone. When Gaku becomes Cure Top, Pas De Deux helps him learn that in order to defeat the evil dancer, he must follow his light rhythm. Afterwards, Pas De Deux reassures Top that the unconscious worker will wake up and forget the dark rhythm he experienced. Pas De Deux obtains a Heartbeat Jewel from the worker and thanks Top. When Top is confused by the series of events, Pas De Deux explains he needs Top's power and assistance, as it is to make peace in the world. As a result, Top ends up freaking out, but Pas De Deux trusts him as a Pretty Cure.
He also tells Gaku about his mission, the story of Hope Beat and Death Parade, and becomes his friend when they overcome their bickering. In addition, when Hayato witnesses their next battle, Pas De Deux keeps him safe. He also tells Hayato and Gaku about the Heartbeat Jewels and the goal to complete the Score of Hope to make a wish. Later, once Kei leaves, Gaku waves to him. Pas De Deux appears out of nowhere. He has been monitoring Death Parade's generals, advising Gaku and Hayato to look out for Mitsuru as his despair could be targeted.
During the aftermath of Soul and Kagura's battle, Pas De Deux comes at the last minute with Hayato. Kagura is angry with Pas De Deux because the fairy didn't tell him and Soul that Gaku and Hayato were Pretty Cures. Pas De Deux wanted to introduce them to each other but Kagura argues they don't need two more comrades. Turning into a human, Pas De Deux argues how powerful the general is and tells the four Cures that they need one more recruit. When Sasana, Gaku, and Hayato discuss this, Pas De Deux comes at the last minute yet again with the pancakes he made. He witnesses Sasana accept being Gaku's friend to himself as he accidentally drops the pancakes.
Later, when Kazuho torments the Cures as Choreographer, Pas De Deux flies in and chomps away their restraints. Pas De Deux evacuates Mitsuru and Kei. After Kazuho's loss, Pas De Deux is able to lots of Heartbeat Jewels.
A few months later, the tournament is about to begin. Pas De Deux meets Kei, who is suspicious of his looks. Pas De Deux simply defines himself as "Pas De Deux". Mitsuru gets to meet the fairy. While the fairy watches with Kazuho, Kazuho still hates their performance, but starts to turn over a new leaf thanks to Gaku. However, Pas De Deux reveals Kazuho had a special power leading to his desperation, and if it was purified, they could've gotten a bigger Heartbeat Jewel. He thinks Kazuho could've been more useful, so he takes a Jewel of Light out of him and raises it to someone he values metaphorically.
Dancing☆Star Pretty Cure The Stage 2[]
At the start of the story, when the Cures are fighting, Pas De Deux gets Gaku to transform into Cure Top. Top purifies the dancers with Happy Star Feet and they get a Heartbeat Jewel. However, Lock acknowledges Kazuho hasn't been purified. Although Pas De Deux says Kazuho is likely to forget the dark rhythm, a new general could ambush them.
When the Otogiri Twins attack, Pas De Deux creates a blinding light so the injured Cures can escape, but this is to actually protect the twins. He and the Cures soon check on Kouga, who has to recover from his injuries. Pas De Deux was able to make an excuse by lying as a dance club advisor, Padoyama Doutaru, in order to get Kouga hospitalized in the shrine. He tells a humorous story much to Kouga's anger. After Souichirou proposes a deal for the Cures to help with the festival, Pas De Deux gives Gaku the cleaning bucket to get started.
Soon, Nobara confronts him and asks why he joined the Pretty Cures. She reveals his true nature. However, Pas De Deux isn't betraying Death Parade, but rather taking advantage of the Cures. He viewed hope and despair as two sides of the same coin. They could make the Cures fall into despair; thus he was faking being their ally. He makes Evil Bracelets. Nobara's is certain the twins can do without them, but Pas De Deux reveals he intervened for their own safety. Nobara takes the bracelets and leaves.
After Nobara is weakened and retreats, Pas De Deux stops her from fighting him, having gotten stronger. He plans on taking her Heartbeat Jewel to make his dream come true, realizing he won't dance alone. Rosaliard can't accept this since it'd be the end of the world. Pas De Deux wants her to believe in the Cures. Rosaliard accepts, before collapsing as Pas De Deux takes her Jewel of Light to fulfill more of the Score of Hope.
The competition has begun a week later. While the Cures perform, Pas De Deux greets the amnesiac Nobara. Nobara loves the Cures' dance and envies them, wishing she could have fun. Pas De Deux offers to dance with her, and he's certain she'll complete his goal for "him" - his loved one.
