Trivia[]
- Futari wa Pretty Cure is the only series to be translated in the following languages: Canadian English, Indonesian, Malay, Singaporean English, and Tagalog.
- Heartcatch! is meanwhile the only series to be translated in Serbia. Also the first season to get a dub for the movie but not for the series, this being the French one.
- Smile! and Doki Doki! are also the only seasons to be translated in: Arabic, Danish, Dutch, Flemish, Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, European Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, and Turkish.
- Many adaptions changed the Cures to something else.
- In the Albanian and Vietnamese dubs they are known as Warriors and Girls in later Albanian dubbed seasons.
- In the Cantonese and Taiwanese Mandarin dubs as Angels and Elf Pixies in Fresh!.[4]
- In the Glitter Force dubs as Glitters.
- In the Serbian dub, Tsubomi is renamed to Magical Heart and the rest are Fairies.[5]
- Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure! and KiraKira☆Pretty Cure A La Mode are the only known seasons to get a voice-over adaption instead of a full dub. A woman speaks in Vietnamese over the Japanese audio.
- Germany, Italy, and the USA are the only countries that released CDs featuring translated songs. The one in the USA had the Fresh! and Heartcatch! ending themes, the one in Germany included all the Futari wa songs that were released in Japan translated into German and the Italian one contained the songs that were translated into Italian among the first three series.
- DVD releases existed only in Germany, Hong Kong, Latin America, Taiwan, and Thailand.
- Movie dubs, including All Stars ones in some cases, were produced only in Albania, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, Spain, and Taiwan.
- Manga translations were released only in China and Korea.
- Rights for the Glitter Force dubs only allowed TV broadcasts to air the first 20 episodes.
- The Canadian English and Italian dubs are the only dubs to be used as translation sources to other dubs.
- Futari wa, Yes! 5, and Suite♪ are the only seasons to have unreleased dubs.
- The ones for Futari wa include an American English dub by 4kids, which was dropped by said company, and a Brazilian Portuguese dub which would have been made in association with Toei.
- The Yes! 5 ones include an English dub from North America and a French dub. The English adaption was made by William Winckler Productions and was forced to stop by Toei. The French dub was made by Toei Europe and would have been released alongside Heartcatch!'s movie if the movie had ended up a success.
- Suite♪ would also have had an Italian dub produced by La BiBi studio. It was stopped due to Saban Brands purchasing the rights for the franchise.
- Futari wa, Yes! 5, Heartcatch!, Smile! and Doki Doki! and Healin' Good♥ are the only seasons with incomplete dubs or skipped episodes.
- The Futari wa Korean version skips episodes 15 and 29 while the Latin one only reached episode 26.
- For the Yes! 5 English and French dubs, it is unknown how many episodes were translated. The Italian dub only had 48 episodes due to episode 27 being skipped.
- The Greek Heartcatch! translation only reached episode 24.
- The Serbian Heartcatch! dub is unique, the TV station aired the first 27 episodes twice before finding out the dub itself is actually illegal. In 2022, an employee of the channel leaked the entire dub online, in addition to the other 22 unaired episodes.
- All Glitter Force dubs skipped episodes 10, 17, 19, 26, 27, 33, 34 and 36. Additionally, the Greek and Russian versions only had the first 20 episodes dubbed.
- All Glitter Force Doki Doki dubs had episodes 12, 14, 19, 28, 29, 32 to 38, 40 to 42 and 44 skipped. Also, episodes 1 and 2, 5 and 6 were merged.
- The Healin' Good♥ French subtitled version starts with episode 31 and ends with episode 45.
- The Wonderful! Korean dub skips episode 23, but the shortened summary of this episode was aired along with episode 24.
English Pilots[]
In North America as well as several other countries in the world, there were many plans of launching a translated adaption of the franchise. The first time an English-voiced footage of Pretty Cure was launched was around August to September of 2005. The German broadcasting company was informed that the German adaption for Futari wa was not finished yet and they preferred showing some English clips that were made for a trailer to promote the series in North America.
In 2007, Toei USA planned to air an episode of Max Heart dubbed into English in one of their screening events, however, the company ended up screening episodes 30 and 31 of the original in English, with a lot of fans believing it is the Singaporean one.
After 4kids lost the license of the original series in 2007, they tried to renew it with no results at all. The license was eventually sold to Ocean Productions where the season was dubbed and also made trailers for Splash Star and Yes! 5 for promoting the series in North America.
