Sakagami Ayumi (坂上 あゆみ)? is the first movie-exclusive human character in the All Stars series.
Her Pretty Cure alter ego is Cure Echo (キュアエコー)?.
Bio
Appearance
Ayumi is a young girl with dark brown eyes and long brown hair, styled in slightly curled twin tails held with red scrunchies. She usually wears a grey and mauve school uniform, and for casual attire, she wears a long-sleeved yellow top with a pastel blue open jacket, a blue skirt, brown ankle-length boots with a lighter cuff, and white tube socks.
As Cure Echo, her hair grows to her ankles and turns blonde while retaining her original style, held with pale pink ribbons with green hearts in the middle. Her eyes turn gold. She wears a short white dress with straps and thin magenta stripes that go down to her skirt. The dress also has a light pink ruffle surrounding the shoulders. There is a pale green and yellow bow on her chest with a green brooch with the Smile Pretty Cure! insignia in the middle, and on her waist is a large pale pink bow with pale cream ruffles. The skirt is white with pale mint and fluffy pale yellow layers underneath, along with white shorts. On her back is a pale pink ribbon. Her arm warmers are white with a matching wing-like cuff around the wrist, while her boots are white with sky-blue toe tips and heels. Her accessories include a white choker and gold heart earrings with a star dangling from it on both earrings.
Personality
Ayumi was very shy and lonely, to the point that she finds it really hard to even talk to her classmates. However, she becomes very protective over Fuu-chan upon meeting him and will go past her limits out of her love for him. By the end of New Stage, Ayumi shows that she has grown to become brave and fearless, and is overall much happier.
Relationships
- Fuu-chan: When she meets and befriends Fuu-chan, she is unaware that he is the villain Fusion. At first, she blames herself for empowering him, but eventually is able to make amends with him after she becomes Cure Echo.
- EnEn and Gureru: Her fairy partners. She is able to regain her transformation powers, thanks to their help.
Etymology
Sakagami (坂上)?: Saka (坂) means "slope/hill", Gami (上) means "up"
Ayumi (あゆみ)?: Ayumi (あゆみ) means "walking" or "progressing".
Together, Ayumi's name has the meaning of "walking uphill". This could be a reference to gradually overcoming a problem, possibly Ayumi overcoming her shyness and indecision.
Cure Echo means a sound or series of sounds caused by the reflection of sound waves from a surface back to the listener.
History
Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage
Ayumi is a schoolgirl from Yokohama who really loves Pretty Cure, but is too shy to talk about it with her classmates. She meets Fuu-chan while walking home, and they become friends without her knowing that he's one of Fusion's fragments. When she finds out Fuu-chan is Fusion, she blames herself for his actions. However, she later resolves to let her true feelings reach Fuu-chan so she can help the Pretty Cures. This action allows her to become a Pretty Cure, Cure Echo. After that, she makes amends with Fuu-chan before reverting back to her civilian form, while materializing a white Cure Decor.
Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage 2
Ayumi makes a cameo appearance in the opening of New Stage 2 , at the PANPAKA Pan Bakery owned by Hyuuga Saki's family.
Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage 3
Ayumi returns in New Stage 3, called into the Dream World to aid the Pretty Cure. It's shown that, after her time as Cure Echo, she recovered and kept her Cure Decor, wearing it on the breast pocket of her coat. She also gains her fairy partners EnEn and Gureru, and is able to transform again.

Cure Echo (キュアエコー)? is Ayumi's alter ego, which she gained from her true feelings for Fuu-chan, then later EnEn and Gureru. Echo didn't possess any attacks until the last New Stage movie, where she summons Heartful Echo as her only attack.

- Ayumi shares her given name with Momozono Ayumi, a minor character from Fresh Pretty Cure!, Kumazawa Ayumi, a minor character from Heartcatch Pretty Cure!, Aida Ayumi from, a minor character Doki Doki! Pretty Cure, and Ayumi, a fairy from Pretty Cure All Stars: Haru no Carnival♪.
- Before her official reveal, an image circulated showing a character named Cure Union in black and pink, resembling a mix of Cure Happy and Kamen Rider Decade. The character was said to be named Hoshizora Ikue and described as Miyuki's future daughter from a future where Fusion rules. However, this was proven to be fake with the first update of the New Stage website.
- The name Cure Echo was first revealed on the packaging of Pretty Cure Snack, a series of small snack packages featuring the movie Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage: Mirai no Tomodachi.
- Cure Echo's character designer is Aoyama Mitsuru, the character designer for many of the Pretty Cure All Stars films.
- Cure Echo's transformation Cure Decor is a white ribbon with a hexagon on it, which has six sides. Incidentally, she is the sixth Cure with the Smile! emblem on her medallion.
- Her transformation decor is in the same shape as the Miracle Light for the All Stars movie of her debut.
- In Pretty Cure All Stars: Minna de Utau♪ Kiseki no Mahou!, Cure Echo's transformation scene was slightly altered. She is seen smiling on her finishing pose as opposed to her serious appearance from New Stage 1.
- Cure Echo is referred to as an illusory Pretty Cure before having a fairy partner in New Stage 3.
- She is the only main Cure in the franchise who doesn't have a character song.
- Ayumi has an unnamed mother, who appears in Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage: Mirai no Tomodachi.
- Ayumi moved to Yokohama because her father got a new job.
