Sakura Uta (咲良うた )? is one of the three main Cures in Kimi to Idol Pretty Cure♪. She is a second-year student.
With an "Idol Smile" as fan service, Uta transforms into Cure Idol (キュアアイドル )?. Her catchphrase is "Kirakilala~♪" (キラッキランラン~♪ )?.
Bio
Appearance
Uta has long brown hair that reaches the middle of her back with long bangs and two strands that curl upwards. She also wears a thin magenta headband with a yellow eighth-note charm on the left. Her eyes are mahogany. Her top is salmon pink with loose long pink sleeves that reach her wrists and holes in the shoulders that have pale pink bows at the bottom. A small magenta heart with gold beads on each side rests in the middle of the neckline. She also wears a blue two-layered skirt with her Idol Heart Brooch pouch on the left side. Her Mary Janes are red with light red bows and soles and her socks are white.
As a child, Uta wore a pink blouse with a white collar, and a fuchisa skirt with a red ribbon attached. She also wore white socks, and red flats. Her eigth-note charm was on the lower left side of her bangs.
As Cure Idol, Uta's hair turns blonde and grows thicker and longer. On the top of her head are two large buns that make the hair look like it's styled as a giant bow. Around each bun is a long magenta ribbon that curl upwards on each side and they're decorated with three light blue pearls of differing sizes. There are also two large curls on each side and a magenta streak shaped like a heart on the left side. On the right is a magenta heart-shaped clip with a large magenta plaid ribbon. Her eyes turn turquoise. She wears a magenta halter top with a fuchsia choker-like ribbon that ties on the left. Worn over the top is a fuchsia band with a pale pink top worn over it with her Idol Heart Brooch resting on the left side of the chest with a magenta plaid ribbon. Her puffy detached sleeves are pale pink with magenta bands on each end along with a thin magenta armband around her right arm. Her wristbands are magenta with pale pink ruffles at the end and a piece covering back of her hand with a magenta heart and a small pale blue bead in the middle. On her right arm is a long pale pink handless glove. Her skirt is wide with alternating panels of magenta with white crisscrossed stripes and hot pink plaid. The waistband is magenta with white scalloped lining at the bottom. There are two scalloped layers of pale pink and magenta underneath the skirt. On the right side is a long and thick piece of magenta fabric with white lining and a pink heart at the end. The inside of the fabric is cyan. On her back is a light purple ribbon with a magenta stripe and cyan scalloped ends that have large magenta hearts hanging with a small magenta bead on top. Her platform boots are pale pink with a magenta stripe on top decorated with one heart-shaped and two pale blue pearls below it. There are also fuchsia ribbons on each side of the boots and the soles are pink with a magenta stripe on top.
Personality
Uta is a bright and energetic girl who loves to sing. It's common for her to sing her feelings on the spot. She loves things that are sparkling, lively, and full of smiles, which give off a "KiraKiranran" feeling. Uta is also straightforward with her thoughts, but can often come off as tactless. Uta is a terrible liar, and struggles to keep her ego in check when she hears people praising her Cure Idol alias.
Relationships
- Purirun: Uta was surprised when she realized Purirun was a talking fairy, but decides to help Purirun find the Idol Pretty Cure. Despite Purirun's antics, she grows fond of Purirun, and befriends them.
- Aokaze Nana: Uta met Nana at a piano competition when they were children. Uta gave Nana courage by telling her to wink before going on stage. Years later, Uta meets Nana again, and forms a close friendship with her. Uta accidentally blurts out that she's Cure Idol, but asks Nana to keep it a secret. Uta is happy when Nana transforms into Cure Wink.
- Sakura Hamori: Uta's younger sister. Uta cares a lot about Hamori, who in turn adores and admires her.
Etymology
Sakura (咲良 )? can have mulitple meanings, with "cherry blossom" being the most well known one[1]. However the usage of this particular kanji has a different meaning: Saku (咲 )? means "bloom", while Ra (良 )? means "good"[2].
Cure Idol means "someone who is admired and respected very much, such as a pop idol"[4].
History
Past
As a child, Uta had been well-known in her parents' cafe, due to her passion for singing to the customers.KIPC01 When participating in a piano competition, Uta met Nana, and taught her a wink spell. The two girls would not meet again until a few years later, when they were second-year middle school students.KIPC03
Transforming Into Cure Idol
While walking her dog, Kyutarou, Uta notices a giant peach floating down a river. She goes to investigate, and is greeted by a bright light. There, she meets Purirun, so Uta takes Purirun back to her house, assuming Purirun is just a plush toy. After singing to Ema, Uta notices Purirun has gone missing. Uta walks into her room, where she finds Purirun. Purirun tells Uta that they're searching for the Idol Pretty Cure, so Uta decides to help them. However, no one in town seems to know what the Pretty Cure are, so Uta begins to give up until she misunderstands a man she sits next to, thinking he admitted he's the Pretty Cure Purirun was looking for. Uta sends Purirun off with the man, and goes back to her normal life. Until she sees the peach floating down the river again. Puririn insists Uta has the qualities to be an Idol Pretty Cure, but Uta declines. However, a Makkuranda appears in town, and Uta realizes it's Ema. Uta is determined to save Ema, so she refuses to run away, and instead attempts to sing to the Makkuranda on her own. Her determination grants her the Pretty Cure Ribbon and an Idol Heart Brooch, allowing her to transform into Cure Idol. Idol manages to successfully purify the Makkuranda by performing Unison of Smiles♪ and Idol Smiling, rescuing Ema in the process. Idol proceeds to have a delayed surprise reaction to actually being the Idol Pretty Cure.KIPC01
Uta is initially shocked when Purirun filmed and uploaded her Cure Idol performance online, but she is also enjoying the attention she receives as a Cure. Uta initially doesn't take her role of being a Pretty Cure seriously despite being told by Pikarine about Darkine. However, Uta realizes her importance of being Cure Idol after hearing Cutty discourage Purirun while trying to save Mikoto. After the battle, Idol fulfills the rescued Mikoto's wish to meet her, and later declares to Purirun that she will bring light to the darkness.KIPC02

Cure Idol (キュアアイドル )? is Uta's Pretty Cure alias. She transforms using the Idol Heart Brooch and the pink Pretty Cure Ribbon.
Transformation
- Pretty Cure! Light Up!: Uta holds her Idol Heart Brooch and shouts the transformation phrase before inserting her Pretty Cure Ribbon on the top part of the brooch. Then she taps the brooch three times, causing the mirror ball in the middle to shine. The background changes as Uta shouts "Kirakira, Dress Change! Yay!" and presses the buttons on the sides. The mirror ball spins and shines in different colors while Uta's hair lengthens, her eyes turn blue, and her hair turns blonde and is styled in a large bow-shaped bun. Then, she shouts "You and I! Yay!" and presses the buttons again, causing her dress to appear. Finally, she shouts "Together! Yay!", causing her boots, wristbands, and accessories to appear. Idol places her brooch on her chest and introduces herself before striking a pose.

Uta's voice actor, Matsuoka Misato has participated in several image songs for the character she voices. Many of them include group songs with Takahashi Minami, who voices Aokaze Nana, and Takamori Natsumi, who voices Shigure Kokoro.
