Etymology[]

The name "Santa Claus" originates from the Dutch nickname "Sinterklaas," which is a shortened version of "Sint Nikolaas," meaning "Saint Nicholas" in Dutch; essentially, Santa Claus is named after Saint Nicholas, a historical figure known for his generosity and gift-giving, making him the inspiration for the modern Santa Claus character.

History[]

Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo![]

One day, as Natts House is being set up with decorations for Christmas, Mailpo spits out several bags of toys and a letter with a list detailing the names and addresses of children and the specific toys they are to receive. The bags and letter are later revealed to have come from Santa Claus.

As Nozomi and the group deliver the presents to children in town, Syrup, while out delivering presents with Urara, spots a weakened old man with long white hair and a beard to match, sitting on a park bench. However, the two are in a hurry and don't stop to check on him. Once Urara and Syrup finish their delivery, they spot the old man in the same spot again, this time going over to ask him what's wrong. The man, who is later revealed to be Santa, although none of the cast realize it at the time, mentions that he lost his parcels in the middle of a delivery, distraught that he won't be able to make his deliveries in time. Syrup tries to give him words of encouragement, but the old man falls over, with Urara noting that he has a high fever.

They bring the old man over to Natts House where he is able to rest, with Karen looking over him. The old man wakes up, and Karen tells him that he had been pushing himself too hard lately. He notes that everyone is dressed in red for Christmas, exactly like "Santa Claus." When Syrup tells him that they are all making deliveries, the old man notes how helpful they are, and says that he needs to go find his missing packages, but is urged to stay and rest. Syrup asks the old man what exactly is it he lost, and the old man notes that he lost his sleigh while carrying his packages. Syrup goes out to find the old man's missing sleigh, but is confronted by Mucardia. Back at Natts House, the old man senses a premonition that the boy is in danger.

After the confrontation, the group, minus Syrup, are shocked to learn that the sleigh they fought as a Hoshina, actually belongs to the old man. He notes that "something," that being Mucardia, attacked him in the middle of his delivery, from which he fell and was caught on a large tree. He caught a cold, and after he came to, he realized his list and packages were gone. Komachi notes that it was because of the old man's strong feelings that allowed him to connect to Mailpo who delivered his goods to them. It is then that Syrup realizes who the old man really is, who tells the boy that if he ever loses something, his friends will help him find it, just like they did for him. The old man refers to himself as the greatest deliveryman "in history," "transporting dreams across the world." He whistles as two reindeer come down from the sky. Nuts offers his Santa outfit to the old man, so that he won't catch another cold, but Rin teases him by claiming that he just doesn't want to wear the costume anymore. A grateful Santa then rides off, with Nozomi and Urara only realizing at the last moment that the old man was the real Santa Claus. Nozomi is in despair as she forgot to buy the cake, but Mailpo points to a present by the tree, which happens to be a cake, from Santa as thanks.YPC5GG44

There, the Cures learn about how he and his wife have worked all year to make the toys to deliver to Sky Land's children and make them smile.
