"School Excursion! Lost in Osaka!?" (修学旅行!大阪で迷子になっちゃった!? Shūgaku Ryokō! Osaka de Maigo ni Nacchatta!??) is the 14th episode of Smile Pretty Cure!, the 13th episode of Glitter Force, and the 403rd episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall. The English title is "The Lost Girls" .

Synopsis[]

Miyuki, Candy, and Yayoi get separated from their class while their school trip continues. As Akane, Nao, and Reika try to find them, Miyuki and Yayoi get trapped inside of a radio tower by Majorina.

Summary[]

The school trip continues, and the girls' class travels by bus to Osaka. Nao thinks about the various foods special to there, like takoyaki and okonomiyaki, and the girls are excited to try takoyaki. They split into groups, and Miss Sasaki reminds everyone to stick together during the trip.

Reika checks the schedule to point out the three locations they plan to visit: Osaka Castle, Nakanoshima, and the Tennouji Zoo. At Osaka Castle, Reika regales the girls with the building's history when they realize that they have gotten Miyuki, Yayoi, and Candy have gotten separated from the rest of the group.

Meanwhile, Majorina is furious to discover that her candy jar is empty. Just then, she happens to see a television show featuring natto gyoza candy sold by a store in Osaka, and heads to the city to find some.

Akane, Nao, and Reika fail to find the others, and leave the castle to search for them, assuming that they have left already. When a group of local women give Yayoi some candy, she's inspired to think of it like a roleplaying game, talking to NPCs to acquire items and information. They bump into the ladies again and head to eat with them at a ramen shop. The ladies recommend taking the boat to Nakanoshima.

Akane, Nao, and Reika arrive at the restaurant moments after the others left, and Nao hopes to eat kitsune udon. They meet the women from before, who advise that Miyuki and the others are already on their way. The girls rush after them, and much to Nao's dismay there is no time to eat udon. On the boat, a pair of women give Miyuki and the others some candy. Reika, Akane and Nao missed the boat, and run after them on a bridge.

At Nakanoshima Central Public Hall, the girls meet classmates Mayu, Kiyomi, and Hiroko, who say they just missed Miyuki and the others. Miyuki and the others enjoy okonomiyaki. They spot a takoyaki stall, but remember how they promised to enjoy it with Reika, and decide to wait. Reika and the others reach the okonomiyaki shop exhausted and famished, but they have no time to stop.

The ladies from before give Miyuki and Yayoi natto gyoza candy. They spot the landmark Tsuutenkaku Tower and decide to climb it to spot the others.

Majorina arrives at the candy shop to find that they are all out of natto gyoza candy she was looking forward to. Outraged, she create a Bad End space, and turns the Tsuutenkaku Tower into a Blue-Nosed Akanbe. Miyuki, Yayoi, and Candy are in the tower when this happens, so they are trapped within the Akanbe.

Yayoi accidentally spills her natto gaoza candy, causing the Akanbe to cough up candy. Nao catches a piece of candy and realizes her friends are in the tower. All five of them transform, but Happy and Peace are still stuck.

Cure Beauty suggests that they need to get the Akanbe to open its mouth so that Happy and Peace can escape. Sunny, March, and Beauty combine Sunny Fire, March Shoot, and Beauty Blizzard, but it does not affect the blue-nosed Akanbe. They cannot perform their group finishing move without freeing them first.

Candy gets an idea and tells Happy to use the Butterfly Decor. This makes Sunny, March, and Beauty grow butterfly wings, granting them the ability to fly. They buzz around the Akanbe and make it chase them until it gets dizzy. March throws the piece of natto gyoza candy into the Akanbe's mouth, causing it to barf up Happy and Peace. With everyone united, the Cures use Rainbow Healing to purify the Akanbe.

After Majorina escapes, everything returns to normal. Nao is still hungry, so the girls rush to the takoyaki shop. There, Reika happily tries takoyaki for the first time along with her friends. Yayoi comments that food tastes better when eaten together. The trip comes to an end with everyone "ultra happy".

Trivia[]

  • While talking about takoyaki in the bus, Yayoi says "Art is an explosion" (芸術は爆発だ, Geijutsu wa Bakuhatsu da), quoting the japanese pop artist Tarō Okamoto, whose works include Osaka's famous "Tower of the Sun".
    • A similar line is said by art club president Soga in episode 3, who says "Art is an explosion" in a different way, ART wa bakuretsu da.
  • Natto is a Japanese food made from fermented soybeans, while gyoza is made with garlic. Both are known for their strong smells, making them ridiculous choices for a candy flavor.

Edits in Glitter Force[]

  • Like in the previous two episodes, the cities the girls visit are changed to an Asia-Pacific Expo.
  • A shot of Nao fantasizing about the food she wants to eat is removed, likely because the Japanese food she mentions would be unfamiliar to American viewers.
    • For what is likely a similar reason, a shot of Akane getting excited about showing the others the best takoyaki in town is also removed.
  • Instead of going to Osaka Castle, Nakanoshima, and the Tennouji Zoo, the girls go to a generic castle, museum, and zoo.
  • The natto gyoza candy is changed to mustard-and-garlic taffy.
  • Instead of saying that their attempts to find the others will be like an RPG, Lily (Yayoi) says that it will be a "real-life quest".
  • Instead of joking that the meal Miyuki and Yayoi got cost 6.3 million yen, one of the old ladies says that the meal is made from a birds' nest.
  • The women Emily (Miyuki) and Yayoi keep coming across are parent chaperones, not random Osakans like they are in the original.
  • An okonomiyaki shop that the girls visit is changed to a curry restaurant.
  • Unlike usual Glitter Force episodes, where only parts of the transformation sequence is dimmed, almost the entire sequence is dimmed in this episode, including the girls putting on their blush and introducing themselves.
    • The Tiara Charms (Decors) appearing during Tiara Mode Torrent (Rainbow Healing) are darkened as well when they usually aren't.
    • On the other hand, the stock footage of Sparkle Fire (Sunny Fire), Sparkle Shot (March Shoot), and Sparkle Blizzard (Beauty Blizzard) isn't dimmed at all, even the parts that usually are.
