Synopsis[]
Miyuki, Akane, Yayoi, and Nao are upset over having failed their tests. The studious Reika got the best marks in the year as usual. She encourages the others to study, but they question the importance of doing so.
However, when the girls ask Reika why she studies, she realizes that she doesn't have an answer. This sets her out on a journey of self-discovery.
The next day, Reika goes through her morning routine: jogging with her elder brother, cooking breakfast with her mother and doing homework. However, her friends' question still troubles her, and she seeks advice from her her grandfather. Reika realizes that so much of what she does—her studies, student council work, archery practice, and even becoming a Pretty Cure—is based on the expectation of others, rather than her own desire. She questions her path in life.
Reika is surprised when her grandfather suggests that she stop everything that she does, in order to understand what she wants in life. She agrees, and upon going to school, she makes an announcement that she will be quitting everything she does there. Everyone is stunned by the news, but Nao understands Reika's decision and tells everyone to give her some space. She even quits jogging with her brother and helping her mother.
At lunch, she decides to join her friends after school to see what they choose to do. She reads fairy tales with Miyuki, learning how she can still find value in re-reading stories multiple times. She watches Akane cheer her volleyball practice, and learns the importance of cheering on team-mates. She draws with Yayoi, observing her dedication and attention to detail. She spends time with Nao and her siblings, and when her brother Yuuta trips, Nao insists on not helping him up so that he learns to be self-reliant. The girls' passion and devotion inspire Reika.
Meanwhile, Joker presents Akaoni with a large stack of reports on past encounters with the Pretty Cure, instructing him to study them. Akaoni finds studying troublesome, and realizes that he won't have to study if he just defeats the Pretty Cures instead.
While the girls are discussion how to manage without Reika, a passing elementary school students read a school quiz book. Akaoni conjures a Bad End space uses a Red Nose to turn the book into an Akanbe.
The girls transform to fight it, but they are surprised when it begins asking them questions. Cure Sunny fails a question on English and is trapped inside a giant red X. Cure Peace meets a similar fate when she fails a math question, March fails a history class, and Happy is caught when she gives the wrong ending to a proverb.
Reika finally arrives. While she is still unsure what she wants in life, she does know that she refuses to stand by while others suffer. She transforms into Cure Beauty and easily answers the questions that the others failed, with each successful striking the Akanbe a big red circle. Akaoni wonders how Reika seems to know everything, but she admits that there is much she doesn't know—like the lessons she learned from her friends. Reika still does not know her path in life, but she plans to discover it for herself.
Akaoni has the Akanbe pose a difficult question to defeat Cure Beauty: to recite the opening lines of The Journey, a poem by Takamura Koutarou. Akaoni is shocked when Reika recites the answer: "There exists no path in the journey of a man but that which he has forged in his wake." Resolved to find her own path in life, Beauty finishes off the Akanbe with Beauty Blizzard, earning Pretty Cure the Banana Decor. Akaoni retreats, and everything returns to normal.
Now, Reika finally understands why she works so hard every day. She gives her friends advice to motivate people on how to improve their studies and they agree to try her suggestions.

Trivia[]
- This episode is similar to episode 30 of Suite Pretty Cure♪, in which the girls were targeted by big Xs whenever they got a question wrong.
- The proverb which Cure Happy gets incorrect, in Japanese, is 「犬も歩けば棒に当たる」, meaning "even a dog may hit a stick if it goes for a walk". It has two possible meanings: either that bad things may happen to those who attempt things, or that good luck may come unexpectedly.
- Happy's incorrect answer is 「犬も歩けばココ掘れわんわん」, meaning "even a dog may dig here if it goes for a walk, woof woof!"
- Cure Beauty correctly recites the opening lines of The Journey, a poem by Japanese sculptor Kōtarō Takamura. The subject of the poem appropriately reflects Reika's struggle to find her own path in life.
- In Japanese, the poem begins as follows: 「僕の前に道はない / 僕の後ろに道は出來る」, meaning "there is no path before me / behind me a path will appear." Or more poetically, "there exists no path in the journey of a man but that which he has forged in his wake."
- The calligraphy which Reika's grandfather is writing is the kanji 「道」, meaning "way" or "path". The same kanji also appears on the scroll which Reika unfurled at the top of Mount Fuji in episode 7, as well as several times in episode 43.
Edits in Glitter Force[]
- At the beginning of the episode, Emily (Miyuki) says she failed her English test instead of saying she failed everything like in the original.
- When Emily is reading with Chloe (Reika), she's reading "Rumpelstiltskin". In the original, Miyuki is reading an unspecified story.
- The dub removes a clip of Akaoni falling asleep while reading the papers Joker gave him.
- Almost all of the questions the Akanbe/Buffoon asks the girls are changed.
- In the original, Cure Sunny translates "My name is Cure Sunny" into English. In the dub, Glitter Sunny is tasked with finding the predicate in the sentence "The cow jumped over the moon" (the answer is "jumped over the moon").
- Cure Sunny says, "My name is Cure Sunny!" in Japanese, approximating an American accent. Glitter Sunny jokes that the answer depends on the color of the cow.
- Cure March is asked about the third shogun in the Tokugawa Shogunate (Tokugawa Iemitsu), while Glitter Spring is asked about the thirteenth president of the United States (Millard Fillmore).
- Cure March answers "Tokugawa Ie-something," and Glitter Spring answers "President Somebody."
- Cure Happy is asked to complete the proverb "Even a walking dog..." ("...bumps into a pole"), while Glitter Lucky is asked to finish the rhyme "Mary had a little ____; its fleece was white as snow." (answer: "lamb").
- Cure Happy says that even a walking dog barks happily, and Glitter Lucky says Mary had a puppy named Muffin.
- In the original, Cure Beauty is asked to say "My name is Cure Beauty" in English. In the dub, Glitter Breeze is asked for the subject in "Around the rough and rugged rock the ragged rascal ran" (answer: "the rascal").
- Cure Beauty then evaluates 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 (the answer is 10), while Glitter Breeze evaluates 1 + 2 - 3 + 6 (the answer is 6).
- Cure Beauty is asked about the third shogun in the Tokugawa Shogunate, while Glitter Breeze is asked about the wife of the fourth president of the United States (Dolly Madison).
- Cure Beauty is also asked to recite the beginning of Takamura Koutarou's poem "Journey," while Glitter Breeze is asked to translate the Japanese text on the cover of the Akanbe textbook ("Workbook of Problems").
- In the original, Cure Sunny translates "My name is Cure Sunny" into English. In the dub, Glitter Sunny is tasked with finding the predicate in the sentence "The cow jumped over the moon" (the answer is "jumped over the moon").
- The footage is darkened during the scene where the girls and Candy panic about Reika leaving Pretty Cure.
- Throughout the episode, Japanese writing is edited out and replaced with English.
