"Story! A Period Drama in the Movie Village-degozaru!?" (映画村で時代劇でござる!?の巻! Eigamura de jidaigeki degozaru!? no maki!?) is the 33rd episode of Smile Pretty Cure!, and also the 422nd episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall.

Synopsis

The girls help out in a movie starring Pop.

Summary

The movie director finds the girls

The girls go on a tour of a period drama village where filming is being conducted for a new movie. Miyuki mistakenly thinks the monsters on the set are real, attempting to transform into Cure Happy and attack them, when the movie's director reprimands her. Miyuki then realizes it's just a film set, and the girls attempt to imitate the characters from a nearby poster to avoid any suspicion. A director sees them and asks if they are interested in acting for the new movie, and they agree, going to change into their costumes.

Akaoni watching the tv

Pop transforms into a human and manages to convince the director to let him act in the film. The filming starts, and the Cures and Pop begin acting out their roles, however, much to most of the cast and crew's chagrin, they don't stick to the film's script at all. The director loves their performances anyway, and Pop especially ends up stealing the show and impressing the director.

While watching TV, Akaoni sees a commercial for the period drama village featuring a monster called Aooni, and thinks it is a real town for demons, so he leaves to investigate. When talking to Aooni, and realizing he's just a human in a costume, he's shocked. He turns his head, and notices the Cures, but brushes it off, assuming it's not actually them.

The Cures running

The director tells the cast it's the movie's finale and everyone gets into their roles when Akaoni suddenly crashes the set and starts destroying it, trying to assist the film's villains. The majority of the supporting cast flees, and Akaoni realizes it's only a movie set. Pop tells everyone to stand together. Akaoni sucks the Bad End energy out of everyone and the girls transform as he turns a video camera into a Hyper Akanbe and merges with it. The Hyper Akanbe is able to control the Pretty Cure's movements and starts making them go forward, go backwards, and pause like a real video recorder.

Pop retrieves the movie

Pop arrives and tries to damage the Hyper Akanbe, but his prop sword gets destroyed by its hard body. Candy uses the elephant decor to spray water on it to damage its system, allowing the girls to break free and use Royal Rainbow Burst to defeat the Hyper Akanbe and collect a new decor.

With the film completed and Akaoni gone, Pop steals the video to avoid the girls identities being ruined or revealing that they're Pretty Cure. He promises to edit the footage and return it to the director later on.

The girls react to the movie

A few days later, the girls go to see a cinema screening of the movie, but they realize that Pop edited the movie to make himself the main focus of the entire film and remove the parts they were in, causing Akane to get frustrated.
