"The Lights Shining To the Future! Deliver it! The Best Smile!!" (光輝く未来へ! 届け! 最高のスマイル!! Hikari Kagayaku Mirai e! Todoke! Saikō no Sumairu!!?) is the 48th and final episode of Smile Pretty Cure!, the 40th episode of Glitter Force, and also the 437th episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall. The English title is "Friends Forever".

Synopsis[]

The Pretty Cures use the last bit of power from the Miracle Jewel to defeat Pierrot and save the world. However, Candy and Pop have to return to Märchenland. But in the end Candy returns and they all live happily ever after.

Summary[]

King Pierrot reaches a gargantuan claw toward the Earth. The Pretty Cure attack with Ultra Rainbow Burst, but it is not enough, and Pierrot strikes the Earth with a force equivalent to world-ending meteor impact. The Cures are thrown back to Earth and de-transform, and their Smile Pacts turn grey and break. The Pretty Cure have lost their power, and the Earth appears doomed.

Miyuki refuses to give up, and her resolute feelings call forth the last of the Miracle Jewel's power. Pop believes it may be enough to let the Pretty Cures defeat Pierrot, but it will also seal the bookgates, closing the link Earth and Märchenland forever. The girls cry as they realize this means they will never see Candy again.

Miyuki declares that together, they will whatever tomorrow brings—that's what Smile Pretty Cure means to her. Candy and the five Pretty Cures combine the power of their feelings and the Miracle Jewel and transform into Princess Form one last time, with Candy becoming Royale Candy.

They attack Pierrot with Miracle Rainbow Burst, a massive phoenix breathes a rainbow beam, which Pierrot opposes with his own beam. Just when it seems that Pierrot is winning the beam clash, Cure Happy yells the group's motto—Shine bright, Smile Pretty Cure!—drawing forth ultimate power. Happy transcends despair, taking on a massive winged form and embracing Pierrot with a smile. Pierrot is destroyed, and all life on Earth returns to normal.

Back on Earth, the Pretty Cure book now tells a happy ending: Pierrot was vanquished, peace returned to Märchenland once more, and the fairies all lived happily ever after. The joy is brief, as Candy and Pop find themselves floating into the sky to return to their home. Miyuki reminds Candy of her promise to say goodbye with a smile. The girls cry as they will never see their friend again, but a rainbow blooms in the sky.

The girls return to their normal lives, always trying their best and seeking joy in all things. Miyuki begins writing her own fairy tale featuring Candy, The Greatest of Smiles.

One day, at the corner where she met Candy, Miyuki sees a book flying toward her and hears a familiar voice: Candy found a way to return. The two hug each other and cry tears of joy, and the other girls are overjoyed to see her again. Candy promises that they'll be together forever. Miyuki addresses the viewer directly, thanking them for their support and encouraging everyone to find their "ultra happy" smiles.

  • The Best Smile is played as an insert song in this episode.
  • Candy's promise—to smile whenever she has to say goodbye—refers to episode 6, where it is mentioned that she once made the this promise to Pop. That episode was also written by Yonemura Shoji.
  • The catchphrase used to defeat Emperor Pierrot—"Kagayake, Smile Precure!"—was originally created in episode 6 when Miyuki suggests the Pretty Cures need something cool to say after their group transformation. Miyuki completes the picture book The Greatest Smile telling the story of her time as a Pretty Cure, and later enters a vocational college for writers, receiving an honorable mention award for her fairytale The Secret of Smile-chan. Akane plans on confessing her love to Brian after he stays with her while at university in Japan, but he returns to London to teach Japanese. Yayoi drops out of high school to draw her manga Miracle Peace, which becomes a phenomenal success and runs for at least 41 volumes. Nao attends a local college so she can continue living with her family, but her soccer career is cut short after she injures her leg saving her sister Yui from a truck.
