Sorceress

The Sorceress (魔法つかい)^? is a magician from Magic World, and a character exclusive to the Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure! Manga.

Appearance[]

The Sorceress is a young girl with long shaggy and spiky black hair. She wears a black dress with a stand-up collar over her bare skin, and black flats. She also carries a magic wand.

Personality[]

The Sorceress is an obsessively stubborn girl. She is extremely unforgiving to those who don't fulfill her desires or reciprocate her feelings. She hates all men with an unreasonable hatred, and believes they aren't worthy. She is also cold-hearted, willing to use magic to commit evil if it serves her purpose.

Despite her pettiness and cruelty, the Sorceress is still capable of acknowledging goodness in others when her perspective is changed by Kotoha and Jade's bond.

Relationships[]

Jade: Initially, the Sorceress fell in love with Jade, but Jade didn't reciprocate the feelings and rejected her. She cursed him out of rage and tried harming him further. However, she eventually leaves him be after seeing Ha-chan's love for him.
Ha-chan/Hanami Kotoha: Due to the Sorceress's own hatred for men, she doesn't understand why Ha-chan is extremely kind and loving to Jade, so she wants to break Ha-chan's heart by further hurting and turning Jade into being more aggressive. However, after witnessing Ha-chan's love and efforts to break the curse, the Sorceress finally secretly acknowledges her before leaving.

Etymology[]

A sorceress is a kind of female magician, but one who practices sorcery, which is dark magic.^[1] This befits her ability to harness destructive curses.

History[]

Originally, the Sorceress was a girl in love with Jade a year ago, but Jade's cold rejection of her love changed her attitude completely. She developed an intense hatred for Jade, and cast a curse on him that turned him into a monstrous shark, which would cause all mermen to disappear into bubbles if he couldn't break the curse. She, in fact, planned to exterminate the mermaid tribe by ending their chance to reproduce through destroying all the mermen from Jade's kingdom.

When Jade and Ha-chan are going to break the curse, she suddenly appears in front of the Mahou Tsukai team. By wielding induction magic, she puts Jade under her control and tries to sabotage the Cures' plan.

When Jade suddenly breaks free from her control, she is upset with her induction magic being broken. When Cure Magical points out that she still has feelings for Jade, the Cures persuade her that forgiving Jade is a form of love, but she is stubborn because she believes that Jade's curse won't disappear. However, the situation calms down when Jade's curse is undone through the Cure Felice's desperate efforts.

After Jade returns to his original form, she uses her own magic to create two rainbows as a "symbol of great blessing". While still feeling reluctant, she acknowledges the bond between Jade and Kotoha before departing.
