Synopsis

Manatsu and Laura are in high-spirits, on top of joining a club they managed to construct a small team of Pretty Cure. Manatsu makes an exclamation that accidentally offends a group of delinquents, but before they can attack her an upperclassman comes to her rescue. The girl manages to impress Manatsu and Laura by effortlessly taking the group out and scaring them away. Manatsu thanks her and introduces herself, then she asks for the other girls name. She introduces herself as Asuka Takizawa before leaving.

The following day Manatsu and Sango head to school when they find Asuka sitting down. Manatsu approaches her and Laura wastes no time popping out of the Aqua Pot to speak with her, convinced that she should be a Pretty Cure. Asuka is surprised by her appearance but she tells them to ask someone else. The girls attempt to convince Asuka to join them and Laura hands over the Tropical Pact, but Asuka has little interest in teaming up. Manatsu and Sango follow her through the hallway until a student council member stops them to discuss the club registration Manatsu filled out.

While her vagueness leaves the club open for a lot of things, she gets told that its for that reason that they can't approve it. Manatsu offers to redo the sheet, but Yuriko tells her not to bother because there isn't any more room for new clubs. Asuka overhears this and stops to point out how unfair that is. It's not Manatsu's fault there isn't any more room, and the student council should try to use what power they have to look for more rather than turn down new ones. Yuriko challenges her by asking if she can find their club a room and Asuka accepts- only to realize what she did, since she spoke without properly thinking. She decides to stick with them though, but she still won't join their team. As the girls head off Yuriko appears to be troubled.

The trio attempt to locate a free room but they have no such luck around the building. But just when hope appears to be lost, Manatsu rejoins Sango and Asuka to reveal that Minori knows a place. They meet up with her outside and she shows them an abandoned shed; one without proper lighting and it is full of dusty rubbish the school no longer needed. Manatsu suggests they work on cleaning up the room so that they can use it, and they ask her teacher for permission. She speaks with the other school staff and they agree on the condition the girls properly clean it up.

Minori draws out some simple plans, explaining that they should empty the shed and then clean it, then take the items to the recycling center. She points out that this process will take a while, so Asuka suggests they meet up after school for a while until they finish. As the girls work Laura observes Asuka struggle to pick up a statue. She pops out of the Aqua Pot and tells Sango to help her, but Asuka remarks on her arrogance as she points out being unable to help, given that she is a mermaid. While Sango struggles supporting the statue, she and Manatsu express why Laura wanted Asuka to join them after she complains about her. Asuka decides to drop it, reasoning that Laura doesn't seem like a bad person.

Eventually the girls have gathered the recycling and cleaned the entire room. Asuka and Minori are taking trash out when they come across the tennis court. Minori notices that Asuka seems distracted and calls out to her, but Asuka assures her everything is fine and she catches up to her. Later, Manatsu reveals the shell-shaped melon bread that she made for everyone and the girls sit down to enjoy their snack. Asuka and Manatsu bond over their liking of mango-flavoring and Manatsu asks her if she is in a club. Asuka tells her she isn't, and she asks her why she wanted to join a club so badly. Manatsu explains that back on the island she came from there wasn't any kids her age, so she wants to make every day lots of fun with her new friends here. Asuka asks her what point there is in that, causing Manatsu some confusion. Manatsu doesn't give her a straight answer, instead thanking her for the help. Asuka insists that it isn't a big deal.

The girls gather up all of the recycle center items when Asuka and Yuriko cross paths. Neither say a word to one-another. She helps the girls in keeping the cart holding the recycled goods together and they prepare to head off, thanking her again for helping them out until now. As they head out Asuka returns to the shed to get her school bag when she spots melon bread and a note from Manatsu. In it she tells Asuka that she wants to share some with her again, causing Asuka to smile as she picks it up.

At the recycling center, Numeri observes her surroundings and tries to determine what she can make a Yaraneeda from. She settles on a colorful totem pole that wreaks havok, stealing away the motivation power from the workers. The girls witness this and after Laura pops out of the Aqua Pot they transform into Cure Summer, Coral and Papaya. The girls directly attack the Yaraneeda while Coral blocks its various attacks, the duel being witnessed from afar by Asuka. The girls have trouble fighting the totem monster as it separates its body into four pieces, but just as it seems to overpower them, Asuka appears. She tells Laura to hand over the Tropical Pact and a ring appears, allowing her to become the fourth pretty cure, Cure Flamingo.

The others express relief and the battle resumes, the totem monster attempting to attack Summer while she is down. Flamingo comes to her side and kicks the totem away when Papaya instructs the girls to gather its pieces into one solid piece again. Flamingo compares it to when they were cleaning, allowing the girls to work together and stack each piece. Laura gets the motivation power back and Flamingo's dedication to protect the others summons a red lipstick, transforming into a Heart Rouge Wand. With that, Flamingo goes on to use her finisher to dispose of the Yaraneeda.

The totem falls back into the pile of recycling and Numeri takes off as the motivation returns to the works. Asuka overlooks her new Pretty Cure items as Laura happily realizes they have a full team now. Manatsu celebrates their success at getting another teammate and a club, but Asuka reminds her that she never intended on joining. But seeing how happy the girls are makes her reconsider, and she decides to believe that things will work out and she can give it another try.
