Synopsis[]

While waiting for Asuka, the girls observe the school news article about the sand art competition. Manatsu suggests the next activity focus on skateboarding, showing the one she found when they cleaned this place up. It's then they hear the door and Laura quickly hides within the Aqua Pot, just in time to evade the watchful eye of Masami Kakuta. She's been checking the clubs for sighting of a mermaid, there's a rumor going around lately.

Asuka walks in to find the room a mess and her stressed out friends in the corner. They tell her about the committee showing up to thoroughly check through the room and she becomes frustrated with their invasion of privacy, deciding to confront them with the other girls. As this is going on, Minori is reviewing the school rule book. Masami explains that while they don't believe there was a mermaid, since they don't exist, there has been numerous sightings as of late. She's convinced they're pranks, but its up to them to put a stop to it. Which is why they were searching all the clubs and confiscated every banned item they came across- revealing to the girls a compartment within the room full of the items they took off of other students. If its considered banned then the confiscated items come here.

The girls head off and while Asuka remains perturbed, the others point out that if Laura was caught it'd just cause a commotion, and they wouldn't be able to act as Pretty Cure either. They are unaware that Masami is observing them from the room, suspicious of them since they came to speak with the committee directly.

The following day the girls reach school property and the committee stops them. They want to check their belongings, and Asuka argues with Masami because they aren't checking anyone else. She goes to the student council to ask if this is allowed, but Yuriko assures her that the student council does not have any involvement in this. However, the committee isn't breaking any rules, so they aren't in the wrong if they are just trying to ensure the school is running smoothly. Asuka remains frustrated until Yuriko mentions how unlike her it is to be so fired up over a club.

Throughout the school day the girls listen as everyone tells rumors about the mermaid. The committee is only making it worse by looking so much into it, causing them to spread. Meanwhile, Laura is in the school-grounds water when she overhears a discussion about the judo club thought they saw a mermaid drowning during the sand art competition. She takes offense to this, until she hears Masami mention the Tropical Club. She hides until Masami denies mermaids exist, causing Laura to yell out. She hurriedly makes an escape after Masami spots her, and she rejoins the girls later; just in time for the school news to have been updated to include a drawn image of what Masami saw and her recounting of the event.

It's then Masami and the committee have shown up again for another inspection. In their panic Manatsu trips on her skateboard and throws the Aqua Pot, forcing Laura and Kururun to take shelter elsewhere. Unfortunately, Masami picks it up and confiscates it.

As this is going on, Elda observes a park full of young children, siblings and adults. She uses a Zenzen Yaraneeda sphere to steal everyone's motivation and begins playing around on her monster jungle gym until the girls show up to stop her. Even without the Aqua Pot they refuse to give up without a fight. The girls transform into Cure Summer, Coral, Papaya and Flamingo, but they struggle to keep ground when the Yaraneeda flings its long tunnel slide arms around.

Laura locates the skateboard and with Kururun, she quietly makes her way through the empty halls, trying to locate the Aqua Pot. Masami sees the skateboard out of the corner of her eye and is about to give chase, but because running in the halls are forbidden, she is forced to walk. She is shocked spotting Laura's tail fin in the distance and she heads further down the hallway, realizing the committee room's door is open. Laura digs around until she hears Masami approach, forcing her to don a long-skirted school uniform and shoes as Kururun hides among the stuffed animals. Masami is surprised to see Laura and she looks at her feet, and Laura remarks that mermaids don't exist. Masami agrees and Laura quickly comes up with an excuse, saying she'd like to join the committee. An announcement is cast over the school system, saying its time for students to leave. Masami agrees to hear her out and Laura quickly tries to make a break for it after she notices her skirt is too long. She manages to dive into the Aqua Pot and float high into the air, causing Masami to become flustered over her confusion as she looks out the nearby window to see nobody there.

The Cures attempt to figure out how they can fight the Yaraneeda without the Aqua Pot for help, but just then, Laura arrives -still in uniform- to help them. She uses it to locate the motivation power and the girls use Mix Tropical to defeat it.

At school the next day the girls are stopped yet again, but this time, the tired Masami tells them about the mermaid she saw and the strange girl who went missing. She asks if they are involved, and Asuka boldly stands up to her, to ask if they have any proof of their involvement. Masami tells them to hand the Aqua Pot over after they confirm they have it again, but they refuse. Minori points out that there is a rule saying that if the club adviser approves of an item brought to school, they are allowed to have it. Ms. Sakuragawa approved of the Aqua Pot, therefore they can have it. Masami tries to argue, causing the other committee members to point out that she's been overworking herself lately. She rejects their concern, only to see Kururun go by on the skateboard- but when everyone else looks they don't see it. She concedes that she must be overly-tired and the committee head off.

The girls are relieved, only for Laura to reveal herself in the uniform she wore the day before. She's excited to wear it again to school, but they crush her spirit by telling her that it isn't her uniform, so she has to take it back to the committee's room.

Trivia[]

  • The Motivation Color announced before the ending is Flamingo Red.
  • A uniform with a long skirt may be included among the banned items of the Disciplinary Committee because long skirts are associated with delinquent fashion in Japanese culture. The school may also simply have a rule regulating skirt length.
  • The enmity between Asuka and Student Council President Yuriko, particularly Yuriko questioning Asuka's commitment to club activities, is explained in later episodes which explore Asuka and Yuriko's friendship, specifically episodes 30 and 31.
    • This episode's writer, Murayama Isao, wrote both of those episodes as well.
