Summary

Laura and Kururun secretly follow Asuka on her school field trip. Manatsu and the others try to chase after the train, but Numeri just so happens to be on the train as well...

Major Events

  • The reason for the enmity between Asuka and Yuriko is revealed.

Synopsis

Asuka and the other third-years are on a school field trip by overnight sleeper train. When Asuka spots a hand poking out of her bag, she discovers that Laura and Kururun have stowed away in the Aqua Pot. She is unaware that Cure Summer, Cure Coral and Cure Papaya are also chasing the train in Cure form. Former Student Council President Shiratori Yuriko is suspicious of Asuka's antics.

Laura is surprised to bump into the enemy Numeri, disguised as a railway conductor. She is here to steal the Motivation Power of the students who are excited for the school trip. When the train stops at Yamanonaka Station, Asuka steps off the train to fight Numeri, since neither can fight at full power in the train. In a tense showdown, Asuka leaps back onto the train as it leaves the station, leaving Numeri stranded at the station. Yuriko scolds Asuka for causing trouble again, and quips that she hasn't changed.

At dinner time, Laura approaches Asuka as she sits alone in the train's observation deck, and asks what Yuriko meant. Asuka reveals that she and Yuriko were friends since elementary school and joined the tennis club in the first year of middle school, where they played doubles. At a district tournament, Asuka violently confronted students from a rival school who were sabotaging Yuriko's tennis racket. As a result of Asuka's actions, her team was forced to withdraw. Asuka stormed out, declaring that she doesn't need teammates.

Just then, Numeri approaches in a Chou Zettai Yaraneeda made from a diesel train and attacks the students' train, stopping it and drawing the students' Motivation Power. Asuka transforms into Cure Flamingo and stops to check on Yuriko, who initially doesn't recognize her in her transformed state. Cure La Mer and Flamingo fight the Yaraneeda, but when Flamingo uses her Heart Rouge Rod to perform Buttobi Flamingo Smash, Yuriko recognizes the powerful swing as Asuka's tennis technique.

Just then, the other three Cures arrive. La Mer recovers the Motivation Power using the Mermaid Aqua Pot, and the Cures use the Land Heart Kuru Ring to defeat the Yaraneeda with Land Beat Dynamic. The students return to normal, and the train continues. Yuriko wonders if what she saw was all a dream.

As the Cures run all the way home at night, it is revealed that the reason Summer and the others followed the train was to deliver Asuka's pillow, which she can't sleep without. Yuriko quips once again that she hasn't changed. Asuka feels something underneath her pillow, and finds Kururun beneath her pillow, leaving her speechless.

Trivia

  • Cure Flamingo appears at the beginning of the ending.
  • Shiratori Yuriko still refers to herself as Student Council President, despite Ichijo Rika winning the election to take over the position in episode 30. The Student Council appears to still be in a handover period, which may explain why the election is expected to take place well before the sitting President graduates.
  • The music which plays when Laura speaks to Asuka about Yuriko is "Song of Friendship ~Piano version~" from the 2nd original soundtrack. It is an instrumental version of the song Laura sings in episode 13.
  • The Japanese proverb Laura uses is "tabi no haji wa kakisute" (旅の恥は掻き捨て?, lit. "the shame of a journey can be stricken off.") which means when you travel, nobody at your destination knows you, so you can do as you like without worrying what the people there think of you. It is similar to the English idiom "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."
  • Cure Flamingo's solo transformation is used in this episode.
