Major Events

  • Kururun transforms into a Cure, but only in their dream.

Synopsis

Prologue

Minori appears beneath a spotlight and addresses the viewer directly. She promises ten small stories before moving seamlessly into the opening dance. Each story is animated in a wildly different style.

Tropica-shine, Tropical Samurai

On a windy field, Asuka and Manatsu face off in a tense samurai duel. When they draw their weapons, they turn out to be Heart Rouge Rods rather than katanas, and they are too long to put lipstick on.

Tropica-shine, Palace of the Dragon King

The girls were walking along the beach when they suddenly discovered a stranded and weak-looking turtle. Laura ran over to help it, but Minori pulled her back. Minori advised the others to think before helping the turtle and warned them about the fable of Urashima Taro, who rescued a turtle and was rewarded by the underwater Palace of the Dragon King, but his reward was old age. However, Manatsu really wants to help the turtle. Laura revealed that it was a true story, and mentioned other heroes who rescued sea fairies. They were surprised to notice that the sea fairies from Laura's story had also washed ashore.

Tropica-shine, A Reward From the Turtle

Manatsu, Laura, and Aoi were having dinner when the doorbell suddenly rang. The turtle from the previous story appeared unexpectedly at Manatsu's house and entered the closet, insisting that they do not peek. Shortly after, the other sea fairies also entered the closet. Manatsu peeked and found that they were all squashed in the closet and could barely move.

Tropica-shine, The Frightening Mansion of Delays

Manatsu imagines the mansion of the Witch of Delays. Chongire is looking up recipes on a tablet computer but is distracted by reading restaurant updates, game live streamers, his social media likes, and news. Numeri is distracted from her medical duties by reading a fashion magazine. Elde puts off her cleaning to play a video game. Butler decides to punish them but is distracted by sorting books into the correct order. The Witch of Delays needs to pee but is too lazy to get up. Manatsu wonders how the villains get anything done, as nobody keeps them in line, and thinks they're all a huge joke.

Tropica-shine for the Dugong

At the aquarium, the dugong is absent due to illness, disappointing the children. However, Sango comes up with an idea to entertain the children. She has a dugong head mask that she can put on Laura. They decide to have Laura wear the mask as a replacement for the dugong, but it ends up scaring the children, which Asuka yells at Sango for.

Tropica-shining Switcheroo

Manatsu was talking about a snapping turtle when she accidentally knocked over the Mermaid Aqua Pot off the table. Asuka and Sango both rushed to stop it from hitting the ground, but their efforts resulted in Asuka and Sango switching bodies. Things got even worse when Chongire's Chou Zettai Yaraneeda clumsily fell on top of the five Cures, Kururun and Chongire, causing everyone to swap bodies. With Laura being in Chongire's Yaraneeda’s body, Chongire's Chou Zettai Yaraneeda in Laura's body, Manatsu in Asuka's body, Minori in Kururun's body, Sango in Chongire's body, Chongire in Sango's body, Asuka in Minori's body, and Kururun in Manatsu's body.

Tropica-shine, Yaraneeda

Chongire throws the orb to create a Chou Zettai Yaraneeda, but Cure Flamingo parries it with Swooping Flamingo Smash. It strikes the ground, turning the entire planet Earth into a Yaraneeda.

Tropica-shine, A new Pretty Cure?

The girls transform to fight a Yaraneeda. Kururun transforms into Cure Kururun. It is revealed to be Kururun's dream.

Tropica-shine! The Legendary Heart Catch!!

Researching the mysterious Legendary Pretty Cure, the girls search online for "pretty cure legendary" and discover a video of the Heartcatch Pretty Cure! team from a previous season of the franchise. They surmise that if these Cures are real, they must be so old that they're grandmas by now. Overhearing them from the roof, Cure Marine is outraged. The story is then revealed to be a dream of Hanasaki Tsubomi, who tells the other Heartcatch Cures about it.

Tropica-shine! A New Move!

The Tropical Club re-imagines the name of their special move, Pretty Cure Land Beat Dynamic. Everyone gives their suggestions, and they decide to use all of them. In the next battle, they attempt to defeat the enemy with the new move, but the name of the attack takes so long to say that the enemy has gone.

Tropica-shine, The Terrifying Haunted Bubble Pictures

The girls think they see ghosts in the background of photographs taken with the Mermaid Aqua Pot, but they turn out to be innocent things like Sango wearing a face mask or Kururun moving very fast. Laura shows unflattering pictures she took of the girls, so they try to take a picture of Laura.

Epilogue

The episode concludes with Minori speaking directly to the viewer once again, revealing that there were actually 11 stories in total.

Trivia

  • This is the first episode in the franchise to be an anthology of vignettes rather than a single continuous narrative.
  • The characters of Heartcatch Pretty Cure! make an appearance in this episode to promote their appearance in the Tropical-Rouge! movie.
  • This episode's opening theme is sung by the members of the Tropical Club.
  • The samurai story appears to be inspired by samurai manga such as Lone Wolf and Cub. It references common samurai genre tropes, such as waiting for the opponent to make the first move before attacking.
  • Urashima Taro, the folk tale character mentioned in the turtle story, appears in the Smile Pretty Cure! movie. This folk tale is also mentioned in episode 4 of Futari wa Pretty Cure and episode 19 of Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!.
  • The story of the turtle returning is based on a Japanese folk tale known as Tsuru no Ongaeshi, or The Crane Returns a Favor. In it, a man rescues a crane, and a woman comes to his house to live in his back room and weave cloth for him. The woman turns out to be the crane he rescued, but when the man discovers this, she leaves. The story is briefly referenced in episode 34 of Smile Pretty Cure!, and the Nintendo 3DS game Smile Pretty Cure! Let's Go! Märchen World includes a minigame based on it.
  • The video game Elda plays is Bunny Buddy Village, the game Asuka was playing in episode 6. Elda is raising her bond with Usako, the same character Asuka wanted to be friends with. One of the embarrassing bubble photos later in the episode is Asuka playing the game and meeting Usako.
  • The body-swapping episode references episode 15, where Laura and Minori switch bodies using the Aqua Pot.
  • The Heartcatch! story uses a Heartcatch!-style title card.
  • The video site "ToRobu" is inspired by an old design of YouTube. The website's logo looks like Kururun, who also appears in a video thumbnail. The channel they visit is named ハートわしづかみプリキュア (Heart Washidzukami Precure)?, which translates to "Heart Grab Pretty Cure", an obvious reference to Heartcatch Pretty Cure!. Cure Marine is the channel's user icon.
  • The super-long name for the special attack references the Japanese story Jugemu, in which a boy is given an exceptionally long name because his parents can't decide on one.
    • The full name of the attack, which takes 39 seconds to say, is Pretty Cure! Jugemu Jugemu, A Nearly Infinite Eon, Ultimate Marine Splash, Mega Wave Dragon, Tropical Mango Kiwi Limbo Dance, Tappity-tap Crash Niagara Shower, Flying Phoenix Super Serving of Level 100 Spiciness, Free Refill of Fatty Roast, Beauty Legend Passing Shot, Laura Apollodoros Hyginus La Mer, Gran Ocean's Cutest and Smartest Beauty, Queen of Queens Bubble Bomber, Floral Pink and Purple Shadow, the New Fall Line's Rat-a-tat Tap Punch, Kururun Kururun Kururun Run, Shuringan and Gurindai, Land Beat Dynamic!
  • In the broadcast version of this episode, the opening features scenes from the Tropical-Rouge! movie, and the usual ending theme is replaced by "Shantia ~Land of Happiness~". Before the ending starts, Cure Blossom and Cure Summer ask everyone to dance.
    • The Crunchyroll version keeps the original opening and ending intact, with Cure Papaya appearing before the ending.
  • The episode marks the first time an eyecatch has featured the villains, and it is the only episode where this particular eyecatch is used.
