Get The Win! Asuka's Friendship Smash! (決めろ!あすかの友情スマッシュ! Kimero! Asuka no Yūjō Sumasshu!)? is the 38th episode of Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure and is the 865th episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall.

Summary

Asuka still hasn't decided her career path, despite her love for tennis. Yuriko is participating in a tennis trial to get into the prestigious Phoenix Academy, when she asks Asuka to play against her.

Major Events

  • Shiratori Yuriko retires as Student Council President.

Synopsis

Asuka still hasn't submitted her choice of high school survey. Her plans had been to attend Phoenix Academy, for which she could receive a sports referral, but leaving the middle school tennis club has left a gap in her record, and her grades aren't good enough to get into the academy by the normal route. However, her father notices that she has taken her tennis racket out of storage, and her former doubles partner Shiratori Yuriko catches her practicing tennis again.

Yuriko formally retires as Student Council President, and is herself a candidate for the Phoenix Academy tennis referral. Laura wonders if school clubs also have retirement ceremonies, and Minori suggests they head to the city library. There they happen to spot students from Phoenix Academy, and decide for some reason to visit the high school. There they spot Yuriko trying out for the tennis referral.

Asuka denies she still has interest in attending the academy, but Yuriko challenges her to a tennis match to decide who receives the referral. During the match, they try to insult each other about their weaknesses, but end up just remembering how they supported each other in the past. Asuka reveals that the Tropical Club taught her the value of teammates and encouraged her to play tennis again. Yuriko reveals that she also wanted to play tennis with Asuka again.

Just then, a crab Chou Zettai Yaraneeda attacks the city, and the girls leave to fight it, leaving Asuka to finish the match. Yuriko reveals that she recognized Asuka as Cure Flamingo. Asuka puts down her racket to join the Cures, despite Yuriko's insistence that doing so will cost her the sports referral; Yuriko, with her good grades, can still enter via the normal route. However, Asuka cannot abandon her new teammates, the Pretty Cures.

The five Cures transform and fight the giant crab Yaraneeda, but it is too fast. Cure Flamingo visualizes the enemy in terms of a tennis opponent, and uses her Swooping Flamingo Smash to strike it accurately. The Cures finish it off with the Marine Heart Kuru Ring and Marine Beat Dynamic.

Back at school, Asuka congratulates Yuriko on getting the tennis referral to Phoenix Academy. Asuka is absent from the Tropical Club today to buy study books, in order to get into her chosen high school: Phoenix Academy.

  • This episode is the first and only time Yuriko is seen in casual clothes.

  • Asuka's father, Takizawa Haruya, previously appeared in episode 26, where he worked as a kind of rain shaman during the meteor shower viewing. Like his daughter, Haruya was also part of a sports team in middle school.
