This round is now complete.
This next round has four seasons on the docket. The first of these is Fresh Pretty Cure!, which does a lot of new things for the franchise. First, it is the first season to have a mid-season addition to the main cast, which is a tradition that almost every season after it has followed. Second, and most importantly, it places a heavier emphasis on the villains and overall plot. The first five seasons were pretty simple good-versus-evil stories whose villains typically didn't have much backstory or character other than being evil. Their strengths instead lied in the characters and their interactions with each other. Fresh, by contrast, has more forward momentum and plot twists, and it not only develops its villains but explains how they all came to be evil.
The trend of emphasizing the overall plot continued with Heartcatch Pretty Cure! and Suite Pretty Cure♪. Both are unique seasons, but they're clearly influenced by Fresh. The only outlier in this group of four is Smile Pretty Cure!, which feels a lot more like one of the classic seasons than a newer season. Not only is it far more episodic than its three predecessors, but it is the last season in the entire franchise not to have a mid-season Cure.
With that history lesson aside, it's up to you to decide which of these seasons are hot and which are not!
RULES AND INSTRUCTIONS
1. Vote for what you prefer, not what everyone else prefers. Your vote could save a season!
2. Here's how to play: make a comment giving +1 point to one season and -1 point to another. You have to upvote a season and downvote another season; otherwise, your vote won't count. An example vote is:
Futari wa Pretty Cure +1, Yes! Pretty Cure 5 -1
3. Season names can get quite long, so feel free to use shorthands or acronyms (e.g. Futari wa or FwPC instead of Futari wa Pretty Cure). Just make sure that I can understand what you mean.
4. When a season reaches +7 points, it will move on to Phase 2. When a season reaches -7 points, it will be eliminated from the game. You cannot vote for a season that has a score of +7 or -7.
5. The game moves to the next round when every season has reached +7 or -7.
6. Unless you have permission from me, you are not allowed to edit your comment once you've posted it. Also, once you've voted, you must wait 24 hours to vote again. I can see if you've broken the rules by checking the history and time stamp of your comments, so don't try anything. ;)
7. It's okay to say that you're disappointed by the way the round turns out, but it's NOT okay to be rude or mean to other users for voting in a way you don't like.
8. I've made mistakes before, and I'm sure to make them again. If I make a mistake with counting votes, spelling a character's name, or absolutely anything else, please let me know!
9. If there is only one season left, please don't vote. If the season has a positive score, it'll go through; if it have a negative score, it'll be eliminated; and if it have a score of 0, I'll use a random number generator to decide its fate.
10. There has been an incident of somebody making multiple accounts to make more votes than they're allowed to. This is not okay, as it ruins the game for everyone else.
