Yotsuba Hiromichi (四葉ヒロミチ)? is a minor character from Doki Doki! Pretty Cure. He is the older brother of Yotsuba Alice. Although he does not properly appear in the season, he plays a more prominent role in the sequel novel.

Bio[]

Concept[]

"In fact, it's established that Alice has an older brother, and it was also suggested that Mana would fall in love with him. He's an excellent former student council president that not even Mana can match, but he didn't want to take over the Yotsuba family, so now it feels unconventional that he's gotten up and left, haha. However, we feel that if we depicted an episode where Mana fell in love with that one person, it would deviate from her character of "charity," so we slashed that whole episode out, haha."

Koga Gou, series director.[1]

Originally, episode 38 of the season was to be titled The Insurmountable Wall (超えられない壁 Koerarenai Kabe)?. The plot of the episode was about Hiromichi, Mana's predecessor in the student body, returning to Oogai Town from his travels and causing a stir, with a focus on why Mana ran for president of her school. The episode would have ended with Alice and Hiromichi finally meeting face to face.

Alice: "If you had returned to Japan, it would have been nice if you had gotten in touch, big brother."
Hiromichi: "I came to see how you were doing."
Alice: "Ah, father's helicopter..."
Hiromichi: "Oops...I'll be back. Give Cure Heart my regards."

Hiromichi appears to have a strained relationship with their father, which is the reason why Alice became the heir to the company despite being the younger one. He also appears to know of Alice and her friends' activities as Pretty Cure, knowing that Cure Heart exists. Series head writer Yamaguchi Ryota noted that the episode was ultimately cut because the familial circumstances were "too complicated" for children to understand, and it did not move the main plot forward, so it was postponed and the episode that was originally episode 39, Bel's Scheme! Ai Becomes a Jikochuu!?, was pulled down to the thirty-eighth episode slot. Eventually, as the season progressed, there was no more space for the pulled episode as the story was about to come to a close with the final battle, so it eventually "disappeared."[2]

Appearance[]

Hiromichi is a young man with dark, messy orange hair and eyes of the same color. He has a dark pink scarf donned with a green bead, a pale green long-sleeved shirt, a grey vest, a pair of light grey trousers, and a pair of dull pink and white sneakers.

Personality[]

Relationships[]

  • Yotsuba Alice: His younger sister.
  • Aida Mana: His successor as the student body president. Once, when the two of them were younger, Hiromichi gave her some advice.
  • Yotsuba Seiji: His father. It is implied in the novel that the two of them have a strained relationship. Because of this, Seiji made Alice the heir instead of him.

Etymology[]

History[]

Doki Doki! Pretty Cure[]

Prior to the start of the season, a young Mana tries to stop some bullies by yelling at them, only for them to overwhelm her.DDPC04 Seeing this, Hiromichi, then president of the student council, offers advice to her, telling her that, "If you want to help others in a big way, you need a title for yourself". This motivated Mana to become council president herself, and eventually Pretty Cure. This backstory was not included in the actual anime but given by series head writer Yamaguchi during an interview.[1]
